80s fashions... What were we thinking?!

I had a gorgeous boned-bodice, puffy-sleeved, full-skirted dress in layers of net & fabrics in black & metallic gold. I wore it to a work Christmas dinner - & nobody else had really bothered!🙁

I have a lovely (!!!) photo that I’m not posting from 1988 and I’m wearing a meringue coz I was the bride.

A bad decade for wedding photos.

I voted, Maud! Looking forward to seeing the results.

Taztoy · 16/09/2025 19:30

I voted 🤣🤣🤣

Magpiecomplex · 16/09/2025 19:33

I voted too!
Anyone else still have an inner voice that thinks electric blue mascara is a good thing?

You are wicked!

I made one of my best friends ( irl) in S & B. Probably when we discovered we had far more in common than what we were wearing!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2025 19:49

We married in 1986 so I too had a meringue dress.
my bridesmaiding experiences however spared me the satin numbers. One when I was maybe 10 was a blue and white high waisted style which was quite sweet on a child, and the other was a purple and white print sort of gypsy styled dress when I was 21

FuzzyPuffling · 16/09/2025 19:51

Anyone noticed that Maud is taking over MN?
Maudsnet?

MyrtleLion · 16/09/2025 19:52

The celebrations have started but Maud may change her outfit once she's had advice from S&B.

There's 33 votes for Maud's outfit. There's not 33 Bluestockingers here. Maud has new fans!

Magpiecomplex · 16/09/2025 20:01

Maud deserves all the fans!

Boiledbeetle · 16/09/2025 20:02

Sexy gerbil!

Now there's a phrase I never thought I'd use.

Boiledbeetle · 16/09/2025 20:05

She's channelling Posie!

Colin!!
You lot do make need laugh.

I've just tried to explain Maud to DH, with fashion photos. He laughed too.

"Good evening, friends, & thank you for that wonderful, warm welcome.

It's great to be back, & I want you all to know that my time in the big city hasn't changed me at all. I'm still the same humble -

Oi! Android! Shut up while I'm talking! And get this extra arm off me! I said no extra limbs & I meant NO EXTRA LIMBS!

I spent the decade in Lady Di pie-frill collared maternity dresses.

I never understood the whole collar thing on those.

The rest yes lovely loose, could hide a weeks shoplifted shopping underneath, but surely when very pregnant, hot tired and ready to scream that bloody tight neck and bow can't have been fun!

Tell him he's welcome at the Staunch Ally.

He's most appreciative! If bemused.

Swashbuckled · 16/09/2025 20:22

Maud has a certain look in her eye in that jumpsuit.

Yes, it is.
She brought to mind Carolyn in Killing Eve.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2025 20:29

Colin is following her around like a puppydog. It’s a good thing dachshunds aren’t a breed prone to drooling. And that he’s a Good Dog.

Hes making gruntling noises. you know, when a dog is the opposite of disgruntled.

I can't get over how badass she looks in the blue jumpsuit!

The other one still looks ace, but a more relaxed vibe
