Opening soon in a salubrious location.

And thanks to the miraculous qualities, although we will indeed have

One-steps and two-steps and the divil knows what new steps
We know that we never would be dull again, bedad
We'll have wine, porter and lemonade.
We'll have cocktails and cocoa and all
We'll have champagnes tonight
But NO real pains next morning
Tonight when we dance at the Bluestocking Ball

slight apologies to Frank Harte

Pay - hang on I have never had to pay in here ‘!

5% more than the price of a regular flying pig, obviously.

Also ‘Treat leather sofas & chairs.’

I don’t have any but if I did, what should I treat them to?

Meringues with cream and a cherry on top. If they don't want them, then you get to eat them.

Don't know if that'll work if you don't have Spotify.
Alice the Camel is a song I learnt at Guide camp. It fits all the criteria for a Guide camp song - silly, repetitive, doesn't require much in the way of singing ability, mildly amusing. The only thing it misses is being slightly risqué.

The one that I remember is "Oh, you'll never get to heaven..."

The most risqué verse was possibly "Oh you'll never get to heaven....[repeat]
On [boy's name] knee...[repeat]
Cos [boy's name]knee...
Is wobbeleeeeeeeeeee!"

Marie, I've done a few N&D gerbil pix, including the first one. Is this what you're after?

Thank you v much Android, I love these! I too prefer them to the 'less realistic' ones [You're catching on Midge, you're catching on.....

I tried to save the image for later use, it saved as a 'Web file' so I'm going to try to post it here to see if that format is accepted.
Nope, it says
One or more of your images isn't a valid image file (only jpg, png, and gif are allowed)😕

FuzzyPuffling · 23/02/2026 13:19

What is the flying guinea pigs speciality? I do think they are rather cute.

Oh, I remember that one!

Also "in powder and paint/the Lord don't want you as you ain't"

For some reason: "The minister's car/The minister's car won't go that far..."

The dissing of the minister/minister's car reminds me of a French 'song' that used to be sung by rowdy passengers if a train gets stuck at a station :

Il est cocu, le chef de gare [the station master is a cuckold]
Il est cocu, le chef de gare
Il est cocu, le chef de gare
Il est....
and so on and so on.

The idea was that the station master would do absolutely everything in his power to get that blasted train moving so it was out of his station and out of earshot!😄

Take a limited screenshot of just the image - it accepts those & I think they're smaller anyway, so MN doesn't reject it on those grounds..

What’s the name of the white -painted establishment just beyond The Bluestocking in the flying gerbil picture?

I can’t quite read it, but it might be The Bluestocking #4. Is that the drum practice annexe, or where the gerbils rehearse their latest production in absolute secrecy? I assume The Bluestocking buildings #2 & #3 are behind and to the right of the picture.

Saw the orthopaedic surgeon today.

He booked an MRI for my tendon within the next six weeks. I'm seeing the orthotics department tomorrow and he'll see me again in two months. If the tendon is torn we'll discuss surgery.

I went to a sofa store and discussed sofas then ordered shrubs and herbs for the garden when I got home.

The slabs arrived this morning on a low loader - blocking the main road we live on. Then the slabs were unloaded onto the side of the common driveway to the garages that was not already blocked by the landscaper's van which pissed off the neighbours. I had already left for the hospital.

There are days when I leave things to my husband, even though I'm project-managing the landscaping.

JanesLittleGirl · 23/02/2026 16:33

Psst! If anybody asks I'm not in the Bluestocking and you haven't seen me all day. I'm definitely not sitting in the alcove at the far end of the Snug, enjoying a Dark and Stormy.

Bloody septic has just invited me to a meeting at 5pm. CF can fuck off. Hasn't he heard of the time difference?

I'm so glad you explained that. I had no idea! I thought it was a typo and couldn't work it out.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/02/2026 17:13

My dad used to sing a very repetitive song, to the tune of Onward Christian Soldiers - “Lloyd George knew my father, father knew Lloyd George, Lloyd George knew my father, father knew Lloyd George……..”

Magpiecomplex · 23/02/2026 17:33

Does anyone here know Pink Pyjamas? (Another Guide song)

MarieDeGournay · 23/02/2026 17:53

We had a song My grandfather died and he left me a - and you could make up lots of rhymes e.g. he left me a mule that would carry me to school etc etc.
Great for car journeys!
