What I would like to ask is how exactly do you find so much spare time to chat on these boards about earning between £100k and £250k when you have five children of your own and also what seems must be a very demanding full time job?

I have just one child and a very part time job and this will be about the only 5 minutes I get to luxuriate on the internet?

4/11 2:04pm for bad nurseries quote

Now I have a baby to go and cuddle!

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 12:31

I want a link to the drunken grandmother quote. Xenia, you aren't my sister talking about our mother are you?

ParanoidAndroid · 17/11/2006 12:53

Interestingly a close friend who worked in child protection told me that most child abuse in Surrey came from well-educated, middle and upper class parents because when the parents got home from work, and/or their kids came back from school for the weekends, the parents lashed out at their kids when they misbehaved.

I'm not making any particular points except that it's not the stressed SAHMs who abuse their children the majority of the time here....

ParanoidAndroid · 17/11/2006 12:54

here being Surrey as opposed to my house !!

Fattymumma · 17/11/2006 12:56

very true .

it is normally those with very highly charged jobs and as they arent around the kids very often they have not learnt the coping strategies that many SAHP do.

it is not normal for it to result in abuse but we do have a high number of assesments of rather well to do families following an incident in teh home.

Anyway...WTF is going on here? habve i missed another troll outing or this something else?

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 13:02

That's because all rich people are fruit cakes.

Judy1234 · 17/11/2006 13:59

I don't think we have statistics to prove that one way or the other. I suspect whoever spends more time with children is likely to abuse them more or women who used to love the control and power of their jobs and just cannot adjust to the unpredictability of dealing with children.

"Xenia - one personal question for you.. are you one of these people that sleeps 3 or 4 hrs per night, or do you need your good 8 hours like me?"
I don't have small children any more so I can get sleep. I love sleep. One night this week I went to bed at 1.30am (not nice). I usually sleep for about 7 hours. The more the better. It's the best cure against ageing too and you do a lot better from going to bed an hour earlier than buying beauty creams. You also eat and spend less too. Also the earlier you go to bed the more sex you have too. People used to spend longer in bed 80 year ago without TV and nothing much else to do.

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 14:03

"Also the earlier you go to bed the more sex you have too."

My bed is for sleeping.

Tortington · 17/11/2006 14:06

sex in bed is boring

Tortington · 17/11/2006 14:06

xenia have to met domoniconner?

beckybrastraps · 17/11/2006 14:06

My favourite Xenia quote is when she referred to SAHMs as glorified prostitutes .

Made me laugh

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 14:08

Why in God's name would anyone want to meet DominiConnor?

Tortington · 17/11/2006 14:12

i would like to see an argument between them - i think xenia could actually be arsed to go and research the shit he comes out with to prove him wrong/ offer nother POV.

whereas most of us just tell him to fuck off

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 14:17

I think Xenia is probably wise enough to tell him to produce his own proof. She certainly is able to communicate her thoughts more clearly. You might not agree with them. But, the message is clear. (and she does not pretend to be an expert in areas she actually knows nothing about -- as far as I know)

Will NEVER NEVER NEVER stop being amused by the assinine idea of burying nuclear waste in disused oil wells.

Tortington · 17/11/2006 14:42

or - that motorway workmen might be there - with no lighting in the dark at 4am.

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 14:44

Eh?

Tortington · 17/11/2006 14:45

thats my DC gem

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 14:47

Ah, so DC said that. Figures.

Judy1234 · 17/11/2006 15:56

Kept wives as glorified prostitutes is hardly my own idea. Legions of women think that is so. Woman as economic appendage etc.... I suppose some are aroused by the misogyny of such an unbalanced relationship - she serves him in bed and keeps his house and bears his children and in return he pays financially.......

Not quite sure what this thread is about now, except one on which to bow down in adulation at my pearls of wisdom. My secret fan club.

Early to bed more sex... apparently going back 100 years there was. There was less to do after dark so people slept more which was good for them and had more sex. it sounds better for the evironment too - fewer lights on, you use up more calories and have fun too. Bed as a sex free zone is a novel idea.

dara · 17/11/2006 16:12

Oh wow, thanks so much Xenia for letting us all know that we have the fantastic privilege of being allowed to haul ourselves, stitches and all, away from our tiny vulnerable babies, back onto commuter trains and back into the workplaces. What great news! After all, the only reason anyone ever stays off longer is because - duh! - they didn't know they had this simply marvellous option. What a huge step forward for women's rights.
As for the 'prostitutes' line, oh give it a rest. Tbh, I could easily call anyone who is so keen to serve their employer a corporate whore, but that would be really gratuitously nasty, wouldn't it?

Uwilalalalalala · 17/11/2006 16:26

This is a fantastic thread. I can say virtually anything and all the backlash gets directed at Xenia. This has never happened before in my two years of mumsnet. Let's see:

I am American
I voted for Gearoge Bush -- twice (4 times if you count senior) and I don't regret it.
I think people who choose to take benefits rather than work are selfish gits
I went back to work two weeks post emergency caesarean with my first child
I work in the oil industry
I send my children to church school (and don;t even live in the LEA)
Oh, I employ foreign nannies because they are cheaper

There, isn't anyone going to have a go at me?

Uwila - you've always got on my tits, but up until now I have been too polite to say so.

Does that hit the spot?
