Always been GC, but now afraid I'm becoming transphobic

I've always been gender critical and 100% in support of safe spaces for natal women only. I'm completely comfortable with being gender critical. But I'm concerned I've crossed a line into becoming a full on bigot, which is something I don't want to be. Due to my own background of mental health and trauma issues I follow pages on this issue on Facebook. I just saw one with a graphic post saying Using Preferred Pronouns Is Suicide Prevention and it made me want to scream and throw things.

I've been suicidal, I've attempted. I've battled see harm and self destructive behaviours since childhood. I should be sympathetic about the struggles people are having . But I feel manipulated seeing posts like that one. I use preferred names when I'm addressing trans persons. I am kind to them, I don't mention their issues. I treat them the same as anyone else. I will call a bloke Sue even if his real name is Bob, it feels odd, but I will do it to be respectful . But calling a he a she is a step too far. I would either use their name or use they.

Why do I feel so strongly that I'm being manipulated ? None of the trans people I know have abused me in any way. They haven't infringed on my boundaries . I have 2 trans friends, another who is non binary and 2 acquaintances. They have all been decent .

I just feel resentful that I'm being made to feel responsible for someone not taking their life because I don't affirm their identity ?

I'm horrible aren't I ? Please sort my head out !

Well, there IS a group known for being active long into the night and sleeping during the day. I am not talking about vampires, but this group are rumoured to reside in dark or poorly lit spaces.

Indeed. I believe they're noted for seeing women as "hysterical" and "rabid" when we refuse to obey the demands of men to access undressing women and girls.

Sad times eh?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/10/2025 08:21

Or even worse. Which could mean a number of things, all of which need drilling down into.

That group is indeed prone to using that terminology towards women usually in an extreme ego bolstering exercise.

The point of the prison stats analysis is to show that the men-who-call-themselves-women prison population are not a subset of imprisoned women in terms of their offending patterns, but - as one would expect - are like other imprisoned men.

As you say, that point is indeed usually ignored by those who try to dismantle the stats, moggly.

Ha, yes, I just don't sleep much, never have, when I was a grad student I often had entire experiments set up or even finished before my fellow students and lab staff came in.

Isn't that up to you? I mean, the 6 of you can work it out and put a plan into action.

Helleofabore · 04/10/2025 08:39

Job sharing would mean there are 7 of you. And we were told there are only 6.

I’m fat. I identify as two people. Hence I’m having two donuts for my breakfast.

OP, everyday we get live examples of how we are manipulated. And some posters have given great examples of how women are manipulated as well.

You should be assured that if you do look further than just reading statements that simply don't look logical or are statements that have been catastrophised using false comparisons and then decide your position and you are constantly updating your position to take in new information, that you are not wrong to feel manipulated by some of the information that is published.

FranticFrankie · 04/10/2025 15:40

There appears to be more than one interruptaron (spelling???)

Again- here come the insults, the pithy comments, the scathing writing style, the sheer nastiness, just aimed at those who believe in women's rights. And if we dont agree with them we're right-wing evil transphobes. And hard of thinking
Even when their grammar is crap

Lofty sounds quite overwrought. And get away with the pregnant people. Yes I know women are people...still can't agree with that phrase. It's all kinds of wrong
Stop twisting posters' words into over-emotional nonsense
Posters who get so upset should take a break for their own health.

MNHQ are very quick to delete; please report if you think you're seeing transphobia or hate for transpeople

You probably dont even realise (or care) that some of us have transpeople in our lives.
Oh dear- they'll probably say that we should know better!

“You were always transphobic and aligned yourself with a group that obsessively works to removing trans people from public life and hurts cisgender women in the process.

You're aligned with people who think trans women getting raped multiple times is really funny, that call the violent genital torture of a trans woman "appealing", that celebrates when trans people end their lives or flee the country, who call for the elimination of trans people.

You're just having a pikachu moment, that's all.”

This is hyperbolic and rather concerning to see.

And again, incredibly manipulative and posted to shame any woman who believes that female people need single sex provisions that exclude any male person over the age of about 8 years old.

Another example of what the OP was referring to. Emotional manipulation.

You really are hilariously obsessed with Pokémon, it’s something I associated with my little brother in the 90s. All your posts wang on about pikachu. Do you think adult women your own age are likely to find that compelling?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 04/10/2025 17:02

Sigh. I can't work out if our resident neo sexists are knowingly lying, or just so caught up in their black and white thinking that any negative observations GC realists make about individual trans women are immediately rounded up into "OMG you said that about all trans people, hey everyone listen to this awful thing GC people say", while the underlying fact that some trans women are displaying exactly the type of male behaviour that single sex provisions exist to mitigate is rounded down in the opposite direction to zero.

Either way, it might work in terrified trans-fuddled communities where people have no direct contact with GC analysis and dialogue, leaving the space open for these neo sexist ideologues to consolidate their hold over the community by making terrifying them about what the dreaded transphobes said over there, but it really doesn't work when they lie/distort what women have said in the same thread, where the very posts that belie them remain for anyone to read.

I don’t think Bee knows many women. Apart from his mum maybe.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/10/2025 17:03

We can all lay out a list of the countless misogynistic violent fantasists Bee and the whole genderist movement are aligned with, of course.

What is a pikachu moment and how is it relevant?

PixieandMe · 04/10/2025 17:05

Just remove yourself from the Facebook pages and stop reading about the subject. Care only about the actual human beings that you know.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/10/2025 17:06

I think it’s Bees extremely online middle aged male way of saying “surprised”.
