Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Because safeguarding principles are not there simply to protect from assault, they are there to protect from many harms, including the harm of the non-consensual sharing of single sex provisions with the opposite sex.

This is the fallacy of narrowing the focus in an attempt to minimise the issue so it appears to be not an issue. However it doesn’t work because safeguarding principles are based on the previous year’s assault rate. Neither is it based on ‘gender identity’ segregation because risk of harm is based on the sex class of a person which is unchangeable.

Still, I recommend that Sammybabes actually reads the threads here. Lots of great safeguarding explanations here on MN.

1. I don't have these figures to hand. I can do some digging. Just wanted to check how many is an acceptable number?

2)My main focus isn't on trans women, personally my feminist work focuses on mothers and mothering, in particular breastfeeding. I know many other feminist who focus on huge range of other issues from women in prison, women in the work force, domestic violence, women in conflict areas etc etc.

3)We use sex based language and service provision where required and we continue to break the the cage of socially constructed gender.

The “sane side” blunder is just the chocolate coated cherry on the cake 😂
