Daughter in early 20s lonely due to GC views

My daughter is in her early twenties. She is GC and is struggling because so few of her peers have similar opinions. She is very lonely because of this. Are there any online groups she could join to give her a sense of community? She is also ND. Thank you in advance for your advice…

I am wondering how some people believe that consent around male people accessing publicly accessible female single sex provisions is decided on a partial consensus basis.

That is actually counter intuitive to the concept of consent.

A group of women cannot vote to allow one male person to use a publicly accessible female single sex provision and override other’s non-consent. Of course that doesn’t work. What the fuck happens if a non-consenting female person enters that provision then?

Consent around the issue of safeguarding is not transferable for a reason. There is also a reason it cannot be considered given if there is a coercive situation where it was not given completely freely. Such as if a group influence a woman to consent when she doesn’t want to because they all consented.

FFS.

I dont think that will be the case. I think the law will eventually state, clearly, one way or the other, that trans people either are or are not their chosen sex and people who have a problem with that decision will be left to deal with their feelings.

Have you read the Supreme Court judgement, at all? Because it already did this. At length.

It has been stated.

And the people who don't like it are going to rallies and holding up signs which say 'decapitate terfs', 'the only good terf is a dead terf' and the like as well as (evidenced on this thread) making threats of sexual assault against women.

No but it could. It depends on the opinions of the people who ultimately get a real say.

It depended on the Supreme Court. Who have had their say.

Then you won’t want a white womens equipment then will you? If you’re uncomfortable with her presence, why would you want to use her equipment?

We could have used the equipment, yes. And if she genuinely cared about the issue more than being centred as someone who seeks to care about the issue, she would have given it. But she was exposed as performative through her actions. Live White Feminism.

But the law doesn’t say that.

Have they? Seems pretty murky to me. That's why I said that people have to hope things stay at least roughly the same.

Or just be women who arent even trans but quietly use formal channels that create real change to overturn the ruling.

What was murky about a judgment that said sex in the EA meant biological sex?

Some women might disagree that trans women are male in any meaningful sense. So even if males are excluded, it won't include trans women.

What makes them women?

Well it would be the same as someone who objected to another woman's presence based on some other characteristic. The person with the issue would be expected to quietly find a way around it. Go in the cubicles, not attend etc.

They can disagree all they like, the law says different.

The number one criteria to be a transwoman is to be male.

Makes who women? The women who support trans women? They are female with vaginas and breasts and XX chromosomes. They just arent GC.

So an abused or ethnic minority woman who can not share spaces with men, should just not use her own spaces? Nice.

There is no pretzeling about it. You cant deny that a large amount of women are fully supportive of trans inclusion in single sex spaces as per the trans person's wishes. Those women are women and their opinions are as valid as any other woman on this matter.

Why are you asking me that?
What has that got to do with the fact that other women, maybe most women, maybe just a big lot of some women, think TWAW?

Last time.

You know how GC people often feel they are formally silenced from stating their views/protesting etc?

Imagine there was going to be a GC awareness event organised by a GC charity, but due to a range of reasons, it wasnt going to be well funded or supported.

Now, there are men in this GC charity, both in official capacities and those who attend meets as members. It was never restricted to women or anything like that. But for this specific event, in the wake of a trans woman murdering a woman and her child, you think it is really important that only women organise and host this event.

Now one of the men in the charity could provide a space for you to host this. He is a regular and long term member and helps out often. He offers this space and you readily accept. A little later, he finds out that there are meetings and conversations that he isnt part of and isn't getting a say in. You reiterate that you think it's really important that this is women led and he argues with that but reluctantly accepts that he is outvoted.

He then withdraws the offer of the space

Edited

Repeating yourself with poor analogies doesn’t really help.

I notice you’ve skipped the questions I asked - is the woman you are talking about a racist? Why did you claim that the BAME women are not safe with her around?

Being ‘woman led’ is very different to ‘excluding everyone from even the practical discussions about the use of my valuable sound equipment with not so much as a thank you or a credit’.

Many people lending equipment, especially equipment that will likely need their input of setting up and taking down would want to be involved in discussions from a practical point of view.

Positioning of expensive equipment within the space to ensure it is kept safe, used properly and not damaged is important yet you’re criticising this woman for wanting involvement in the practicalities and then randomly accusing all white people of being racist. Maybe she’s got concerns at lending her things to people with such contempt for her based on the colour of her skin?

Also, that applies to Transwomen too. If they have an issue using men’s spaces, find a way round it without using spaces they are not entitled to. It is it only women who should give everything up?

And again - the majority are not. The law and the views of the majority of people align on this issue.
