@danblack87 thanks for the info, think I will give it a miss lol. Worked 20+ years in hospitals and don't want to go back there. Will be very patient in the hope work picks up with Dict8 🙄🙄

There have been no tasks for me today. This is a first. Not sure what is going on.

Chrissols · 12/08/2020 16:21

@Lucylizzy123 that's how it was for me yesterday, and not that many today. I wondered if the storms had anything to do with it, we have them bad round here at the moment and yesterday.

OP posts:
danblack87 · 12/08/2020 16:25

@Chrissols: I agree with your sentiments completely that is why I do no want to go back there again.. I need to look at other options. Good Luck in whatever you choose to do. Smile.

Meha5 · 13/08/2020 11:53

I've worked for a few consultants in the privately - hasn't been the greatest experience for me.

Nothing for me at the moment - seems to pick up late evenings at the moment.

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 12:36

@Lucylizzy123 did you have your tutorial with T-pro? Just wondering what your thoughts on it were?

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 12:48

HI Chrissols, yes I did yesterday. I was quite impressed with them. They sound more caring of their transcribers don't they. I am going to join them because I think the future is probably more reliable. They need 50,000 letters transcribed each month apparently so it sounds like there will be loads of work. I guess my only very slight reservation is they do expect a large volume of work to be typed, which is absolutely fine for me, but there would be times when maybe I would like to ease off the throttle a bit, and how they would think about that? The only other very slight reservation is getting used to Irish accents!! All in all I was impressed.

How did yours go and will you be progressing with them?

Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 12:51

Also another thought - they are more progessive with their pay, so they pay every month into your account - no waiting for the postman any more - and I like that they also do some voice recognition which you can either edit yourself or re-type, and even if you just do the editing route and no actual typing on that file, you will still get paid the same word count.

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 13:17

Yes, I was impressed by the caring attitude. She didn't say how much they expected done (I didn't ask which I should have done). How much did they tell you? I have already signed the contract they just sent through but want to keep on for Dict8 also so interested to know how many hours they want putting in?

Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 13:24

Hi,

When I spoke to Laura she personally did not indicate the number of letters, just some paperwork she emailed through later which said for to make it worthwhile about150 letters a weeutk. I didnt think that was too bad, in the good days with Dict8 I would like to type about 40/50 a day so really not more than Dict8. I didnt check out the pay rate, I assume its the same as DICT8 but they do pay a"bonus" for the more work you produce don't they. I am about to sign my contract too. I am also going to keep Dict8 going for now.

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 13:31

150 letters doesn't sound too bad, depending on the size of course, but few hospital letters are really long. The pay is slightly less than Dict8 but the bonus will taken it above and it sounds easily achievable

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 13:35

I just checked. It is 150 letters a week they like which like you I dont think sounds too bad. Should be able to just sit and have a session each am/pm or whenever, rather than the endless waiting around for tasks to come through with Dict8.

Good to have a new challenge though isn't it.

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 13:52

It is good, will be glad once used to the system though as that's always a bit daunting at first lol.........

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 14:11

I know, but I am sure we felt the same when we started with Dict8 and now everything is second nature to us isnt it.

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 15:16

@Lucylizzy123 sorry I must sound very naive, are you just going to be paid the euros to your usual bank account? I am unsure how this works.

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 13/08/2020 16:32

Well I think it will just go straight into your bank account and be converted by the bank - probably for a small charge. I am not too sure actually. Perhaps other T-Pro workers on this forum might be able to enlighten us?

Chrissols · 13/08/2020 16:54

I spoke to my bank just before to ask, they said it would be T-Pros bank who would hopefully pay the charges......

OP posts:
Gally123 · 14/08/2020 09:38

I really hope I hear from T-Pro soon re my application, getting really fed up with DICT8, now a few more letters on the system but the quality is really poor, not sure which is better - fewer letters but ones I can hear clearly and understand what is being said, or more letters that I struggle through!

Also, I was talking to one of my friends last night who is a self-published author (Amazon KDP) and she often gets paid from America in dollars. She does not pay any bank fees for conversion to pounds; Amazon pay their end. However, when she sold some short stories to a chap overseas and he paid via Paypal she did have to pay a fee to receive the funds (and so did he to send the money) so it depends on which payment system is used, but if T-Pro pay using a 'normal' regular bank it seems typists should not pay have to pay a fee to receive their pay.

And by the by, my friend has one of her books in an Amazon competition this month, which is judged partly on the number of downloads and reviews it receives. To aid this she has listed the ebook as free to download this weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), so if you would like a free copy to read and review it is called "Playing With Fire" by Flora McGowan. It is a cozy style clean romantic suspense set in Sicily. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Chrissols · 14/08/2020 10:02

@Gally123 I will download a copy later. T-Pro will probably contact you soon as she said they were actively recruiting anyone that had completed the typing test before lock-down as their work has really picked up

Re: Changing euros to sterling - I am sure I have read on the old thread someone who works for T-Pro and gets paid in euros. I think they opened a separate bank account for the euros to be exchanged into sterling without paying a fee, but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the bank - maybe worth checking the old thread for more information. Smile

Chrissols · 14/08/2020 10:23

No tasks showing again today 😥😥

OP posts:
Chrissols · 14/08/2020 11:04

Can't understand where all the usual consultants have gone.......only seem to be getting really bad dictations at the moment......they cannot have just disappeared

OP posts:
Gally123 · 14/08/2020 11:45

@Chrissols - I am glad it is not just me finding the dictations difficult to hear properly at the moment, I was beginning to wonder if I was feeling a bit paranoid!

I just wish DICT8 (or the hospitals) would give better guidance to some of their doctors over how to dictate - after all, it is in their best interests that we do not make too many mistakes; if dictators were clearer, spoke slower, with less background noise (ie don't dictate in a crowded room and if you do, don't whisper) etc it would make the checking of it their end quicker and easier.

At all the hospitals I have worked at guidance was given - and if it was ignored the doctors might find people not typing their letters until they re-dictated properly. We even had one consultant from another hospital that was sent to us for retraining as his dictation was so bad and no-one at his own hospital would type his letters. He was a pleasant chap, just no-one could understand a word he said when he dictated.

Chrissols · 14/08/2020 11:56

@Lucylizzy123 have you logged into T-pro yet? I cannot do any tasks yet till I have a remote session next week.........but 2066 tasks waiting to be typed!!!! I do not think we will be short of something to do lol

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 14/08/2020 12:31

Hi, Just logged in actually. Yes amazing. I have a call later with one of he team leaders, but I cant get started until they send me a foot pedal and probably need to go over things again. The instructions look okay dont they, I think it will just be a case of getting used to the system and then we shoudl be away. Feeling positive.
