Your most recent post in the other thread is very diplomatic, @AngleofRepose .

😕Thanks. Well, one tries. I suspect I must try harder. I do not suffer fools gladly, but I do sometimes speak before I think.

Was she being an Arsehole?

No, she was cooperative, if a bit distant.
I have worked with a lot of slebs, and she's in the "ok" pile.

My sister used to do this when she was a teenager. Stairs and all, always looking for something, often behind bookcases or in the fridge. Possibly to do with hormones? Or stress?
It didn't last for years, maybe a whole year, off and on.

My daughter used to do it occasionally when she was little too. We used to follow her around as she searched for something then she would just end up going back to bed.

I'm not aware of ever having sleepwalked (sleptwalked?) but apparently I can hold a totally lucid conversation while asleep. With an actual person, I'm not just talking to an inner voice. This becomes an issue when I'm "reminded" of a conversation I took part in but slept through, and therefore don't remember it at all.

I once finished making a spice rack whilst asleep! I can also cook a full English, and have made cakes! But I'm a sleepwalking genius!

@AngleofRepose ❤️ you in no way, shape or form ruined the thread. I hope I didn't give you that impression. I don't really think of them as mine once I've released them into the wild.

Quick bar-gerbils, a double brandy or something similar that I don't drink outside the Bluey!

A young woman called to my door, trying to get me to switch electricity company, and had a bit of a dizzy turn, so I had to bring her in [she had her ID and everything, it felt completely safe] and give her glasses of water and something sugary - she said she isn't diabetic but I advised her to have that checked out.

So far so Good Deed for the Day, but as she recovered, she started talking ...and talking....and talking. About life, people, work, competitive colleagues, non-competitive colleagues, the threat of AI on jobs, the kind of jobs that are safe from AI, her determination to succeed in life, her assessment of people who are not helpful to her determination to succeed in life..

Just as I thought she'd be on her way, she'd think of some other aspect of Life The Universe and Everything to share😱

It was interesting, but only for about 15 mins or so. In the end I had to do the standing up and saying briskly 'Well, I won't keep you any longer...' thing, and she's gone.

Where's that brandy?😩

MarieDeGournay · 27/04/2026 19:03

Good grief, it's 7 o'clock! she WAS here for over an hour, I wasn't imagining it!

@Boiledbeetle chip spice must have arrived in Hull in the last 55 years since I last lived there.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/04/2026 19:18

I had a Pilates class this morning - the easy way, by zoom. I’ve got a lovely instructor who I went to for some years before covid, and then she started doing zooms during lockdown and has continued with one on a Monday morning but the rest are now in her studio.

The only problem is, because entirely reasonably she wants a bit of stability to her income through the year the zooms are a rolling monthly subscription with the pricing taking into account when she’s off for holidays inc bank holidays. The trouble is bank holidays and school holidays are exactly when DH and I stay at home, whereas we’re away rather a lot in termtime with me newly retired and making up for last years medically enforced staycations. With the result I’ve only been able to attend one class in April and May with its 2 bank holiday Mondays is going to be a wipeout. Very first world problem - I really don’t want to give it up but it’s not really working.

Yep, that's all the essential food groups ticked offGrin

Poutine. Cheese, chips and gravy.
( I have to bulk buy the cheese curds by mail order and freeze them though.)

Dad is well enough that I can risk a few days at home! Hurray! I get to see my garden and hens kids after 8 days.

Gerbils, celebration cocktails for everyone!

I suspect, for the spice rack at least, I wasn't actually asleep. I have a dissociative disorder that ramps up in periods of great stress. The spice rack was made in the middle of what was basically a nervous breakdown. So, I probably went to sleep, had a nightmare, woke up in a dissociative state, couldn't sleep, went and finished the spice rack. Went back to bed then woke up in the morning unaware of any of it.

I also have sleep paralysis. That's "fun". 😶

God, yes. I've had sleep paralysis once or twice and it was singularly terrifying.

I've never tried a Zoom class, but my in-person classes were definitely paid in a block, up front, so I had to be very motivated and very sure I would be around to do all the classes. I like my DVD, although of course it never progresses. I'm fine with that right now because I'm progressing very slowly , but you might find it boring? It just means that you can do them when you're around and you only pay once!
