The Green Party and the word ‘female’

BackToLurk · Today 06:25

Omnicause veteran Eli Folan (who tweets as Stats for Lefties) has been elected to the Green Party’s governing council. Eli, as they tell us twice, is a ‘female’ rep. I don’t know whether this phrasing is the Green’s or is Eli’s special contribution.

A proud anti Zionist trans woman?
How long does this person think they would last in Palestine? Seriously.

This!

It's a bap, she wants special recognition for a bap. 🤪

Good fucking god.

In that case, those of us in Lancashire (who have a Reform Council) want recognition for the Lancahire Barm Cake.
Sauce for the goose I say !

It's a bap,

Have to disagree. A proper Glasgow roll is nothing like a bap and as a bacon roll, it is worthy of a Michelin star. However, UNESCO status is probably pushing it. 😋

A 'well fired' roll could possibly be classed as a weapon of mass destruction.

Eight percent?!

A lot of local members don't understand how important these elections are. It's very frustrating.

True, gives them less time to do stupid stuff.
There are plans to put a massive windfarm (Machair offshore) just North of Islay, visible from all the southern Inner Hebrides, including Iona, right in the path of migration for many marine species. You'd think someone ex-SGreen had something to say about this, or even someone still in the SGreens, or Jenni Minto the SNP MSP for A&B. Rien!

Oh, they were all for the data farms, too.

Text of Holly’s motion

  • That the Parliament understands that a campaign has launched to afford the Scottish morning roll protection and recognition as a UNESCO cultural status food; believes the status is well-deserved for a unique food group that is treasured across the country and enjoyed by many each day; understands the morning roll has been around for over 300 years, longer than Paris has had the baguette, believes that Glasgow Southside, often referred to as the "brunch capital of Scotland", has numerous institutions that offer this delicacy, such as Cafe Strange Brew, the Green Goose, Cafe Salmagundi and Fulton’s Cafe, and commends the work of the Scottish food historian, Peter Gilchrist, who is embarking on this cause.

Look, you twits. A morning roll is not a fucking 'food group'. A food group includes more than one thing, hence the word 'group'.

ArabellaScott · Today 13:02

I guess it identifies as a multiple. Did she ask the morning roll for its pronouns?

It's not bi-sexual, its Pan-breed.

ArabellaScott · Today 13:03

(for our southern readers, 'pan breed' is a dense white loaf, but also Glaswegian rhyming slang for 'deed' or 'dead', in English.)

lcakethereforeIam · Today 13:07

Is Glasgow Southside really referred to as 'the capital of Scotland'? And in a good way?

Not in my experience. She says 'brunch capital of Scotland'.

I lived there for three years, that was ... not something I'd have ever heard. To be fair there is/was a good cafe on Victoria Road.

'Inshallah'?

Is he a muslim? Why is he saying 'if Allah wills' if he is not a muslim?

Do muslims not find that offensive? Its that not cultural appropriation?

If he is muslim why isn't he covering his hair as a woman 😏

Interesting article here. There are also a lot of Labour members thinking “oh, we’ve seen this before”

On one side there’s your dyed-in-the-wool party members — among them Liz Spencer, mother of Hannah, who first joined the Green Party when it was still called the Ecology Party, though she tells me she expects to be expelled after what she’s told me for this article. She tells me just how the party has changed in the last few months: “It’s not what the Green party used to be; nice people who wore hemp shoes. That opened the door for lots of less than nice people to enter. And no one was primed for it.”

If a few years ago you'd have given me 1000 years to describe the Greens of the future, a Muslim speeding while filming himself would never have entered my thoughts.
Then again, I never thought the Greens would abandon science and women's rights for genderfeelz.

ArabellaScott · Today 13:17

I think some Muslims in the Green Party are doing quite a lot of teeth gritting.

It’s incredibly cringey.

Just another nail in their coffin!

I don't understand this intwinement between the left and Islam at all. The basic core principles just do not align.

I don't understand this intwinement between the left and Islam at all. The basic core principles just do not align.

Start with the premise that the whole of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, capitalism etc has its genesis in the colonialist imperialist violence of the British empire, America not far behind, the roots of empire in the Christian church, and the biggest victims of all that were/are black people, brown people etc.
And now these victims are to be lifted up by the left turning its back on our uniquely poisonous hateful history.
And thus Islam and all it's parallel faults, and more besides, gets a free run.
To disavow our British past is to champion it's victims, past, present and future, and the ideology of those victims.
And of course, even though most leftist activists and elites are strict atheists and in their quiet moments would disavow the claims of Mohammed as they do Jesus, they also believe in blank slate theory and believe once Muslims are fully educated in the way of IDentarian Left politics, they'll abandon Allah for Marx and Corbyn.

Cuckooing. Greenies that actually care for the environment may get a nasty surprise.

Hedgehogforshort · Today 13:49

I often wonder why loony tunes (AKA extremists) on the, erm “left”, join main stream politics it’s very odd.

I was a member of a loony tune group when i was young but it never occurred to me to join a main stream party, I would have considered that a dereliction of my Marxist duty.

I was not humourless, mind, i thought Pythons life of Brian was a great pop at zealots.
