Omnicause veteran Eli Folan (who tweets as Stats for Lefties) has been elected to the Green Party’s governing council. Eli, as they tell us twice, is a ‘female’ rep. I don’t know whether this phrasing is the Green’s or is Eli’s special contribution.

Apart from the opening sentence the footer on the leaflet reads

This is in fact illegal. If political parties choose to have women only role they are for women only. It was the whole reason the SNP lost in court.

Both the Lib Dems, & Labour have made clear in their rule book that women only roles are for women only.

In fact the Greens themselves have been wary of breaking the law they tried to make it clear when they had the last set of leadership elections in 2026 which have provisions for either a male and female leadership or a male and female deputy leadership that they had to respect reality in this matter.

For everyone shocked at this the Greens are not the "nice" party they claim to be. There is a whole bunch of racists in the party to go along with the massive sexism problem. Mumsnet has been watching and we have the receipts.

Yes, that was partly my question too. How much is him, how much the Green’s.

A man is saying he’s a woman, so it’s pretty easy to not believe anything else he says.

It’s also possible that he’s worried he’s on his way out anyway due to all the other batshit stuff and is trying to provoke a response. I can’t see anything that suggests that regional reps have to be a particular sex - although most regions send one woman and one man. Eastern Region (it’s not East Anglia, the fella doesn’t even know who he’s representing) now appears to have two men.

There’s nothing whatever wrong with the word ‘female’. There’s something wrong (and illegal) when a male is elected to a post specifically meant for a female.
