The Green Party and the word ‘female’

Omnicause veteran Eli Folan (who tweets as Stats for Lefties) has been elected to the Green Party’s governing council. Eli, as they tell us twice, is a ‘female’ rep. I don’t know whether this phrasing is the Green’s or is Eli’s special contribution.

Honestly? I'd rather they stuck to that

He is not unfortunately satire. Used to run another account which has been deleted, that was even worse than this one. Stood for the Greens in the 2024 council elections in Lakenham. This is their current pinned tweet.

(white man saying Inshallah has strong Ali G vibes).

Edited

He is the reason people have a phobia of clowns.

I'm so sick of this shite. What the f**k has Palestine got to do with East Anglia??? Who is voting for this crap?

Students and other people who haven't done their homework.

Zionists are literally those who support formation and existence of the state of Israel. So this person basically calling for the destruction of Israel as a country (and I assume subsequent erasure of all the inhabitants?) How the fuck this even allowed, surely this is hate speech?

It certainly is hate speech but as Jews don't matter...

It's a bap, she wants special recognition for a bap. 🤪

I don't doubt that he made the claim.

Why do you think he might be lying? He will be easily called out if it's not true.

My best guess is that the local/regional entity that elected him has made an informal decision to send one male and one female rep, and are falsely claiming that they have done so. If it were an informal decision rather than a formally reserved post for women, it may well be that it isn't illegal for them to represent their decision as one that elected a 'female'.

I imagine Eleanora Folan also wants recognition for his baps.

It's a bap,

Have to disagree. A proper Glasgow roll is nothing like a bap and as a bacon roll, it is worthy of a Michelin star. However, UNESCO status is probably pushing it. 😋

I always found it somehow astonishing about the level of rabid antisemitism among those further to the left like Corbyn, Green Party etc. I think it used to be the main reason I found them particularly unsavory. Nowadays, this plus (generally unspoken but obvious) support for Hamas and Russia, as well as their stance on Trans issues are making me feel like the far left and far right are two cheeks of the same arse....

Sorry, but the Iranian flag...that little emblem in the middle looks like a bat in a polo neck and a false moustache.

Something Like this?

I don't know how it's allowed. Horrible stuff.

Our local Green councillor mostly concerned herself to raise money for a statue to a beloved cat about town which died peacefully in his home with his humans. Mind you, she's defected to the SNP last year.

What a fucking depressing poster that is, on every level.

Indeed, freedom of speech unless you are GC or a Zionist - so no-one can protest that women are represented by a man. Such hatred, too. A few years ago such a statement would be enough for such a man to be thrown off any executive body.

Heyhelga · Today 12:05

What an absolute moron. Zero mention of policies for the local area, the environment, etc, just pure undiluted diversive and inflammatory waffle. The Green Party was a nice idea but it seems to have been totally hyjacked at this point.

cariadlet · Today 12:09

I'm in the Green Party.

Sadly, this isn't a parody. He beat a sensible woman in the election. There's also a man running for election for the female GPC rep in the South East but I don't think those results have been announced yet.

I know that some members have raised the question internally of whether it's legal for men to be elected as the female rep.

Like the Unesco bap campaign, campaigning for a statue of a cat would at least keep them busy, the devil finds work for evil hands to do as the old saying says😏
In general, I don't mind politicians, local or national, getting involved in light-hearted local things like that, yes of course there's the national health service in crisis and cyber attacks and pot-holes, but there's also little local things that aren't earth-shattering, but that matterSmile

Grammarnut · Today 12:15

Supporting Iran, a terrorist state that shut down its internet so killing 30k people could hardly be recorded or reported, is supporting terrorism.
Sasha Baron-Cohen is Jewish. Interesting on several levels he says inshallah as Ali G.

There's a statue of Whittington's cat outside the hospital of the same name. I suppose someone paid for that - mind, it's a famous cat.

maltravers · Today 12:16

Free speech eh? How does that fit in with Hypnotits’ reported demands for Burnham to sort out the press in the last couple of days? Is that “free speech on things we agree with” but a label of “far right hate speech” for anything we disagree with, by any chance?

Do you have the percentages on the voting, how unhinged is this particular chapter of Hells Minions.

True, gives them less time to do stupid stuff.
There are plans to put a massive windfarm (Machair offshore) just North of Islay, visible from all the southern Inner Hebrides, including Iona, right in the path of migration for many marine species. You'd think someone ex-SGreen had something to say about this, or even someone still in the SGreens, or Jenni Minto the SNP MSP for A&B. Rien!

I think the Greens are becoming as popular locally as the Reform councils. Completely inept and couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.

About 1,600 people voted which was a turnout of just over 8%.
The result was close. He beat the woman by 10 votes in the first round of voting and 6 votes in the 2nd round.
