Tempest (a TW) is claiming discrimination, harassment and/or victimisation on grounds of gender reassignment. Central to the claim is the existence of the Sex Equality and Equity Network in the Civil Service (SEEN). SEEN has been granted right to intervene. Parts of the original claim against the co-chair of SEEN (Elspeth Duemmer-Wrigley) and another party (Andreas Mueller) were struck out or narrowed. Another claimant, PQ, is no longer part of the case.

I will also note that Elspeth still has a garden in need of seeds and water to support the ability of SEEN to be an intervenor in this case. The claim originated because she said "only women menstruate" and a search with her name and those terms at the usual gardening website should point you to her plot.

From TT:

J: Miss Cunningham?
NC: A little housekeeping - can I check all parties have a copy of 'My Body Is Me'?
J: Not sure - email?
NC: Yes, from solicitor to clerk & some other addresses - 9.58am.

J: It seems that only the panel don't have it - clerks can start looking - do you need it immediately?
NC: No will come to it later - poss not till tomorrow

J: We really are working under a lot of pressure on staff - not an excuse, but just to note.

My note: we may get our wish!

StellaAndCrow · 30/06/2026 14:17

Oooh, starting with My Body is Me!

Shock re ED trying to coach Tinkerbell in real time!

StellaAndCrow · 30/06/2026 14:18

NC: Am informed that witness Emma Dunn has been visible attempting to communicate with the claimant - nodding and mouthing - wd ask that ED be asked to change seats so this is made harder.

It's a shocker. When image passes moderation pls avert your eyes or you will need 6months sick leave.

J: I am not accusing at all, but this really must not happen. HH: We do give advice & warnings to witnesses re this - ED is a v expressive person - she will try to control this.

J: Please do; we will otherwise have to do something about this. HH: Must note that this is not first attempt to mischaracterise ED. NC: I dispute this; this is something I have been told about, clearly I cannot see as ED is behind me.

HH: Do not believe there has been any such attempt.

J: I have noticed that ED does have lots of facial expression - that might be being misunderstood -

NC: Finally - pronouns - I understood I could either use ST preferred pronouns or avoid, the written order says use "they/them" - need to know if can do my preference and simply avoid pronouns J: Yes that is entirely acceptable.

Shortshriftandlethal · 30/06/2026 14:20

Can I just ask who Emma is, please? What is her role and relation to the claimant?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/06/2026 14:20

Am I right that in Scotland she wouldn’t have been able to follow proceedings until after she gave her evidence? I vaguely remember from other cases.

CompleteGinasaur · 30/06/2026 14:20

It isn't coaching though - it's her "naturally expressive face". FFS.

fanOfBen · 30/06/2026 14:20

@StellaAndCrow do you have a wish to c and p this afternoon? You're welcome but there's no point in us both doing it.

Pull the other one

Honestly. ST and ED are just like children in the playground

Hi, no, happy for you to carry on! :) Thank you!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/06/2026 14:23

Surely they could just ask her to move to avoid any unfortunate misunderstandings. Or are courts like weddings? Rs to one side, Cs to the other?

I bought it for my son (6). It's not his favourite book, but he likes it and says it helps him understand why he should look after his body and that everyone is different and that's ok. He really likes the pictures of all the children in dressing up costumes.
