Sexism/other issues in the Green party England & Wales - Discussion Thread 3

Zack Polanski is making things bigger yet again so another thread needed.

Well things have developed rather a lot since the start. ZP started out as being another sexist guy in politics - no shortage those around, but he thought he could take it to a new level and he proved he could do it.

The Green threads have followed his rise from the start of with the Hypnoboobs scandal and much more. There is also:

Mothin Ali as deputy Leader who clearly doesn't believe in trans thinking, but cleverly sidesteps round talking about it, has always had a issues with encouraging racist violence and is now encouraging people to sue the Green party if they attempt to stop them saying racist stuff.

The other deputy Rachel Millward represents the posh rich faction of the Greens who manages to sounding like Reform when opposing Asylum Seekers in her area, but at the same time saying we are too harsh on immigrants in general. Obviously she also doesn't believe women are a thing. Yet she is the least crazy when violence is concerned compared to ZP, and Mothin.

Hypnoboobs scandal got worse recently when it became clear from BBC footage ZP actively believed in the Hypnoboobs thesis rather than being tricked into it.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn9enygvezeo

Alongside all this there is constant ongoing attacks on biological reality from the party in interviews and in policy.

Now in the last week or so after a longstanding spate of antisemetic rhetoric from some Greens during the election campaign and ZP downplaying it. We have synagogues, schools, ambulances attacked, two Jewish people dead and ZP berating unarmed police for risking their lives in fighting a violent killer who was still armed with a knife things have come to a crisis point.

The Greens are becoming ever more sinister with dozens of candidates sounding like they are seventies NF supporters with comments about uppity women and Jewish power. The huge drama over a crazy motion which they were trying to pass against Israel at conference alongside a motion to prevent women having sports will surface again their September conference.

It seems likely after next week The Greens are going to be running a bunch of councils which doesn't bode well after their antics in Bristol.

Yet there is hope, in Bristol women are fighting back_: www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5455053-bristol-council-is-about-to-be-sued_

The fight back from Green Women's Declaration, ( https://www.greenwomensdeclaration.uk/ ) continues and the court cases against GPEW from Emma Bateman and Shahrar Ali are developing, both getting through legal delaying tactics as they move to trial. Gardening is needed. These cases if successful could be dramatic in their impact.

First thread - where you can follow the rise of ZP and lots of other scandal

Second Thread:
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5456759-sexismother-issues-in-the-green-party-england-wales-discussion-thread-2?

Note the Scottish Greens which are a separate party to the Green Party England/Wales have their own thread for all their sexist drama. They split off because GPEW didn't hate biology and women/gays enough at the time.

Wtf is Skywriter. Is it like a Bluesky for people who find it intolerably right wing? Monbiot still on the #bekind Polanski train

https://skywriter.blue/@georgemonbiot.bsky.social/3ml64fptye22q

Some of the charges are so petty and tenuous that if they were levelled at anyone else, the shame would land on the reporters, not their targets. But with leftwing politicians, anything goes.

Meanwhile he's frothing about a cartoon of zp as slimer from Ghostbusters as anti Semitic

SionnachRuadh · 06/05/2026 12:07

They're really going big on newspaper cartoonists at the moment, I assume to distract from what their own candidates have been saying online.

I mean on the one hand, the British tradition of caricature is based on exaggerating features (Denis Healey's eyebrows, John Major's upper lip, Gordon Brown's resting scowling face) and Zack does not exactly look identikit. He's a gift to the cartoonist who's been struggling to think of interesting ways of drawing Steve Reed or Alex Burghart.

On the other hand I don't think it's completely unreasonable to be uncomfortable when it's minority politicians - cartoonists routinely tone down Kemi Badenoch's African features and I assume that's why.

In terms of Jewish politicians, I'll just note that the Owen Joneses of this world complained loudly when Ed Miliband was being caricatured, but not when it was Michael Howard.

The silliest version of this was Zarah Sultana complaining about being drawn as a brown woman (should they have drawn her as a white woman?)

Frothing at the mouth indeed, didn't the leftie press make a big, big deal over something Farage said when he was a kid at school. 😂

"... they're protected by the oligarchs they serve," 😂 because the left are all independent thinkers and not at all funded by hedge fund manager George Soros and his spawn though Open Society. 🤯

Gotta say, you may not agree with Zia Yusuf on much, but he's about the most entertaining person in UK politics right now

😂😂 Very funny.

The Greens and Labour need to watch out because being funny is definitely something people like. In general their candidates seem to be extremely unfunny. Can anyone name a funny Green or Labour politician?

I do get to vote tomorrow, it's probably going to be Conservative based on two things, firstly Lib Dems have a policy which basically says they're happy to lock women in with male murderers and paedophiles so they're out. It's abhorrent (it's like intentionally locking a fox in a cage with hens and then saying 'risk assessment blah blah, but he identifies as a hen' when the fox eats the hens which is obviously going to happen.... I just don't see the difference).

Secondly only Conservatives and Reform have mentioned actual policies in any documentation and only the Conservative has any clue, seemingly, what is actually going on in the local area and what the main issues are. He's obviously been listening.

I also like Kemi B, so it's an easy choice in the end. If I really thought Reform might get some Lib Dems out then I might vote for them.

The Lib Dems have also been shit at a local level, prioritising luxury plans that benefit a small minority who live in just one area (unsurprisingly where one of their main council leaders lives) over the basics like road maintenance for years. It's all very dodgy looking from the outside, no accountability though, seemingly.

Very impressive showing from Kemi B standing up for Jewish people in the UK below:

On the radio now. Says he was traumatized by the sight of the golders green attacker in handcuffs being restrained.

Though he has said the Jewish community is not safe now. Not merely a perception

Then he traumatised himself for nothing

Has anyone done anything with that green screen Zack's been pictured in?

Summary of the general ick factor

Particularly that he only really left the Lib Dems who were shoulder to shoulder with the Tories on austerity because of them not giving him a parliamentary candidacy rather than the austerity he cited.

Though many will have already voted Green by post, Luke Tryl from pollsters More In Common says the past few days have been deeply damaging for Polanski’s personal popularity. On May 5, he wrote: “Zack Polanski’s net approval rating has fallen by a fairly chunky 14 points over the last week. Still far ahead of Starmer but also puts him now well below the top three of Badenoch, Davey and Farage.”

If James "I have never held an unconventional opinion in my life" Ball is writing a hit piece, that probably means the chattering class is going off Zack.

"...ending discrimination against Deliveroo drivers..."
...what, you mean citizens who can't be arsed to go out and get their Bargain Buckets and Pizza stacks, and request home delivery up and down the country, are abusing these drivers on grabbing the food off them?
Or does he mean any discussion of Deliveroo and other such companies being complicit in grey market labour scams is anti-migrant?

ZP predicting a record breaking result for the greens. They currently have about 500 seas in this lot up for election and sky pundit forecasts it will be very good if they up that by another 500.

Igneococcus · 08/05/2026 06:57

At the moment it looks like the LibDems have bigger gains than the Greens but that might be down to which councils have finished counting at this point.

Lalgarh · 08/05/2026 08:23

So far the seats in Wigan, Halton etc are a straight swap from labour to Reform.

In terms of polling breakdowns the greens are taking small increases in vote share but it's dwarfed by Reform increases

RESULT: Central and West Bank (Halton) council ward:

RFM: 51.6% (+51.6)
LAB: 28.7% (-56.9)
GRN: 16.2% (+16.2)
CON: 3.5% (-10.8)

Reform UK GAIN from Labour

-

RESULT: Mersey and Weston (Halton) council ward:

RFM: 37.6% (+37.6)
LAB: 27.2% (-30.0)
GRN: 15.7% (+15.7)
IND: 8.6% (+1.8)
LDM: 7.4% (-17.0)
CON: 3.5% (-8.1)

Reform UK GAIN from Labour

But the London boroughs are yet to start so the green tsunami of Zack is still pending

That seems to be sending a really stark message that Labour have lost the working class vote.

Lalgarh · 08/05/2026 09:17

Sian Berry was on R4 earlier saying they've had really great results in taking seats in Oxford and Reading as well as 1 in Salford.

All university towns

SionnachRuadh · 08/05/2026 09:18

The Red Wall is looking pretty much like the Turquoise Wall now.

Let's see how London pans out. In Wandsworth it looks like the Green vote was up, but not enough to win seats, just enough to kneecap Labour and put the Tories back in.
