It looks like many of us are in the same boat at the moment, but it's good to have each other's support and advice on here and the humour!

@danblack87 - Ha yes, we have black and white - sorted!

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 13:45

I love the interaction and the humour makes the day seem shorter some how; we are not on our own even though we do not know each other we can symmetrise!! - I am still giggling @Chrissols response to 'cockwombles' it did the same thing to me the first time I heard it AND still does,- says it all me thinks Blush

Chrissols · 14/12/2020 13:47

@danblack87 I will be looking now for situations to use it in.......fab word ......I am going to save it for something really appropriate hahaha 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
danblack87 · 14/12/2020 13:53

@Chrissols: I agree I heard it about 8 months ago and have used it three times ... it is so descriptive, without explanation, BUT is only good in certain scenarios ... your experience totally fits that phrase!!

Chrissols · 14/12/2020 16:12

Very strange today, been no shortage of tasks whatsoever till about an hour and a half ago, then absolutely nothing.......first time that's happened in a while..... @danblack87 I can feel a word coming on 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
danblack87 · 14/12/2020 16:28

I don' think cockwomble is the word you are looking for in this instance, it is more about people being complete 'dicks' whether they be male or female. I have given up today ... tomorrow is another day ... You made me laugh though. Seems to have had a good impression on you and given all a laugh ... Hey ho, merry xmas all x

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 16:36

@Chrissols: Second time I used 'cockwomble' was referring to my daughter's partner (father of my grandchild) who decided that he was probably not wanting to continue the relationship but didn't know why ?? --- my response 'Dear N, children and partners are not people you throw away B4 Chistmas just to make way for a 'good new year, whatever that may be .. think on?' For Dict8 challenges let's make a new word, how about #cockweebles!!!!! hahahahahaha

Chrissols · 14/12/2020 16:46

@danblack87 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 brilliant hahahaha

OP posts:
danblack87 · 14/12/2020 16:53

@Chrissols: This has been the most funny day today and I am still laughing ... your response is exactly the same as mine was/is. hhHhHHA Wink Wine hhHhHhaaaaa

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining you on here with a question. I’ve been with DICT8 for about 4 years though been a bit quiet this year 😩. My question is this latest self employed grant from the gov has different criteria mainly relating to having less work available and being prepared to prove it. Now I’ve added up my earnings for these 3 months for the past 4years and I’m way below the average so to me that’s proof. Has anyone actually asked DICT8 whether the amount of work in their specialities has dropped significantly because obviously that would be definitive proof (apologies if this has already been discussed but haven’t seen it in the thread) TIA

Gally123 · 14/12/2020 20:08

@Maisiemel - Hello, I think we are only too pleased to have you join our little group; it is nice having people to share experiences, moans with etc.

I was thinking just the other day that it was about time that DICT8 sent out another email to update us on the situation, as that might help your cause.

I have not received any emails from HMRC regarding their webinars recently but if you could attend one of those you could ask them what proof they needed and whether what you had was enough or whether they needed something from DICT8 as you suggest to indicate your intention to work but lack of opportunity. If you do attend a webinar I found it easiest to write my question in advance and then cut and paste it into their text box.

Chrissols · 15/12/2020 10:04

@Maisiemel welcome to the group, it's good to be able to vent off sometimes with the group as the people on here are the only ones that understand our plight......Sorry, I am unable to provide any input on the grant situation as due to a small private pension I have I was deemed not eligible to claim from the start, annoying as my pension is only £200 a month so doesn't pay the bills.......

Chrissols · 15/12/2020 10:17

I'm having one of those days where the tasks are there, but they are awful.......

OP posts:
Maisiemel · 15/12/2020 11:39

Thanks for your advice and sorry to hear that Chrissols - that’s really rubbish. I woke up this morning with a devil may care attitude and am currently spreading the grant money now on line whilst having no work to do!
There’s been nothing in my specialities all morning though when I get work I have to say most of it is well dictated. It helps that one of their contracts is consultants I used to work for...

danblack87 · 15/12/2020 12:30

@Chrissols: You having #cock-weebles day!!

Chrissols · 15/12/2020 12:45

@danblack87 hahaha......I certainly am, but giggled as soon as I saw that......it's just always going to have that effect on me now 😂😂😂😂

OP posts:
danblack87 · 15/12/2020 13:14

@Chrissols: Good we can laugh - makes the day go easier. I actually have had a good day so far --- no complaints Smile.

danblack87 · 15/12/2020 14:59

Following this morning this afternoon has not been too great. There is plenty on but they are not clear to hear. Sad

Chrissols · 15/12/2020 17:43

I have seen loads of work all day today, a lot really difficult to hear but certainly no shortage which has to be good

OP posts:
Chrissols · 16/12/2020 18:47

Another really busy day.......the clearer ones seem to be later on in the day for me

OP posts:
Chrissols · 17/12/2020 16:51

First email in a long long time saying there's a lot of work to be done 😀😀 Hope it carries on after Christmas

OP posts:
deewu · 17/12/2020 17:10

I had one of those a couple of days ago. There had been more than the usual amount of work that day but still not brilliant, at the time the email arrived there were 4 absolutely dreadful tasks waiting to be typed and the number didn't really improve!!!! I just hope no one dashed home expecting to be able to type for a couple of hours.

Gally123 · 17/12/2020 17:17

I had one of those emails earlier - however logged on and all five tasks on offer were impossible to make head nor tail of, so logged off again. Just typed one letter now.

Chrissols · 17/12/2020 17:36

I have been really busy all week but suspect it is just the Christmas flurry, although I would love to be proved wrong.....

OP posts:
Chrissols · 18/12/2020 12:37
