Looking for people from the previous thread that closed as must of been full?

Checking on Dict8 system - no tasks! Says it all really doesn't it.

Chrissols · 14/08/2020 15:29

It does. I've just actually typed my first letter for them, but am not doing any more till I hear if I have done it correctly or not lol. Have you tried your current foot pedal with their system as mine works perfectly with both

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 14/08/2020 15:57

To be honest I have never used a foot pedal, quite like using the keys so I do not actually have one.
Did you find the formatting OK? Not too difficult hopefully

Chrissols · 14/08/2020 16:17

If I have done it correctly (not heard back yet as my line manager has gone off till Monday now), there doesn't seem to be any formatting, it all seems to be done for you. There are not headings etc to typed as everything is already there. It is purely the body of the letter that is to be typed.

@Gally123 - a work colleague who I covered for (who had been in the NHS for over 20 years at that point) had one doctor with such appalling English that she complained and he had the audacity to accuse her of not being able to comprehend English :0 - she stormed out of the office and the consultant got involved - turned out the doctor was not the doctor his CV said he was !! that was over 30 years ago - not saying that about all doctors.

After doing several dreadful tasks with some of the worst dictation I have ever heard I am now starting to workout how long the task will take (based on the length of previous tasks by said doctor) and how much it's worth. The outcome - waste of my time and skill and not worth it, which is the same sentiment I am beginning to feel about DICT8 too.

linmanuel · 16/08/2020 19:11

Can someone please explain what this is?

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 10:00

@linmanuel - not sure what your asking? Is it the discussion subject your wanting to know? It's a group of Dict8 transcribers as per the heading of the discussion. Are you a transcriber? We all have a good chat/moan/giggle on here as working from home can be very isolating.

Grim morning . again. Two letters typed so far, and very short

danblack87 · 17/08/2020 10:19

I haven't seen anything yet Hmm

Lucylizzy123 · 17/08/2020 10:36

chrissols
How do you get the dictation to start on TPro??!!

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 11:01

@Lucylizzy123 I think it can only be done with a foot pedal. Have had my feedback from weekend and as I thought, there is only the body of the letter to type, everything else is pre-filled so it is very easy. Accents are going to take a bit of time, but that is the case where ever we work isn't it. There are still over 2000 tasks waiting so that's the main thing.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 17/08/2020 11:25

Update: I have now typed 4 short tasks!!

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 11:37

I have not seen one lol......things definitely do not seem to be picking up

I am just researching company called Type Out. Awaiting for a few answers first. They need me to complete the application form and send a copy of my CV. Also I need a USB foot pedal which I do not have at the moment so I will keep you all up-to-date; maybe they are not hiring at the moment, but I think so .. all is not entirely clear at this stage Hmm

danblack87 · 17/08/2020 11:59

Do any of you work for Type Out?

Gally123 · 17/08/2020 12:46

@danblack87 just to say if you buy a foot pedal - I bought my last one with the company recommended by DICT8 - it turned out to be cheaper than amazon or ebay and lasted longer than my 2 previous foot pedals.

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 13:14

I have a Philips foot pedal which works for all three systems I type and cost £40

OP posts:
danblack87 · 17/08/2020 14:18

@Chrisolls: can you give me the details of our Philips foot pedal (type model) it may come in handy . Thanks

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 14:41

@danblack, I will fish out the details this evening and get back to you. It has Philips wrote on it but there are different types, I remember having to send the first one back. I bought it off Amazon though so arrived the following day from ordering.

Chrissols how are you getting on with TPro. Mostly VR stuff isnt it.

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 16:02

@Lucylizzy123 I couldn't see any VR stuff at first so was a bit confused but they ask you to do the non-urgent stuff to start with for two weeks and this didn't seem to have it, unless I was missing something lol. Got an email before having done half a day saying it's ok to go onto the urgents now (not quite two weeks then 😂😂) and they all seem to have it. It's ok, but the letters are short and I'm thinking it may actually be quicker to type them as the VR gets everything.....full stops, new line, coughing that it tries to make into a word etc. I'm very slow at the moment, but can see it will all get easier. Did they say how long your foot pedal would take?

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 17/08/2020 16:07

I have my foot pedal now. Yes I agree I would rather type that edit on VR, it is sometime quicker. They are quite picky arent they - checking everything now.

Chrissols · 17/08/2020 18:09

I think they are just very careful at the beginning, although they are lovely when they come back to you, very supportive

OP posts:
Chrissols · 18/08/2020 08:29

@danblack87 so sorry, the foot pedal I got was £67, it was the £40 one I sent back. The model is Philips ACC2320 and is available on Amazon - I type for three companies and it works fine on all three 😀

OP posts:
danblack87 · 18/08/2020 09:07

@Chrissols: Many thanks for taking the time to look that up for me - I think I will get one regardless of whether I take on another company along with Dict8 (I can set the cost off to tax, so it is not a problem). Cheers Smile.
