Get the popcorn folks. GLP is getting ready to lose again.

They are going after barrister Sarah Phillimore for referring to a man as a man. They think they are going to lawfare her into silence.

Her blog:

Here we are now: Entertain us
I have had now 7 years and counting of the various tactics used to 'silence' those who won't comply with prevailing orthodoxy. How are those tactics holding up?
https://sarahphillimore.substack.com/p/here-we-are-now-entertain-us?

The only thing is other TAs have already tried this on Phillimore multiple times. They went to the Bar Council their claims were dismissed. They all failed. More to the point this ‘Kate’ is the same guy complaining again who already failed. Sarah Phillimore knows the law and likes explaining it to TAs and making them lose. So she doesn't even resent the attempt.

As Sarah has stated "They pick on someone who not only enjoys this but has now a vast repository of knowledge about the law in this area."

Sarah Phillimore

Because I don’t tweet as a public body, an employer or provider of goods or services. I am not subject to the Equality Act. I tweet as a private individual and I will say again. You can’t change sex. A man cannot be a woman. I cannot be compelled to call a man a woman.

A trans identifying man such as ‘Kate’ who frequently takes to the public stage to urge violence against women and declare his intent to enter women’s spaces, is a dangerous man and one who will attract public comment.

I have been watching this with interest this morning 🍿

Good thread by Dennis Kavanagh (and slight spoonerism typo 😆)

She takes no prisoners. Jolly good luck to her!

deadpan · 28/08/2025 09:31

I hope Sarah gets her wish!

RedToothBrush · 28/08/2025 09:33

Seriously there's a limit to how many people Miss X can be, and it's not as if many of us don't follow Sarah Phillimore.

At first when I read this I was slightly nervous, but again if it's who I think it is, it's both hilarious and curious.

Why Sarah? Is she being singled out because she's saying legal things that are particularly inconvenient and because they think she's an easy (easier) target?

RedToothBrush · 28/08/2025 09:41

I love how they complain of harassment for women stating the material reality that you can't change sex (you can't. Legally you reassign gender, you don't change sex) but then take action against women (always women) to try and destroy their careers in an actual act of harassment.

PronounssheRa · 28/08/2025 09:41

GLP now have in house 'journalism'. Im sure it will be entirely subjective and factual.

Interestingly I'm sure I know who X is, but wouldnt have if GLP hadn't drawn attention to them.

As to why Sarah, probably because she isn't sufficiently scared into silence.

Weirdly, Sarah could claim journalistic protections if she claims what she is saying is in the public interest to make a point of them being a man if there is a relevancy ESPECIALLY if this individual counts themselves as a public figure and/or a journalist and they are trying to influence others.

Basically if a incel puts a bunch of sexist shite online attacking women, and is trying to influence others there'd absolutely be no question over you being able to criticise and examine various aspects of their life which reflect on their attitude to women.

This is no different.

KitchenDancefloor · 28/08/2025 09:49

‘I'm a journalist with non-profit campaign group Good Law Project, which is now producing journalism in-house.’

= communications officer

They really think everyone else is stupid and can be fooled by their mangling of language

Why Sarah?

Because these people are really dumb. Obviously she is prominent, but also obviously she has already defeated attempts to silence her countless times. So this is only going to end one way. They can't handle powerful women so they have to go after her.

When Sarah wins again it brings support to countless others who believe like her, but don't say it openly.

It is the same reason they are fixated on JKR. No women can be allowed to speak the truth.

It is the same reason they never go after Catholic Priests or Muslim men who don't believe in gender. No-one is going to prosecute right wing men for saying this stuff in the UK. It is Sexism.

The thing is though sexism is very powerful up to the point it falls apart. You only need a few brave women to undermine it if they have the legal safeguards to speak the truth.

Looking forward to this one, it should be entertaining.

I can almost hear Sarah cracking her knuckles from here.

potpourree · 28/08/2025 10:12

Iirc Sarah has a disability, which I'm sure makes her more of a target for these creeps.

RedToothBrush · 28/08/2025 10:14

Weirdly what happens if Sarah wins?

The GLP set a legal case where it's demonstrated that calling a man, a man is fine.

It makes it v high risk for them. I don't understand the logic in this respect.

Somebody asked her yesterday if it was the man who had already reported her and had his complaint dismissed, and she replied ‘I couldn’t possibly comment’, so that narrows it down.

That good laugh project ‘journalist’ writes like a seven year old, it’s hilarious!

ItsCoolForCats · 28/08/2025 10:18

Sarah is amazing ⭐

Dennis Kavanagh has a good point when he says that they repeatedly go after Sarah, but not any of the male barristers who are equally outspoken in this area. They know what a women is when they want to harass and silence her.

Imperativvv · 28/08/2025 10:20

This should be a laugh.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/08/2025 10:20

Sarah’s response to the Dennis Kavanagh thread.

GLP are going after Sarah Philmore and are going to lose
Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2025 10:24

Go Sarah (a former MNer!) They are the bullies. As she says, they lament that she doesn’t “feel fear” following the SC judgment, as they obviously think she should. It’s all about coercive control.

ItsCoolForCats · 28/08/2025 10:40

Who is 'Kate'?

SerendipityJane · 28/08/2025 10:46

I can't help but remember the ERG - Rees-Moggs old self abuse chums in the Tory party. You 'd have newspapers slavering over JRM as he loftily pronounced that the ERG would "consider" what the government was proposing as if they were some Lord High Admiral overseeing their fleet.

The GLP really do give me a similar vibe. They will plod into a situation to "assess" it and finally divine determine how they should place the majesty of the GLP in the universal reckoning over it, before going on to lose.

Maybe they need their own show on GB News - bulk up the entertainment side of the franchise ?

Mmmnotsure · 28/08/2025 10:50

potpourree · 28/08/2025 10:12

Iirc Sarah has a disability, which I'm sure makes her more of a target for these creeps.

She does. To add to her other protected characteristics.

It is also why she is always very clear that you cannot identify out of the material reality of your own body,

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/08/2025 10:53

Helen Webberley posting about going after GC women on trans Reddit this morning. No one has mentioned Sarah yet but they think our laws should benefit them more in persecuting women they don’t like.
