Civil Service Pre-Employment checks- how long?!

Hi,

I’ve currently been waiting 8 weeks to receive a formal offer for the Home Office. I have completed the Security Vetting questionnaire which now shows as completed on their site.

Any idea how much longer I should expect to wait? I applied for this job a year ago! It seems like it’s no secret but their recruitment process seems so clumsy!

Anyone? Thanks!

@Dollondon that’s great when is your start date?
Finally after 8 weeks my CTC Clearance is finally saying Completed. Finger crossed start dates soon

Naturetree · 05/11/2018 10:04

Has anyone with the EO caseworker role started recently in the London office? in my interview they said it would be a brand new office somewhere in west London. I am wondering if anyone knows exactly where it is so I can see how long it takes whilst I wait for my application to process?

Dollondon · 05/11/2018 19:30

@turexy what will happen now isyoukk receive an email with a clearance approval letter attached.

After that I waited 2/3 weeks to be contacted

Thank you so much. I’m starting in a weeks time.

tashajob · 06/11/2018 22:34

@Dollondon how much notice did they give you for your start date? I can't remember if they asked how much we needed in our application.

Turexy · 06/11/2018 23:12

@tashajob that’s true. I hope they are giving enough time for notice. Cos I need at least 4 weeks notice in my current job. For those given start dates, how much notice did u get

Dollondon · 06/11/2018 23:23

@tashajob @turexy they don’t state nothing aboout notice.

What will happen is when you get your official offer they will contact you so you can both agree on a start date.
I am well I was unemployed so I am available to start as soon as possible

NymeriaRhaenys · 07/11/2018 00:29

I didn’t get any notice period myself. Mainly because i requested the following Monday after the last friday I leave (this Friday!! :O) my current job!

All I’d say is if you need a quicker time, hound them on the phone. It’s what I did. Grin

Dollondon · 07/11/2018 00:32

@nymeriarhaenys with my last job before I was unemployed I handed in my notice and stated my own leaving date as well🤣 I said my last day will be at the end of this working week.

Chevonn · 08/11/2018 16:25

Still awaiting my security questionnaire 7 weeks after getting a provisional offer. That is long

Naturetree · 08/11/2018 16:48

You should call them up. I called them the other day to realise they sent the link to the wrong email address 2 months ago!! Double check they have all your details correct

Chevonn · 08/11/2018 17:02

@naturettee what number did you get them on?

Naturetree · 08/11/2018 17:14

@Chevonn 01904662644

Chevonn · 08/11/2018 17:26

Thank you will phone up tomorrow

tashajob · 12/11/2018 18:20

I've finally received my security clearance! Does anyone know who I should contact from here? I know everyone's said that it takes 2 weeks or so for them to sort out a start date but I'm hoping that if I just start chasing them now I can get through a bit quicker!

Polarbearflavour · 13/11/2018 22:07

I’ve been offered an MoD EO job woooohooo. Just wonder how long the checks will take. I have SC clearance already - left my old MoD job in March this year so should still be live...

Polarbearflavour · 21/11/2018 14:21

They don’t need to redo my SC as that’s still valid. They are doing a DBS check, occupational health clearance and checking my 3 year work history with HMRC. Apparently they don’t contact employers - they just make sure your time over the past 3 years is accounted for!

Chevonn · 22/11/2018 14:58

Still awaiting my security clearance link over 2 months now . Hope every1 else is having better luck than I am

Turexy · 22/11/2018 15:44

Anyone else waiting on start dates? CTC cleared for over two weeks. Why does everything take so long

Naturetree · 22/11/2018 15:53

@turexy I am waiting on my online questionnaire to clear, how long did yours take to pass after you submitted it? Also is there another step afterwards or once the check is complete you just wait for your start date?

Turexy · 22/11/2018 16:05

@Naturetree Ones SC is completed it’s just start dates next. With HO, it’s always changing. Am just tired of waiting now

Turexy · 27/11/2018 16:18

Still waiting on start date, 3 weeks since I was security cleared. Does anyone else have this issue, it’s so frustrating

tashajob · 27/11/2018 16:37

@turexy yeah same problem for me! I’ve waited just over 2 weeks since my clearance was completed now. Emailed someone at the home office & they said that they’re processing it and will contact me in due course. Was told at interviews that if I got the job I’d start in September!!

priyaismo · 30/11/2018 15:28

I applied for a job at RCJ during August. By September I had an interview, I passed that and then moved onto my pre employment checks which took around two months. I had my DBS come through the post randomly and my CTC was quicker than expected. I’ve finally recieved an email today saying all my checks are complete and they’re sorting out my formal contract! I’m over the moon right now. I did call the recruitment team during the process but they weren’t much help with limited information. My tip is to just hang in there as the process can take up to months!

tashajob · 04/12/2018 19:21

Does anyone have a number that they could give me to call the government recruitment service?

Turexy · 04/12/2018 19:39

@tashajob I don’t sorry. So frustrating still waiting on start date. 4 weeks since my CTC Clearance. Emailed back and forth still no news
