Looking for people from the previous thread that closed as must of been full?

That's the same foot pedal as I got through the company recommended by DICT8 where DICT8 typists get 10% discount (I think it was). I paid £61.

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 12:13

@Lucylizzy123 how you finding it today, they certainly move you along fast don't they, but it seems really good

OP posts:
danblack87 · 18/08/2020 12:46

@Gally 123: thanks for that info - it might be worth considering, do I just e-mail DICT8 re. the foot pedal? I had an awful day yesterday nothing to do with work - took over 2 hours to sort!). Just had another shocker someone just tried to use my Visa card in China for a transaction for £300 - sorted - I hate to say, though, I know things come in 3's Sad. Back to work --- I was having a reasonable typing day to start off with today but having to sort out other Sh**e has taken another 2 hours out of today. Do you wonder sometimes if life really has it in for you?

Lucylizzy123 · 18/08/2020 12:49

I think its is really great. I feel I am getting back to a normal structured day, without diving to the screen every minute checking for tasks. There are so many there to choose from. I am getting used to their system now, not too different formatting and stuff, just getting used to their ways really. I will still keep dict8 going for now though, although I see not much there today.

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 12:58

@danblack87 that awful about your credit card, someone did that to me last year the day I was flying out of the country on holiday - it ruined my holiday as had the Fraud Squad contacting me so couldn't get it out of my mind. Hope you get it sorted.
@Lucylizzy123 it is great. I am still unsure with a few things but no doubt they will pick me up on them. I have been told not to choose, but to take the first one off the list as the top ones are the most urgent. I am going to keep Dict8 going as I do really like the work with them, just not enough of it sadly, having said that, I have had loads today.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 18/08/2020 13:37

@danblack87 - if you look on DICT8 website it should give the links/contact info. I think there were 2 companies listed. I might have looked at the company website first to check which pedal I wanted (company DMCL, Dictating Machine Company LTD) then I emailed them directly and they phoned me back to take payment.
Shocker about your credit card, I try to be so careful. I do most of my shopping with cash and my credit cards are non-contactless so I don't get scammed by people with machines walking past etc and only shop online with places like Amazon and ebay, however I do take my cards on holiday for use then and I worry about them being rejected.

Hi everyone

Thought I would post as I have come on here a few times and seem this thread. I am a part time medical secretary and I do typing from home as extra income. I have worked for Wetype and Accuro previously and only have a few files a week sent from Accuro as have been affected by Covid.

I applied for TPro before lockdown but application was put on hold after they sent me info on pay etc due to Covid. I have since emailed them as I really want to get back home working just awaiting a response.

ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 14:10

I'm glad I've found everyone again. When I wasn't getting any notifications about messages on here I was beginning to think everyone was getting lots of work from Dict8 and wondering why there was little or nothing when I logged on! Now I know where you've all been hiding! I'm now more convinced than ever that Dict8 are running the business down, or things have gone badly wrong for them. I would say since lockdown but, as others have also noticed, work was dropping off before that but not to such an extent. I've been working for TPro for over a year now and thankfully there's lots of work. I must admit I do prefer Dict8 as you can work as and when you like with no questions if you don't work. TPro asked to be notified if we are not going to be working for a few days so they can make allowances when allocating work. As someone else mentioned, it's easier in a lot of cases to type the letter in full from dictation as VR picks up and types everything (err, full stop, sorry change that, coughs, etc) so you can spend more time editing and retyping. @Chrissols thanks for starting/continuing this page, it's great to be able to have others in the same position to moan to, ask advice, or just catch up on what's happening.

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 14:15

@ElleBee56 welcome back. We are up to 234 messages on this thread so it will stop again at a 1000. We need to decide what the next thread will be called and who to start it so we can all find it straight away

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 18/08/2020 14:20

Chrissols how do you know how many tasks you have typed with TPro? Is there a running count somewhere on the system?
I will still dip in and out of dict8 as I said because I like the straighforward typing. TPro seem to want you to do all VR, which seems a little bitty to me. However, it is ok. They do want you to do more of this than straight typing, but I will try and mix it up a bit.

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 14:34

@Lucylizzy123 they told me if you would prefer to type, then just delete the VR at the beginning and type as you would a non-VR document. They said quite a few prefer to do it this way. Re tasks, it took me ages to find this lol......go onto dashboard instead of live tasks and you will see July/August at the end with a line through....hover over the very end bottom corner of the line and this will tell you how many characters and minutes you have done, also tasks. I have no idea yet how to do an invoice to them, whether it's by characters or tasks as it doesn't show you how many lines you have done...

ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 14:37

@Chrissols thank you. The way the last thread seemed to take off, especially over these last few months, it won't be long before this thread will be full. Everyone will need to put their thinking caps on to think of a new title for the next thread. @Lucylizzy123 if you go onto Dashboard you'll see a grid stating "volume typed in the last 12 months" and the names of the months at the bottom. If you click on the dot just above the month you're typing it will give you the number of tasks typed, number of characters and minutes completed. On the left, at the top, you'll see what's in QC waiting to be checked. Hope this helps. I agree with you about Dict8's straightforward typing. Sometimes TPro can be a bit of a struggle for me, especially typing specialties I have no experience in, unless the dictation is clear.

ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 15:21

@Chrissols when you type your invoice you will need your name, address, email, the date you send it (this should always be the last day of the month), invoice no (you'll start at 1), TPro's address on the left, then I've typed INVOICE centred and a box with 2 columns, the first one I've typed "Fees for transcription services rendered:" then a couple of spaces below that the month and year you've typed. A couple of spaces below that you type the number of characters , i.e. "12345 characters - TPro (12345 x 0.0011)" again a couple of spaces below that 123 Minutes of Audio. In the right hand column I've got EUR at the top, next to (in the right hand column) "12345 characters, etc" the amount you've earned and then Total (typed in the left hand column) and the amount you've earned in the right hand column. Most importantly at the bottom type "Please make payment to: and then your bank details (Bank, your name, sort code, account no.) I hope that makes sense!!!

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 16:21

@ElleBee56 thanks for that, hopefully I will get it correct, but I'm sure they will let me know if I don't. Finding it all pretty confusing at the moment, but I'm sure it will get easier, it's just new 🥴

OP posts:
ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 16:30

@Chrissols you're welcome. They usually email at the end of the month to remind us to send an invoice although I haven't had the email over the last couple of months. I still find some of it confusing, especially when I get different templates for different specialties! More often than not though it's pretty straightforward and someone's usually there on chat if you need help.

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 16:38

@ElleBee56 My head is just baffled at the moment, lol. Am just trying to keep to very short ones. I am doing write just typing the body?

OP posts:
ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 16:58

@Chrissols yes, I think so. You should have "Letter to GP" at the top as usual then Re: patient's name followed by "Dear Doctor" (if doctor's name is given type that - Dr ***). If you have the doctor's address type that in the usual place. The rules are different to Dict8, like putting Re: before Dear Dr. Once you're used to it they might add other work with different templates and layouts, just to cause a bit more confusion, but they're pretty good and if you don't like it you can always ask not to have that particular work. It took me a while to get the hang of it and even now, over a year later, I get confused! Probably my age, I need to retire!!!! Smile

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 17:04

@ElleBee56 ahhhh I haven't been putting 'letter to GP' but they haven't said anything........yet. I don't think they will be adding another for a while lol. It's all new to me, including the specialities I seem to be typing, I have never done them before so it's very slow going at the moment

OP posts:
ElleBee56 · 18/08/2020 17:15

They'll let you know if you've done anything wrong, although you shouldn't worry about that at the moment. They're pretty good at giving feedback and you can always mark anything you don't understand for QC. I'm still not confident with a lot of what I'm typing as, like you, I haven't typed a lot of these different specialties.

Lucylizzy123 · 18/08/2020 18:33

I was very confused at first, as I was not really aware that the majority of the work was VR, and going into the body of the letter fazed me a bit. However, I am okay now, although feel I am just doing very basic stuff. I have done quite a lot of specialites before, even though I only have one specialty with dict8, so that hasnt thrown me too much.
I dont want to do too much other than basic typing for the next few days and just getting that fixed in my head before changing templates, GP addresses etc. Baby steps for me I think! I did feel very stupid yesterday having to have things explained to me, but in reality plunging into a completely new system is quite difficult. I always find face to face tuition easier, but obviously not possible in this case.

I am sure we will all be okay as we get used to the system. They do seem to be a supportive team and seem to have your back.

Ces6 · 18/08/2020 18:39

Hello. I am curious about whether I would be accepted or not to work for Dict8. I have worked as a medical secretary but it was over 20 years ago and I don't have any references! Hopeless case or do you think there is a chance?

Chrissols · 18/08/2020 18:40

Out of the three I type for, this one has to be the most confusing lol, but it will become second nature in time.......certainly going to keep at, there is definitely no shortage of work which is fantastic.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 18/08/2020 19:17

@Ces6 they are not actually recruiting at the moment as far as I am aware, but they do require references from a hospital manager, or at least they did when I first started.

OP posts:
Ces6 · 19/08/2020 06:48

@Chrissols Ok, thanks.

Chrissols · 19/08/2020 12:32
