Five nurses working at Darlington Memorial Hospital have filed a legal case suing their employer, an NHS trust, for sexual harassment and sex discrimination. The nurses object to sharing the women’s changing facilities with a male colleague, Rose, who identifies as female. The hearing started on October 20th, with evidence now complete. Submissions are being made on November 11th. To view the hearing online requests for access had to be made by October 17th. The hearing is being live tweeted by Tribunal Tweets who have background to this case on their substack. An alternative to X is to use Nitter: nitter.net/tribunaltweets or nitter.poast.org/tribunaltweets

The Judge made clear at the start of the public hearing on Day 1 that only TT or press have permission to tweet. If online observers see/hear something in the court that isn’t reported by TT, we don’t mention it until the next time there’s a break. This is a very cautious approach to avoid any accusations of “live reporting” on MN. Commentary on the content of TT tweets is fine as soon as they’re posted on X.

I don't think living in your female gender means - trying to get your wife pregnant

Living fully in your gender is an such bollocks. How can you define who fits such a nebulous concept? And therefore normal safeguarding etc. doesn't apply?

So the BBC know how important this is but still choose to blame the women.

VeggieParishLunch · 16/01/2026 10:31

The BBC summary includes this bit, which is remarkably clear, and would not have been put this way even a year ago:

Rose Henderson, who is a biological male who identifies as a woman

It is being covered by Alison Holt, who SEEN in Journalism have said is really good. Previously, this would have been routed through or had input from the LGBT desk, so the coverage would have been dreadful.

I don't see them blaming the woman. They are just summarising the arguments presented in the tribunal.

Hopefully this judge won't have relied on AI for the judgement.

The barrister for the trust said the nurses had "demonised" Rose and that staff were only given access to single-sex spaces if they had "declared they were living their life fully in that gender".

After all these years and many claims, I still don’t know what living life fully in a female gender means.

Well, Beth Upton told us it's about how you move through your life Hmm Talk about nebulous

Signing in. Fingers crossed but expecting the worst after the Peggie debacle.

Justme56 · 16/01/2026 10:46

At least they can’t rely on the 2 previous ETs which seemed to suggest because only 1 person complained it was all absolutely fine!

VeggieParishLunch · 16/01/2026 10:46

I agree - also very nervous here, even though it seems such an obvious case

It’s n+1, I think, as the required number. And the timescale required is t-1y, where t = time of first complaint and y = year.

ThisHappyHiker · 16/01/2026 10:56

Absolutely boils my piss the BBC headline saying trans woman. He's a man, they object to sharing a changing room with a man.
