DD13 had her bra fitting today at M&S.
It wasn't a great start - we got there 5 minutes early, as requested in the booking email, and the customer service assistant was borderline rude, telling us that the fitter was on her break and she didn't know when she'd be back. She sent us to wait at the fitting room in the ladies' department - which was out of order.
I said to DD that it may be if the women's floor changing room was out of order, that they try and fit her in the men's floor changing room (upstairs), and there may be men around but nobody would be able to come into her cubicle - how did she feel about that? It was a hard no from her, she didn't want men anywhere near her.
As it turned out, there was a lingerie fitting room at the back of the store (though the signage had recently been removed / altered - so goodness knows what it will be re-labelled to). Two of the cubicles had locking doors, two just had curtains. We were taken into the accessible (disability) changing room which only had a curtain, as it was larger and I had to go in with her because she was underage.
It was all absolutely fine. The fitter was nice. Nobody else was in the changing area. We got her a bra (28A - so not nothing, which is what I was worrying about from her ego's perspective!).
I will keep an eye on the refurb they've got going on - as it looks like they've deliberately removed the lettering about the lingerie fitting room for some reason.
It's still shitty that there's nowhere I could guarantee to DD that she wouldn't bump into a boy from school trying on jeans, or a male teacher from school in the next cubicle whilst she felt vulnerable.
In other news I had a lovely dream last night where I was best friends with JKR, so that's something. 😂
