Civil Service Pre-Employment checks- how long?!

Hi,

I’ve currently been waiting 8 weeks to receive a formal offer for the Home Office. I have completed the Security Vetting questionnaire which now shows as completed on their site.

Any idea how much longer I should expect to wait? I applied for this job a year ago! It seems like it’s no secret but their recruitment process seems so clumsy!

Anyone? Thanks!

I am in the same situation I got a provisional offer in July 2018 for Home Office EO (Immigration enforcement). Got an email with CTC link so that’s in progress at the moment. Got an email this morning to resend my preemployment forms

I'm getting a bit fed up of waiting now. I received CTC over 2 weeks ago but no formal offer. I've emailed recruitment but they dont know either and the kids nursery places are only being held for a limited time Sad.

geowest · 24/09/2018 05:11

How long did you wait between submitting your forms and receiving notice that you got your formal offer?

geowest · 24/09/2018 05:12

Turexy - why did they tell you to resubmit your forms?

ChristineG75 · 24/09/2018 08:09

I have had 2 courtesy calls now asking if i have received my security link..apparently mine was sent out on 22nd august!! I havent received it still. I since emailed them last week and they said they have escalated this with the security tem to re-send it...itl be yet another week this coming thursday so lets see......anyone else had this many problems??

Turexy · 24/09/2018 13:04

@Geowest, the email wasn’t specific I was just told I filled it out wrong & I need to resubmit the forms. Silly really. Have you had anything back yet?

ChristineG75 · 25/09/2018 08:58

Finally received my SC link...anyone know how much longer il have to wait once its been sent off?

Turexy · 25/09/2018 09:21

@ChristineG75 it varies. Been waiting to be clear for about 3 weeks. In other trends, some people were cleared in less than 3 weeks

ChristineG75 · 25/09/2018 09:31

That's good to hear! I was thinking it maybe another couple of months

thinkaboutit999 · 25/09/2018 09:44

Christine, I think a lot of it depends on how complex your history is. So lots of house moves, job changes, family complexities will lengthen the process. If it’s all very straightforward then it’s far easier for them to check.

I was a little under 3 weeks getting clearance.

ChristineG75 · 25/09/2018 09:54

@thinkaboutit999 It should be straight forward then as I've had no other addresses for over 15 years..everything was easy to answer and not lengthy at all. Feel like I'm getting somewhere at last..just fingers crossed i complete it successfully..no reason why i shouldn't

Naturetree · 25/09/2018 18:16

I also received a provisional offer for EO caseworker on 29th June but haven’t had an update yet, it’s been almost 3 months, has anyone in the same boat heard anything back?

geowest · 26/09/2018 02:53

@Turexy

No I haven't heard anything back yet - almost 8 weeks now

ChristineG75 · 02/10/2018 17:21

So i finally sent off my CTC clearance on the 25th..and today just over a week its saying completed..anyone know what the next stage will be?

Naturetree · 02/10/2018 17:58

Where can you see that it says completed, I want to check my status?

Turexy · 02/10/2018 18:01

@ChristineG75 that’s great. I think as long as the pre employment checks are completed too. All u need now is your start date. Let us know when u get ur start date x

ChristineG75 · 02/10/2018 18:04

I logged in to the CTC portal..the one where you create a password to complete the security link..it said in progress this morning. Now it says completed Smile

ChristineG75 · 02/10/2018 18:05

@turexy i will...fingers crossed for us all

MonsterRehab23 · 02/10/2018 20:55

After sending an enquiry email I’ve actually received a start date Grin. Sounds like all our applications are now making progress!!

Turexy · 02/10/2018 21:19

@MonsterRehab23, that’s great. How long did u have to wait for ur CTC to be completed? And when is ur start date ?

ChristineG75 · 02/10/2018 22:15

@MonsterRehab23 thats great news! when did you complete you CTC? And when is your start date? X

MonsterRehab23 · 03/10/2018 00:14

Thanks. Start date is 5th November. I waited 3 weeks for CTC clearance (5th September). I probably only found out my start date as I emailed (annoyed) Home Officr recruitment as to the status of application. Apparently the next step is Shared Services for contract. I’ve got a lot of work and childcare stuff to sort out but tonight I’m just happy I’ve got a start date.

Hope everyone else hears soon, if clearance is complete hopefully won’t be too long. Apparently recruitment is slow during the summer due to annual leave but picks up in the autumn, and of course Brexit doesn’t help. Fingers crossed for everyone

RocaRoca · 05/10/2018 15:07

Hiya, I have a provisional offer for a home office EO role, submitted my CTC form on 13 Sept 18. It does say completed on there.. please does it mean checks are okay? Also, I noticed it only says CTC. No SC?

MonsterRehab23 · 05/10/2018 15:28

Hi RocaRoca, if checks are complete then you should be fine. They will also email you a letter saying your checks are satisfactory.
