Civil Service Pre-Employment checks- how long?!

Hi,

I’ve currently been waiting 8 weeks to receive a formal offer for the Home Office. I have completed the Security Vetting questionnaire which now shows as completed on their site.

Any idea how much longer I should expect to wait? I applied for this job a year ago! It seems like it’s no secret but their recruitment process seems so clumsy!

One week and one day gone by after my ctc has been completed and I still haven’t heard nothing.

I feel very lost right now

After 1 month, I finally got my CTC clearance. I got an email on Monday asking about someone who used to live at my address before me, I confirmed the person doesn't live there anymore.
Then I checked my Spam mail last night, I saw that they sent the CTC clearance on Thursday.
SO happy.
For some reason, I didn't see the mail in spam when I checked on my mobile phone on Thursday and Friday. Only when I checked on Laptop .

Good news I have received my SC letter via email. I finally feel like I’m going somewhere 😩🎉

I applied in very late 2017 for a probation service role, got an interview January 2018 Was just down on a point in my interview so put on merit list. I got another job but then on 20th september I was provisionally offered another job within the National Probation service. I accepted straight away, got my pre-employment checks straight away and today, (17th October) I had an email confirming my vetting had been successfully completed and could i confirm if I still wanted the role and if I needed to hand notice. I’ve replied however found a hiccup. For some reason the server is rejecting my email address. I called them and they said it HAS to be via this email to accept the verbal offer.

I know this may have been me jumping the gun a little but I’ve handed my notice in now and am due to (hopefully) start on 12th November. This is without an official start date, but a worked out one.

I’ve been through different security vettings for my history of employment, from NPPV 3 through to this current. They’ve all been quite nerve wrecking! Good luck to all of you! I’m glad it’s not just me being a worrier!

Hi, have you been chasing them up? I received my job offer on the same day as you but haven’t heard anything for just under 2 months now? Also still don’t have my CTC link yet either

All CTC checks are different depending on personal and family history. I submitted my answers and received clearance a week later..then my job start date less than a week after that..

Hi Naturetree, I have emailed HR a few times but didn't get a response so I'm not sure if my chasing up had any effect. It's been just over 3 weeks since I submitted the details for my referees, which is the last time I gave them any information. Hope that helps.

Did you try calling them? I never got any responses via e-mail but when I called them they sorta had to deal with me in the there and now.

I just need to rant.
Civil service recruitment procedure has to be the worst procedure ever.
It has caused me so much stress it’s unBelievable. If they don’t change they will lose good candidates

Hi Naturetree. I chased them up when i was going through mine. I rang the number at the bottom of my pre-employment checks e-mail. Or whichever one has an applicant number on so they can reference you quicker. :)
