@flutterby18: My Specialities are ENT, Plastic Surgery, Oral Medicine (although is really not on the table right now) and Maxfax - is that a match for your Specialities Blush

flutterby18 · 12/12/2020 16:45

@danblack87 - Just the one which I suspected - ENT Smile

Gally123 · 12/12/2020 17:13

@danblack87 - some years ago I helped out in orthopaedics (not my usual department), was paid overtime, which these days is an unusual event in the NHS - but their back log of typing was SIX months! People were scheduled for operations with no relevant letters in the notes and being seen in clinic with the previous letter or even two letters not typed. Very unsafe, hence they put a call out for any and all help. Only three of us in my department agreed. I don't know why the situation was allowed to get that bad, but took the opportunity to earn some extra money to allow me to save up to move house.

danblack87 · 13/12/2020 13:09

I would love to add Orthopaedics to my Specialities for Dict8 but, unfortunately, have not been successful in securing that to date. NOt even viable to request at the moment!!

Gally123 · 13/12/2020 13:47

@danblack87 - you should try Tpro with the hospital I am linked to there is lots of orthopaedic work - people are expected to try their hand at all the specialties but my hospital seems to be orthopaedics, dermatology, nephrology, endocrinology plus breast and urology and some ophthalmology.

On a different note - just had to call out emergency electrician as lights kept going - now £200 poorer....

Chrissols · 13/12/2020 14:37

No, I requested another specialty just coming up to pandemic, have been told no extra specialities will be added to anyone for the foreseeable ☹️☹️ @Gally123 gosh that’s a lot of money, bet it didn’t take them long either

Gally123 · 13/12/2020 14:57

@Chrissols when I phoned at lunchtime I was told that the charge would be £160 +VAT or wait until tomorrow - but my lights keep going out and the switch flicking on fuse box so did not want to risk it - or try cooking by torch light later and sitting in the dark all evening - turned out to be rain getting into an old security light on the garage (that has never worked anyway). Took him about 30 mins to find the fault and disconnect that bit (as don't need a light that does not work) and check everything else worked ok.

Chrissols · 13/12/2020 15:04

@Gally123 If only Dict8 paid those rates.......🤣😂😂🤣🤣

Chrissols · 13/12/2020 16:14

I was supposed to be moving house around now, and the seller changed his mind at the witching hour. I am now saddled with a solicitors bill of £1800 for surveys, searches for both selling my own and buying the new.......it's criminal that they are allowed to do this. I was moving to a cheaper property to my solicitors bills will intended to be covered in it all, now I have to find it.......hoping for a busy time on Dict8!!

OP posts:
Chrissols · 13/12/2020 16:15

You can tell I was angry typing that by all the typos 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Gally123 · 13/12/2020 17:41

@Chrissols- I'm so sorry, that is really frustrating. Will your solicitor hold the bills over until you can sell or are they insisting on payment now? It is a few years since I last moved and rules were slightly different then but I now how you feel with buyers pulling out although that happened to me only a few days after an offer was put in so not much had been done, but it is heart breaking.

Chrissols · 13/12/2020 17:50

@Gally123 have decided to stay put now as don’t think I could go through this again, apparently it is happening more than ever at the moment. It was the person selling that pulled out, I was all packed living out of boxes ready to move.......he should foot the bill in my eyes but he gets away with it which seems unjust

OP posts:
Chrissols · 13/12/2020 17:50

Plus, because of him my buyer is out of pocket and let down

OP posts:
Gally123 · 13/12/2020 17:53

@Chrissols - perhaps the seller had a problem with the place he was buying? I have been lucky - moved three times and only had very shorts chains.

Chrissols · 13/12/2020 18:21

@Gally123 apparently, he should not have had it on the market as he wasn’t the sole owner so he was trying it own at other people’s expense

OP posts:
Gally123 · 13/12/2020 19:10

@Chrissols - that's dreadful. Sounds like a divorce, or perhaps family disputing a will. I agree with your earlier comment, he should be made to foot some, if not all, of your expenses and anyone else affected. Or the estate agent who agreed to promote the sale without checking all the details.

Meha5 · 14/12/2020 10:57

Morning all - hope its a week full of tasks and clear dictation for everyone 🎅🤶🎅🤶🤣🤣🤣

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 11:34

@Meha5: yes, let's hope ... so far, more than half have been undecipherable for me Xmas Hmm!

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 11:52

@Gally123: sorry to hear about the problems with your lights. Typical isn't it; I have found that something always goes wrong with the boiler ar a leak somewhere near christmas that means forking out when you really do not need the expense and, particularly, with work being so bloody dire at the moment Flowers.

Gally123 · 14/12/2020 12:16

@danblack87 - oh yes, my boiler broke two years ago at the end of November - no heating. I was lucky in that I was able to heat water electrically. Unfortunately, the boiler man I had at the time was not 100% sure of the fault and recommended a new boiler, which was installed nearly two weeks later, however proper checks were not carried out and it failed to work after three days. After two further calls outs where his workers could not identify the fault he refused to come out again unless I paid more money. I had no heating over Christmas or New Year except for one heater, which I moved around the house. I decided to have a second opinion and that man thought it was a condensing pump fault but suggested I contact the new boiler manufacturer for confirmation, who confirmed a blockage and managed a temporary fix to the condensing pump and gave me the details to pass on to the original installer to fix properly. He refused, disagreeing with the findings. So I was advised to contact the Gas Safety people who visited on 31 January and subsequently ordered the installer to return the next day, remove the faulty blocked condensing pump - which was the cause of my old boiler's failure; there had been nothing wrong with the actual boiler itself, it appeared, and provide a soakaway. The Safety Gas man said all work should be guaranteed for a year and no way should he have tried to charge me extra to fix his negligence as he had not checked the pump was blocked before he connected the new boiler to it.

So I had a huge bill for a new boiler and labour etc (which was unnecessary as there had been nothing wrong with the old boiler), disruption to work with a succession of workmen visits and extremely limited hot water and heating for about two months at the worst time of the year.

Whitestar5 · 14/12/2020 12:19

There's always something to fork out for isn't there, especially in the winter. I've had problems with my boiler and my car. There's been a reasonable amount of work available on DICT8, but mostly short tasks, plus the dreaded 'notes box' messages, so not so lucrative.

BTW Just looking at my username and hope it doesn't sound racist lol - it actually relates to the white hair marking on a horse's head call a star Smile, it's all I could think of at the time.

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 12:59

@Whitestar5: Never crossed my mind about your 'tag' being racist; nor mine for that matter, 'danblack87'!!
@Gally123: Luckily my boiler was insured and fixed through rental but, same as you, I had three or four visits to try and fix the problem but was without gas central heating and hot water for six weeks, end November to mid-Jan!!

Guy's we just do not need these problems right now following a SH++e year with COVID Xmas Angry and barely enough money to make ends meet as it is Biscuit.

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 13:14

@Chrissols: I don't even know what to put about your awful experience/dilemma ... just capped off your year I guess Sad. The world is full of 'cockwombles' this year - that is about all I can say. Sorry you are have a really bad time Wine virtual clink, clink of glasses with your for Xmas.

Chrissols · 14/12/2020 13:22

@danblack87 well your description has cheered me up......proper giggling.....'cockwombles' 🤣🤣🤣fantastic. We all sound like we have had our fair share......so glad for this site

danblack87 · 14/12/2020 13:34

@Chrissols: I am glad you like the term 'cockwombles'. I have used the term only 3 times since I heard it (my Partner's daughter) but it expresses so much and, like you, it makes me laugh to the Max ... in some instances it is so 'fitting' to use it hahahahahahahahahaha Grin.
