This podcast appeared in my feed today via an affiliated show… I know it is naive but it’s still hard to believe how blinkered - and unbearably smug the US liberal wing is on this. This is rubbish ( from the ‘Center for Investigative Reporting’, which I now wouldn’t trust to tell me if it was raining), but still enlightening… wondered if anyone else had heard it.

A six month dig to discredit Gaines - we’re not supposed to notice that everyone they’re trying to gotcha in this won’t dignify any of it - that finds her hiding (spoiler alert) nothing?

I just think this ‘red flags’ idea about Gaines is absurd. This podcast - and poster here - are going after her by association because they don’t like Trump and think anyone he favours must be awful, holding her responsible for the behaviour of her male coach, and because they simply truly believe that this is just a white blonde woman being vile to another woman.

The very idea of the importance of single-sex spaces is completely ignored and Thomas’s sex is an elephant in the room, and that’s why I find this abhorrent. Like Brexit, the US left will never get itself together over Trump until they actually figure out that the people who vote for him aren’t cartoon idiots who need telling what’s what. That was one of the biggest takeaways from this exceedingly disingenuous ‘investigation’.

Are you saying that a male person claiming to be a woman was changing in the female spaces? So if “transwomen” like LT are make, why do you think they belong in female spaces?

What's the point? Hows admits he's a man, admits humans are male and female, admits LT is male... I mean really it's got to be clear this poster is just an MRA shouting out in the open now isn't it?

Nice try but the context of discussion was whether Gaines lied about LT's deliberate exposure not whether anyone was forced to change in LT's presence & given her team mates specifically said LT did no such thing at the swim meet in question AND no one else has backed up Gaines' version of events it would appear Gaines is lying.

@CohensDiamondTeeth i know. I think it takes a very er… special kind of person to come on to a feminist board and scold women for defending women’s rights. I do feel a bit sorry for those posters. That the only way they can find human engagement is by deliberately searching out topics that annoy them and try to antagonise others. I blame the demise of care in the community.

Only in TRA La La Land would someone think it’s a legitimate debate as to whether a man’s cock was fully out, partially out, or still covered while he was in a place he shouldn’t have been.

That's because the podcast was specifically about right wing propaganda not single sex spaces. They actually make that point a couple of times at the start that the podcast makes no claims about the ethics of single sex spaces & wants to focus on the political element.

That's not a personal admission of sighting LT's nudity.

William Thomas should never have been in the women’s changing rooms, should never have been allowed to compete against women and should not have been allowed to watch women and girls strip.

Riley Gaines is free to vote and campaign for whoever she wishes (and frankly, William Thomas and the Democrats’ insane insistence that TWAW almost certainly won Trump a fair few votes).

What Torres uncovers here isn’t absurd. RG does have GOP platforms, a regular spot on Fox, is on the lucrative speaking circuit, has some odd Christian nationalist and anti-immigration views, and is a vocal Trump supporter. That might sit okay with you, but not me. I’m fine with her campaigning for keeping men out of women’s sport based on her experience, even if some memories of that experience may vary, but it is the political crusading from the results that is troubling.

This is the thing about men. They'd rather ruin their reputations and look ridiculous than admit they're wrong. Male stubbornness is a real thing. Myself and other women will readily admit when we're wrong. It's a very male trait to be too 'proud', too stubborn to apologise. Yet another (in a long long long line) male 'tell'.

If you stuff up or get something wrong, as we all do from time to time, you gain credit and greater standing by admitting you got something wrong. It's a benefit. This, is what women know and understand. It's what men do not know, and do not understand.
