Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
Cherryblossom114 · 06/08/2022 13:50

Cheque arrived, just now, better late than never...
Franked 51pence 5/8/22. How much is 51p x is it 5000 staff !!! Each month !!!

Newinmarch22 · 06/08/2022 15:05

Cheque arrived today yay!!! Doing invoice on line has made no difference at all to amount of time it takes to receive payment. It probably just makes them feel good.

Gally123 · 06/08/2022 16:27

@Chrissols - cheque arrived this afternoon! When I looked on the system earlier today it send issued on Sunday, but I am sure when I looked during the week it said "processing."

Frazzledbynature · 08/08/2022 08:52

I scanned my cheque in on Friday, as of this morning (before bank working hours) not cleared and I'll have to transfer savings into my account to cover direct debits if it don't clear today. Its been a costly month (MOT) for us this month and where other months its been sent in 3 days and cleared this hasn't happened this month for anyone of us it seems. That seems to me like a struggling business. Time to locate where i saved my CV and look up the other transcribing companies listed here for me too as a back up.

Chrissols · 08/08/2022 10:50

Blocked by five again today - seriously thinking of calling it a day with Dict8, seems a waste of time even checking in these days......

Frazzledbynature · 08/08/2022 12:16

I walked away, had a shower, a coffee and a sit with my cats. The sound quality was off putting and because they were speaking at 200mph found it difficult to zone in on what i was trying to hear. the same 5 letters were still waiting to be typed so i tried again, got through the one that was blocking me and it fed some clearer ones through and got going. I'm not even going to try and type extra today. I'd rather be having the afternoon off and moving about.

deflatedbirthday · 08/08/2022 12:39

I added an extra speciality a couple of weeks ago and by god am I regretting it! The feedback is pathetic and so bloody disheartening. I've had three emails already this morning as I typed a lot over the weekend. I disagree entirely with some of the corrections. One minute I'm told to type exactly what is said, which I do and I add a note to ? If it doesn't make sense. The next minute I'm getting feedback that something dictated didn't make sense... well quite! But I typed it as it was said! Also got 'you didn't note to enclose' ( I have zero recollection of any letters stating enclose x and y but whatever) but then the example was blank! 😡

Chrissols · 08/08/2022 13:43

I still have the same five blocking that were there on Saturday so it is blatantly obvious Dict8 know these are not going to be picked up - surely they should move them for their proof readers to do or I am just being a bit naive here?

deflatedbirthday · 08/08/2022 17:08

And now feedback that it's od and qds (I always type these in capitals... and I thought everyone else did I've never been pulled up on it before!). To me that looks shoddy!

Meha5a · 08/08/2022 17:23

@deflatedbirthday have always typed od, qds etc in lower case.
@Frazzledbynature I have noticed the dictation is going really fast as well, I was wondering if something was up with the system, have had to slow things down to 60 on some letters ?? Have to agree with everyone else, the dictation is dire and I am also thinking about a backup plan. They are never going to give us a pay rise and the cost of living is going to get worse so needs must.

deflatedbirthday · 08/08/2022 17:26

@Meha5a fair enough! I was always told capitals because it stands for something and have never ever been pulled for doing so.

Re back up plan. I work for the NHS but my consultant retires in April and I am loathed to start all over again with a new one! I have just taken up a post with a cosmetic clinic in London (I'm in the north) and my laptop arrived this afternoon. I'm quite giddy about it! nothing to do with my discount on boob jobs

Meha5a · 08/08/2022 17:29

@deflatedbirthday lucky you, sounds like my dream job !! is it working from home ?

deflatedbirthday · 08/08/2022 17:32

Yeah working from home. Part time initially to fit around my 'proper' job. But I am employed so I so have to faff about with tax etc. there is potential for it to become full time and I have until April to make a decision NHS wise so it's all worked out well.

Newinmarch22 · 09/08/2022 09:14

Please!! Not another day of not being able to get past the first 5! This is getting absolutely ridiculous!

Frazzledbynature · 09/08/2022 10:06

I used to do caps in my NHS job but i agree small letters looks not right, however if they dictated "once a day" i type "once a day".
It was so slow yesterday i left lots of letters on, today they've been cleared in 2 hours and i need at least 100 lines more to reach daily target.

@Meha5a Be interesting due to the cost of living how i dare up that daily quota but with my husband on benefits there is a threshold i daren't go over or we lose other things such as council tax and its not worth me working more for.

Frazzledbynature · 09/08/2022 10:08

you could try emailing dict8 and letting them know, they will probably get you to type it out with a note as per email, list the transcriptions and see what they say. Last one i complained about I got their full support.

deflatedbirthday · 09/08/2022 10:24

@Frazzledbynature if it's not too nosy to ask, what is your daily quota/ target? I'm wondering how feasible it would be to go bank at the NHS (always loads of shifts) type dict8 and slowly build up the work I'll be doing for the cosmetic clinic.

Frazzledbynature · 09/08/2022 10:48

Not nosy at all, i used to work part time at Asda Pharmacy so i based my income on what i used to earn there but try not to go over £350 pm this is purely because if i earn more than £400 i could lose council tax and a certificate that allows free dental and cost off glasses. My husband is disabled and has bone/calcium issues amongst many problems so he has to have dental treatment, its for him mainly but its nice to see a bit off the glasses bill when the appointment comes around.

Therefore i aim for 222 lines a day, hubby is ex manager so he's draughted up a spreadsheet so i can put in every letter count and when i reach certain goals i.e. daily quota, £250 (minimum survival which i was on when i was suffering from my neck pain i had a few months ago) and £350 means i can stop work for the month and have time off. I do five days of it a week to reach this but its times like now i'm sitting waiting for further work which is annoying particularly when you know there is work out there to be done.

Its a shame Dict8 don't work for my department, when i left it was sitting at around 3,000 letters, staffing depleted and i know while i was there they outsourced typing to an overseas company!

Meha5a · 09/08/2022 12:25

Just spent the last hour sorting out banking due to the sloppy give a shit way we are paid !!! This company want us all singing all dancing, up to speed with every single medical this that or the other, but when it comes to them, they are archaic in their office management and method of payment. Delayed invoice processing, cheques issued towards the end of the week so it adds another 3/4 days before we can access our hard earned cash.

From invoice to payment: 10/12 days in 2022 !!!!!!

Rant over

bluebell8329 · 09/08/2022 12:38

Has anyone had any trouble getting extra departments added on? I've worked in a pool for the last year typing for paeds and GP but apparently this doesn't make me eligible to type these departments for DICT8. I currently work in Haematology and have this as my main speciality but am having a mini argument about having Medicine Haematology added too.

Chrissols · 09/08/2022 14:23

@bluebell8329 be careful what you wish for.....adding extra departments on can sometimes be more trouble than it is worth. I used to get along quite nicely until they added two more on - now it is those two that block everything, to the point where I am not doing any Dict8 at all at the moment as it is not cost effective

I had a speciality on that I used to work for but some of the dictation was inaudible and I asked for it to be removed and they took it off straight away so I'm back to the one speciality. The only thing I don't understand is why they won't add the other part of Haematology on when that's my main speciality.

Cherryblossom114 · 09/08/2022 15:02

@deflatedbirthday have you thought of putting Dict8 in the picture about the hospital you worked, you never know you might get a reward bonus

@Chrissols you right about the adding extra clinics, I am having the same problem now with said extra

deflatedbirthday · 09/08/2022 15:18

@Cherryblossom114 the hospital I work at used to use Dict8 and stopped... it just wasn't compatible with the systems we use and caused more problems apparently!

danblack87 · 09/08/2022 18:20

@Frazzledbynature @ od/tds/qds have always been lower case --- you can see that on any Dr's prescription. Sorry but that is not shoddy, that is correct
