Opening soon in a salubrious location.

And thanks to the miraculous qualities, although we will indeed have

One-steps and two-steps and the divil knows what new steps
We know that we never would be dull again, bedad
We'll have wine, porter and lemonade.
We'll have cocktails and cocoa and all
We'll have champagnes tonight
But NO real pains next morning
Tonight when we dance at the Bluestocking Ball

slight apologies to Frank Harte

Thanks Dean! Cocoa cocktail for me please.

MyrtleLion · 22/02/2026 17:17

Brilliant little ditty! And I'm first! For the first time! And I was very nearly first

Bucket of G&T, please.

I'll be back once the previous thread is full xx

EdithStourton · 22/02/2026 17:18

Thank you, Deano.

I'll leave an order for another Twallock-Buster on the bar (SO much better than the Sparp of blessed memory) and be back for it once the other thread is full.

V hard to persuade Bing not to have men at the dance.

I never realised we had an actual ballroom. Nice chandeliers.

Decided to cosplay as a human in honour of the dance. Fun this, innit?

I apologise to Harry O'Donovan, the real author, as I know perfectly well

here's Maureen Potter singing it

she'd fit right in at the Bluestocking though she'd accept no messing from the gerbils

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/02/2026 17:29

Did someone say cocoa cocktails?

DeanElderberry · 22/02/2026 17:40

I don't think Bing was trying very hard at gerbils this time.

I will have to assume that the dinner-jacketed beings in the background are women, but at least it included Rosy.

sort of

Well, Colette & Missy used to dress like that, didn't they?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 22/02/2026 18:05

Ugh! I googled it & can't find the photo(s) I'm sure I've seen in a book. Everything is NOT on the internet!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 22/02/2026 18:30

And I can't even get to my Colette section of the bookshelves (I just tried) because there's so much crap lots of useful stuff in the way.

If only I could magic up a few storerooms IRL.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/02/2026 18:55

Afternoon tea with gerbils and Rosy - perfection!

I saw the turmeric discussion on the last thread - I take it too, but haven’t noticed lawn flavoured burps - I take the Nutrition Geeks one, and an apple cider supplement that also has some turmeric in it, I think. I will be very spicy!

I keep adding supplements, in the hopes that one will be The one that helps me - B12, iron, and now amino acids - I did a blood test recently that showed I have sub clinical hypothyroidism, and apparently you need a selection of amino acids to convert T4 to T3. As my mum had an underactive thyroid, it is in the family, so maybe the amino acids will help.

Amusingly, my mum and the cat were on the same thyroid supplement (thyroxine). The cat had started going bald round her tail, and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism - and was on exactly the same tablets as mum - mum took hers every other day, and the cat took hers weekly. If mum hadn’t got her tablets free, as a chronic prescription, it would have been cheaper for her to get them from the vet! 😂

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 22/02/2026 19:02

I thought everything had gone quiet over on the last thread. Thank you for the new thread @DeanElderberry

Bar-gerbil, I'd like a hot chocolate (made with milk and no turmeric please), plus a Baileys. I'm not dancing tonight as my knee is giving me gyp. (Perhaps I should have the turmeric after all?)🤔

Oh. Did I miss helping with the move?

I see Glenda wasn't much use either.

I was once prescribed ferrous sulphate tablets by my GP for iron deficiency.
I thought the name sounded familiar and when I got home I realised why. On the kitchen table was a box of ferrous sulphate powder, which I'd bought earlier to feed my Azaleas!Grin

Hi Boily, I hope your tooth is better?

DeanElderberry · 22/02/2026 19:30

I was on Thyroxine for years, and eventually started getting tireder and tireder (and having nasty nosebleeds) decided to wean myself off it, and felt much better. The GP was a bit horrified when I confessed, but he got my bloods checked and they'd stabilised nicely. I now suspect that it was a mild auto-immune problem related to the wheat allergy. Bodies do weird things.

I had my steak which was perfect, black and crisp ouside, melting and pink on the inside. No alcohol, since even though Sundays are not in the count of 40 days, we don't say alleluia or the Gloria in Lent, so a little restraint was called for.

Tomato juice with worcestershire sauce and a squeeze of lemon is very nice.

if I give you a bunch of sympathy flowers, remember this is the Bluestocking and they will NOT give you hay fever

I have that issue with the emojis.

Glad to see Boily back and bouncing.

Right, now for that twallock-buster I ordered earlier.
