Looking for people from the previous thread that closed as must of been full?

OP posts:
Chrissols · 30/12/2020 16:54

Just gone up into Tier 4 from Tier 2. Very quiet New Year it will be.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 30/12/2020 17:20

yes, we have gone up to tier 4 and tier 2. My New Year is usually quiet, just phone the family at midnight.

Chrissols · 30/12/2020 17:26

My new year is never extreme, but usually have a couple of friends round for a few glasses of wine. I will probably be asleep before midnight tomorrow 🥳🥳

musicismagic333 · 30/12/2020 17:32

Yep, we're in tier 4 tomorrow. Be interesting to see how the people around here bend the rules to enjoy themselves like at Xmas.

Chrissols · 30/12/2020 17:38

Yes my neighbour will definitely be 'bending' the rules. She has done all the way through, party after party, and she's a nurse for goodness sake.

Just driven past a cafe, really crowded. People sat on bar stools huddled together. Ridiculous under the circumstances.

Chrissols · 30/12/2020 20:33

At least the new rules have come in at midnight this time rather than a few days later as in the past

OP posts:
Chrissols · 31/12/2020 12:55

Gosh, how quiet is it today.....one task 🙄

OP posts:
danblack87 · 31/12/2020 14:10

@Chrissols: Yes it is exceptionally quiet. I wonder if tasks will be uploaded later before 'knocking off' for the day? I assume clinics have been reduced for New Year's Eve but this is extraordinary by any standards. I have seen about 15 or so which are un-typable!!

Gally123 · 31/12/2020 14:15

Pleased to say I have had a much better morning than recently, more tasks and better sound. Might log on again later this afternoon, one or two other things to sort out first.

Chrissols · 31/12/2020 14:18

@danblack87 I think I can honestly say it the quietest I have ever seen

Happy New Year 🎉🎉

musicismagic333 · 02/01/2021 11:40

Happy New Year. My reference is on its way to Dict8. Which specialties do you tend to do? Think I'll only be able to do Medicine for the Elderly.

Chrissols · 02/01/2021 12:17

Hi @musicismagic333 they will match you to a speciality/s you have experience in only, at least this is what happened with me

OP posts:
Gally123 · 02/01/2021 12:21

@musicismagic333 - just a reminder as you are new to this thread - it is not a good idea to post anything about yourself by which DICT8 may be able to identify you. They have on occasions in the past had staff posing as typists posting comments etc plus Mumsnet is viewable to a lot of people. There may be times when you feel like a rant, you have received some unfavourable or unfair feedback and feel the need to let off steam. It has happened to most of us. We have no idea who you are from your name here, however if you state things like your specialty DICT8 can find out who you are and that makes letting off steam for you a little difficult, in that you might find you then receive more bad feedback, tasks dry up or you only seem to get the poor quality ones.

At the moment DICT8 do not seem to have found this thread but it might only be a matter of time.

Hope the consultants are back at work this on Monday - had no work for days so could do with an influx

OP posts:
Gally123 · 03/01/2021 09:23

just a quick question - has anyone used Express scribe? I have tried to see if it is compatible with my foot pedal (yes, just about) but I am finding it difficult to use. I tried watching a YouTube clip but could not follow the instructions on getting the dictations to "load" etc; it worked once and now I am stuck. I just wondered if anyone had used it for typing private work as opposed to NHS. Thanks.

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 09:37

@gally123, I do use it but it’s a case of just press and play, although for some reason it will only play pressing left side of foot pedal as opposed to the right 🙃. Foot pedals are a bit sensitive to how many systems they are on, I type for three, one is the right side, one is the middle, and the other the left

OP posts:
Gally123 · 03/01/2021 09:46

@Chrissols - but how do you get successive dictations to play? I only managed one but then could not get the Express Scribe to play any other dictations. Someone suggested uninstalling and then re-installing in between every dictation, which seems a bit odd, not to mention fiddly and time consuming. Thanks.

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 09:50

It wouldnt be very time effective to uninstall repeatedly, I do have to clear the database a lot on one system I work on, but I couldn’t tell you how to do it on a system I don’t use. Is it for we type by any chance?

OP posts:
Chrissols · 03/01/2021 09:52

@Gally123 sorry, should of tagged you on that last post

OP posts:
Gally123 · 03/01/2021 10:05

@Chrissols - yes it is.

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 10:17

@Gally123 I had problems with theirs also, they sent three test ones, I could only play two. They sent a fourth to try but couldn’t get that to play either. I gave up in the end, but that was after trying everything I could possibly think of. Sorry I’m no more help, if you find a solution let me know.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 03/01/2021 10:45

@Gally123 was it the test files you could not do? I cannot help if it was others as I never got past the test files, but have just been back to those and now got them to play. All I did was save them first from the email. Hope this helps.
