Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

That full outcome makes good reading. It almost sounds as if the BSB is drawing a line in the sand to try and prevent at least some of the many vexatious complaints they receive.

Hopefully the news has reached whichever refugio Maugham is currently holidaying in and has ruined his day.
This must strengthen Sarah's deformation case against him?

'Public Interest' and 'Freedom of Speech' are concepts that seem to have escaped certain quarters. It's worrying when it's people working in and around law.

Good news! The GLP will find a window between its various campaigns of harassing individuals and organisations for their lawful and protected speech, to comment on their latest failure. I am sure many of us will be interested to see how they spin this. And whether it will turn into pleas for more money. Let's have a bet. I don't think the GLP can throw Sparkles under a bus without alienating many of their donors. I think it will go one of these ways
A. We won!
B. The establishment is corrupt and transphobic
C. We won again!
D. We are going to judicial review

I think GLP will claim that they do have a good case but currently need to focus on other projects whilst posting a link to ask for more donations.

Weddell has been trying to spin it as the BSB being transphobic and corrupt on BlueSky.

He has also just (as in within the last few minutes) posted this which suggests he and GLP are planning to appeal it somehow.

I can't say anymore at this time, but this is not the end of this travesty of injustice against a woman.

Justice will be had.

Without meaning to, Euan has hit the nail on the head. But the woman involved in the injustice is Sarah and the injustice is the process that he had GLP are putting her through.
