I have a super simple sock pattern and have lost count of the number of pairs I've knitted over the years. Plain stocking-stitch, but wonderful self-patterning yarns, Sadly, increasingly arthritic thumbs and one index finger mean I don't knit anywhere as near as much as I once did.

I would love it if you could send me the pattern by private message, if you can. 💙

Oooh Taz, that was quite the revelation😀
We wouldn't care a bit that it was non-fiction and allegedly dead boring, I think I speak for us all when I say that we are the kind of people who find the kind of things that other people feel dead boring not dead boring😂

Going back a bit - Woley, that Persian pattern looks superb, can't wait to see the photos when you've done it!

Myrtle, do you realise that ' teal wool for the borders' can be sung to the tune of 'Three Coins in the Fountain'?😁

No, I didn't. Thank you!

MyrtleLion · 24/09/2025 12:19

This is a lace pattern called Greensleeves, knitted in teal instead of the duplicate criss cross pattern.

Mostly knit togethers, yarn-overs and slip, slip knits, but also this new stitch:

  • Sk2p – slip 1 st purlwise, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over knit stitch (2 sts decreased)

Oooh - that is so pretty, @MyrtleLion - and I love the colour.

I am knitting myself a cardigan at the moment - a really nice, simple pattern - in turquoise. I’m using a Scheepjes yarn called chunky monkey - it is 100% acrylic, and it is so, so soft.

Myrtle, I've PMed you.

@MyrtleLion Have you tried this one? It came up on FB yesterday & I fancied having a go myself - it looks more intricate than it actually is in the making IYKWIM.

I'm crocheting a blanket for Woolly Hugs (hospital blankets) - no idea what size it'll be. Photos later.

That looks lovely. I will check it out.

MarieDeGournay · 24/09/2025 13:42

I've been doing one of my occasional roll-calls of Stockingers, and I've thought of AlisonDonut who used to make super ceramic-y things and who has either changed her name or hasn't been here for a while.
And Inkymoose? I don't think you've popped in recently?

I like to know how fellow-Stockingers are, and for them to know that they are missed when they're not aroundSmile

Do you have a link to the pattern?

Why has my post been hidden? I just said that I’d done a particular blanket a number of times and linked to the pattern?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 24/09/2025 14:01

@MyrtleLion https://knit-charts.com/knitting-stitch-patterns/item/easy-knitting-stitch-16.html

The chart looks fuzzy on the page.

That's weird. But MN has been a bit glitchy recently.

Taztoy · 24/09/2025 14:04

It’s the Marianne blogspot Jordan blanket if any of you know it. I’ve done at least 12 of them in various sizes.

OMG, I've been hidden, too!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 24/09/2025 14:11

I tried to link to the pattern. It's lovely.

Taztoy · 24/09/2025 14:15

It’s and it’s dead easy - knit 10 rows for a garter border

then knit and purl 4 rows - making sure on the purl side you do 6 knit stitches at each end for a garter border.

then it’s knit 6, purl 4 knit 4 all the way across until knit 6 at the end.

purl side is k6, purl to k6 for border. For every row.

do that for 8 rows

then the knit and purl 4 rows and then knit 6, purl 4 knit 4 with the knit border and the purl side same as before.

then the knit & purl 4 rows and repeat until it’s the right sort of length, ending with the k and p 4 rows. Then knit 9 rows for the border. Cast off.

the very small size is 88 stitches - but as long as you take off 12 stitches for the border it’s just 8 stitches related.

AsWithGlad · 24/09/2025 14:42

MN might be extra wary of people linking to copyrighted patterns, or writing them out, even if that’s not what the posters are doing intentionally or at all.

The pattern is on Ravelry, though, and free. There are 468 projects made using it, so it gives you an idea of what it will look like in other yarns and colours. The pattern tells you how to make it bigger, if you want to.

Look here.

Fingers crossed this doesn’t get deleted.

Taztoy · 24/09/2025 14:50

The person says use away at the pattern as long as you credit her - she even allows her patterns to be used to make items for sale from memory. I wouldn’t break copyright!

AsWithGlad · 24/09/2025 15:07

Apologies for the circuitous link. This should take you to Ravelry.

I’m not a copyright expert, @Taztoy . You do whatever you think is appropriate.

MarieDeGournay · 24/09/2025 15:11

You can't blame MNHQ for being cautious with links to knitting patterns - I mean, imagine the threat to democracy if this fell into the wrong hands!😁

I wouldn’t put up a link to a pattern that was copyrighted. I’d never have the neck on me to do that!!
