I know

Oh, no. It's now Dr Rupa Huq, Labour.

Oh dear, her point didn't hit. There was an advert for the post 😆

More attempted gotchas from Cameron Thomas, Liberal Democrat. Does he think his role today is to defend the BBC?

If this footage gets to Trump he'll be more motivated to sue.

The irony of Cameron Thomas demonstrating the exact same bias as the BBC whilst questioning bias of the BBC!

nauticant · 24/11/2025 16:22

Rupa Huq is also making this about gotchas to undermine Prescott. This is Parliament not working propery in terms of its oversight function.

WarriorN · 24/11/2025 16:22

First mention of trans but no discussion

nauticant · 24/11/2025 16:25

Rupa Huq: Prescott's memo was about hobby horse Culture War issues that didn't represent the population of the UK.

WarriorN · 24/11/2025 16:21

No he really wasn’t.

Donald’s sexual harassment convictions doesn’t mean the bbc can misrepresent a speech he made

And yet when other men have convictions for rape, the BBC respects their preferred pro nouns. It is hard to fathom.

Sausagenbacon · 24/11/2025 16:28

God RH is annoying.

WarriorN · 24/11/2025 16:30

Sounds like David Grossman should be on the stand tbh

Damian Hinds, Conservative, I think, is putting the Committee back on track with the issue of the misleading editing in the Panorama programme. He's pointing out that the BBC approach was to present the "bigger truth" even it meant lying to the audience to give it to them

WarriorN · 24/11/2025 16:34

everyone was blind to the blindspot splice

Telephonederby · 24/11/2025 16:34

On "The Rest is Politics" (which I'm trying to avoid at the moment), they discussed the BBC situation, and Alistair Campbell said it was about an editing failure on the Trump speech, and reporting Gaza differently depending on the audience. No mention of trans issues, except that he then said that some people say that the BBC is "woke", but that there's no truth in that.

Oh, Alistair has had a lot to say about some people at the BBC being "so far on the JK Rowling side" recently 🙄

Hinds:

“the bbc has a bigger role than ever in the information meltdown and mosh pit of misinformation 😆💪”

“They are the ones who should say when an incident comes along they should be sorting it out”

I was watching until the plumber I've been waiting for since this morning turned up😠but really 😀that the plumbing problem is being sorted at last! so thank you for the updates.

The rallying-around to defend the BBC seems to be partly motivated by/framed as defending the institution from attack from The Right. I've heard lots of little comments about' where is this coming from'/'what is their agenda'/' why are they trying to bring down the BBC' etc.
Hence the focus on the Panorama/Trump thing - criticism can easily be framed as coming from Trump supporters.
If they get around to the pro-trans bias, that could be framed similarly - all part of the same right-wing pro-Trump assault on the beloved Beeb.

NotThatWay · 24/11/2025 16:37

Oh god, why does Lib Dem flowery-tie man keep getting so many questions!! Give the guy next to him a chance!

Apart from the Chair, I'm not finding the MPs' questions very insightful and I wish they'd stop trying to make out that Prescott is a Right wing agitator.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 24/11/2025 16:39

'They are a force I identify as being Good, so whatever they do does not matter and no one should notice or mind or comment'.

Normal bollocks .

We have so few MPs who should be in a position of responsibility any higher than serving coffee. At which they would be useless; endless wittering and nothing actually done.

This is the nutjobs talking to more nutjobs, it cannot end anywhere sensible.

nauticant · 24/11/2025 16:40

Cameron Thomas, Liberal Democrat going yet again for a gotcha. He is very tiresome.

nauticant · 24/11/2025 16:41

If you read a summary saying "there's something to be concerned about here" what you can do is refer to the longer document that's summarised and then to form your view.

it’s ridiculous. He stated earlier that he came from a working class immigrant background who went to oxbridge off the back of using bbc quotes in his essays

I'm also pretty shocked at the various MPs making statements about Trump in a Select Committee - I would have thought they'd attempt to be more diplomatic considering the tensions that exist between the US Administration and the UK Govt.

NotThatWay · 24/11/2025 16:44

Trivia

Who is the dude behind Prescott? He is wearing a t shirt, a shirt, a waistcoat, a jacket and what appears to be a pocket watch 😆So cool.
