Of observation.
Of DC in their late teens.

We had to explain that although it tasted like fruit juice, they might want to stop now...

The last time I got hammered, it was a long evening that went sherry=> white wine => red wine => dessert wine => port.

Ceilings that rotate as you lie in bed are always fun.

Had the swirling ceiling on the night of my 21st. I was studying at the Centre d'Etudes Russes de Meudon, and the girls from Bristol Uni asked Père Marischal if we could have a party.

I believe that it was a really good party, but I didn't see much of it.

The girls appeared with Father Igor and presented me with a cake and a glass of champagne before the party.

Then there was a vodka and the party...Then I tried the punch.

The next thing, one of the Bristol girls had to help me across the courtyard and get me up a spiral staircase to my room, whilst sneaking me past Sister Nathalie's room. I recall that we passed Uncle Kolya, (a former lecturer from Leningrad Uni) and he found it very amusing.

I'm sorry your birthday was blighted Not. That reads weird. Roll on May!

MyrtleLion · 27/04/2026 23:06

Thank you for all your lovely comments about the blanket. I was very stuck until someone lovely showed me how to join them together with double crochet and then create a border with two rows of treble crochet.

It will be sent to KnottyandPistey at Woolly Hugs who will donate it to a teenager with cancer. See here: https://www.woollyhugs.org/2017/02/05/our-little-hug-project/

I just have to find a bag big enough. I have joined four Little Hugs for premature babies, in honour of DSD who weighed 772g at birth at 25 weeks' gestation. I'll post pictures of those tomorrow.

I'm also knitting a new baby blanket for Little Hugs in five shades of gold and I'm participating in a year long Knit Along to make a single bed blanket in three shades of blue.

Congratulations on your blanket, @MyrtleLion . You have such a good eye for combining those squares.

Little Hugs are such a lovely idea. It's so good to think of them being used in a cancer ward. I'm sure the staff make the wards as homely as they can but there must be a lot of uniformity in the sheets and so on, and the Little Hugs add cheerful variety.

Is that something to do with the dish-that-dare-not-speak-its-name-but-begins-with-a- 'v'- which-we-were-counselled-to-avoid-googling-but-some-of-us-just -won't-be-told-will-we?😝

Or is it a cue for Angle to say
'Oh yeah? You reckon? wanna take it outside?
and for one of us to say
'Leave it Ang, she's not werf it'

Mooo-ving right along..😏

Oh my lovely friend came over and helped. I couldn't have done it without her! 💙

Here's something really disturbing-

Here's a photo Boily posted on another thread displaying some of her interesting footwear.
And here's a photo of my lower extremities this morning.
The similarities are scary, aren't they?? - I'm beginning to think that I don't really exist, I'm just a figment of Boily's imagination😱

...aand... we're heading back towards feet porn..
I'm sensing a theme here...

(it's got to be the magic gerbils, it's got to be. Something... something they're doing. I shall investigate and report back)

Ps. I have a confession to make. I put the camel up in a nice corner of my garage last night, you know, with hay and some water and company in the form if the "mousie" who lives near the hole next to the drainpipe outside.

Wellll... Camel has gone walkabout.

But, I'm on it! She can't have gone far, it's just such a new environment for her that I think she was curious, and went for an explore. (Mousie is very good at picking locks, so I'm blaming her).

Again, I shall report back.

Great minds and all that.....

That's an interesting look Beetle

I did once go to work wearing two identically styled shoes but in different colours (black and navy) that I had picked off the shoe rack before I put my glasses on.

If anyone noticed, no-one told me 👀

Perhaps you should put a notice on your local FB page Angle

Do you have a description?

You are all a figment of my imagination.

Except the gerbils.

The gerbils are real.

I will admit your fashion choices are excellent though!

Thank you for clarifying that ontological question😁

Are your blue check trousers like mine: fleecy, with pockets?
Comfy, aren't they? Bit warm for the time of year, though, they'll be phased out shortly for similar, still with pockets, but not fleecy.

My slippers are fluffy - but they are black. I think that's a very good illustration of the phrase 'soft butch'😄

Fear ye not, @lcakethereforeIam this is only indoor attire.
I’m much more polished outside of my own front room!

RandomHypatia · 28/04/2026 10:52

I think we have that dehumidifier too.
