Hi all, has anyone else started a new thread yet?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:13

@Chrissols: same experience with shortage or work available yesterday ... I took 10 days off prior to that. Today the dictation is not good and my hopes of it picking up are not looking good ... I enjoyed my break though.

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:21

@user1493458352 : To my knowledge it is one month's time (one year's time, one week's time) and more than one month/week/ days is two months', years', days' time ... it is the placing of the apostrophe that appears to have caused the problem.

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:27

@Frazzledbynature : I don't see any difference between the end of a month or the start of the month unless a bank holiday falls in and then it can be deflating. I try to work out when the bank holidays are coming. Doesn't make any difference I just know that there will not be so much work bank holidays unless there is a backlog of work from a hospital that Dict8 has taken on/ Those times can be lucrative.

I have even been told to put the brand symbol next to it, it it means the difference between a line or not i don't mind, but sometimes i don't know difference between brand and drug name.

They told me to look on google which I have been but clearly some aren’t right, also to look at the bnf for a symbol next to it but I can never find the symbol 🤷🏼‍♀️

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:42

On my template from years ago from Dict8 'Clinic Date: ' if dictated goes at the top of the letter. If the date of clinic is from the same date of the dictation it does not go in brackets. If the date of of the clinic is a day or more older it goes in brackets at the top of the letter. If the Dr mentions the date of the clinic in the body of the letter I do go back to the top of the letter and add it in. Same as if a Dr dictates a part of an address whether to the GP or other I google and type the whole correct address in BUT only if I am sure that the address correlates.

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:46

I am having difficulty with the spell checker though just simple things. I missed out a letter or added a letter and the spell checker would normally pick that up and I can correct the spelling from the dictionary; however, the simplest of one missed placed letter is not being picked up from the dictionary .... is anyone else finding that?

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:48

What a crap day
😎

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 14:52

@Frazzledbynature : I have never been told to put a symbol next to a drug name - I use BNF if I am not sure ... that will guide you in the sort of right direction /// do they mean you to add the symbol for the registered trademark??

danblack87 · 26/07/2022 15:15

Do they mean (R) in a circle on the symbols you can access on the Dict8 Template?

32 years as a med sec and all
my cons profs wanted their drugs with a capital letter. I now have to revert that practice for generic drugs. In the end I just google brand name of … then keep an excel spreadsheet with them on in case I forget which is which. Bit tedious to start with but saves time in the long run. Dictation awful today, enough work but disjointed dictation so you can’t build up a speed.

Frazzledbynature · 26/07/2022 17:34

Yes that's correct Dan, I never bothered until I got feedback - sigh

I'm the same, I keep going pack and deleting the capitals, I must type faster than my brain response, which thinking about is is why I chose this name of mine ha ha!

Frazzledbynature · 26/07/2022 17:38

Forgive my lack of quote Dan and my spellings in the above. My phone isn't as much fun as keyboard😁

Yes I ve noticed the spell checker gets temperamental, not always picking up the incorrect spellings

Gally123 · 26/07/2022 19:01

@user1493458352 -my hospital was the same - drugs with capital letters. So now with DICT8 I do them all with lower case and let the spellcheck hopefully! pick up any that need capitals. I do remember most but this is the way I check.

user1493458352 · 26/07/2022 19:23

Nice to know I’m not going mad and it’s not just me.

Frazzledbynature · 27/07/2022 10:26

Morning,

I've done more on my book than typed letters today, how hard is it to make £20 to cover my monthly bills now.

soul destroying, feast of famine comes to mind...

Chrissols · 27/07/2022 10:57

@Frazzledbynature the dictation is atrocious this morning, thank goodness I have other work to be doing, I couldn't survive on what I make on Dict8 recently

Frazzledbynature · 27/07/2022 12:17

I don't think i heard right when dictation stated "she will be reviewed in 20 years" 😵

I dread next month, seems i got lucky last week or two just crawling up to my target now, i'd love a few days off but i'm loathe to do that and struggle next week, like to be ahead of target now. No winning is there?

see my post above for dictation lol

user1493458352 · 27/07/2022 13:07

Dire dictation, so much double checking to do, struggling to make anything today.

Meha5a · 27/07/2022 14:11

Typing fast and getting nowhere today. If they want such high standards from us maybe the should pull some of these doctors up, blood appalling today.

marieingham · 27/07/2022 16:21

Good afternoon. I've been working for Dict8 for almost a year now, it does seem like a slow torture some days and I'm getting a bit fed up of it. Thought I'd apply for T-Pro, emailed to ask if any vacancies and that I can only do Ophthalmology. They asked for my CV then sent me all the terms and conditions. They proceeded to send me a link for a typing test. They then informed me that they only wanted typists who could type multiple specialities, despite me stating what I was familiar with. Does anyone else work for T-Pro? Thanks

Chrissols · 27/07/2022 17:14

@marieingham NJC are advertising for transcribers on indeed

Gally123 · 27/07/2022 17:36

@marieingham - do the typing test and see - Tpro is VR checking so it is not too bad and although they like you do to all specialties they will let you favour what you know - at my main hospital (I am matched with 2) the eye stuff gets left as few people do it. It takes a while to get into and can be a bit fiddly but better than nothing, esp now they pay the bonus to VR checkers as well
