We're heading back towards bunion territory again, I can feel it!

Sorry!

Look on the bright side. At least he didn't blunder round the bedroom, mistake the wardrobe door for the toilet door and piss all over your shoes. I am not saying that this has happened in my bedroom. Definitely not.

I'll leave you to your bedroom, and run off and count my blessings...

I almost never have cocktails, though I will admit to - once or twice - whimsically ordering a pina colada after getting caught in the rain.

One of these days I will actually try a Green Swizzle, as recommended by Bertie Wooster: Green Swizzle

Green Swizzle

Today is P.G. Wodehouse's birthday. He was the brilliant author who brought us the hilarious stories of a hapless Bertie Wooster and his inimitable valet, Jeeves. Wodehouse wrote about them for sixty years and in turn made the name Jeeves synonymous w...

I can confirm that whatever colours the Bluey Gargleblaster, it isn't Swarfega.

Glenda mixes a good one. A bit on the strong side, though.

I did once have a cocktail that unexpectedly arrived on a bed of dry ice.

During Covid, some friends of ours got into the habit of 'cocktail hour' to give some shape to their days. They enjoyed it a lot, but had to wean themselves off it afterwards. I'm not sure what they've done with all the kirsch, bitters and triple sec.

When I get very old and no longer give a shit about my waistline and overall health, I think I'll work my way through a book of the World's 1000 Best Cocktails.

Pasta - that's great news about Mr Pasta SeniorSmile
Myrtle -- what a beautiful blanket! the flow of the colours is amazing, really lovely in idea and execution👏

Who was it who was concerned that the young woman on my doorstep might not have been who she said she was? Sorry I can't remember - thank you, she had all the ID, and was just one of a succession of poor unfortunates, all of them foreigners, who are sent from unwelcoming doorstep to unwelcoming doorstep to try to get people to switch suppliers. I wonder if anyone ever does.

Ironically, she was from the supplier I'm already with!

Sorry you're having a Grrrrr day, Edith, I hope it gets smoothed outFlowers

I only ever had a cocktail once. Then I had another, so is that still once?🙃
It might have been a Mojito, I can't remember. It was very nice.

You should try one, Fuzzy, perhaps not the Bluey Gargleblaster, though, I'm convinced the colouring ingredient is Swarfega!

Edited

That's such a purdy drink 😀

What I thought I would like is a Gimlet. I like lime juice, I like gin. Seemed like a winner. Took a large swig...

..I danced around like an enraged bull, stamping my feet and making guttural roars. Never again.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/04/2026 21:36

Beautiful blanket @MyrtleLion I am all admiration. A patchwork of little masterpieces (what's the female equivalent of that?) works of artistry, artistically combined into a singular piece of excellence.

Am I too late for a cocktail? I'll have an Old Fashioned in I'm not. I'll drink to Pasta Senior's health.

EdithStourton · 27/04/2026 21:37

@Waitwhat23 If you want a cocktail that you can neck, try a Singapore Sling.
You will be under the table in short order, but they go down very easily.

Just caught up again. Worked all day and then fell asleep in the garden. Which i could keep up.

lcakethereforeIam · 27/04/2026 21:38

Long Island Iced Tea has a similar effect.

Apologies for my absence. I've tried to skim the multiple pages since I was last here, but I may have missed some posts.. Sadly my absence wasn't due to extended 80th birthday celebrations, but unexpectedly marked side-effects for DH and me to our Covid boosters last Wednesday. By the time my birthday arrived on Friday we were both feeling quite rough, with little appetite, so it passed quietly, with only one small treat - smoked salmon for lunch. Best-laid plans and all that... 😉Still, feeling better now at last and the muted birthday will be compensated for at the end of May, when our DS and DD have planned a special weekend for me, of which more later. 😇

I was making them at a family event and was blamed for the resulting 'falling backwards off chairs' situation which ensued.

Voice of experience , no doubt?

Of observation.
Of DC in their late teens.

We had to explain that although it tasted like fruit juice, they might want to stop now...

The last time I got hammered, it was a long evening that went sherry=> white wine => red wine => dessert wine => port.

Ceilings that rotate as you lie in bed are always fun.

I shall not be sleeping in the Quilting Nook tonight, but going home early, having had my cocktail, and getting into my own bed at a reasonable hour. Goodnight, all!

um... yikes, it's dark out there.. I'll just borrow a support camel and return her tomorrow, promise!

I'm very very sorry I missed that spectacle you made of yourself, it sounds unforgettable!
Maybe you could reproduce it sometime here at the Bluey by way of entertainment. Maybe it could be an ensemble piece, and we could all do the stamping and guttural roars..😁

Sorry about your birthday, Not, but I hope the weekend in May - 'Not the Not's Birthday' - makes up for itFlowers

G'night Angle - it's midnight at the oasis/send your camel to bed 🐫Smile
