And, just to add to my last post, the huge pressures young women face to buy in to this facsimile of womanhood must, I imagine, be part of the reason why some girls resort to defining themselves as male or non-binary. That self-definition alllows them to escape the pull towards a sexualised unrealism and live happily within their material reality.

Ironically, they need to embrace an illusion in order to be able to live within their grounded and real bodies.

Your posts are honestly the most insightful writing I’ve read in a very long time. You’ve blown my mind. This is the absolute nail on the head for me. So accurate. Thank you.

I’m so confused. Isn’t a transgender woman a transman?

No. The other way around. It is confusing. Which is why asking questions should be encouraged. On my most tired days I cannot make sense of any of it.

Quote from the judge.
'Having seen you give evidence and your conduct throughout the trail, I am satisfied at the heart of your offending was your frustration at wanting sexual experiences with heterosexual males and, by definition, your need to deceive to achieve that - that frustration at not having a healthy outlet for sexual urges is hardly an unusual feature in sexual assault cases.'

Did the judge clarify that? Presumably it isn't meant to suggest that frustration justifies rape, but maybe moves beyond the simplistic and dangerous 'rape isn't a sex crime, it's a violent crime' mantra of a few decades ago.

In my interpretation the judge is saying
"the need to deceive - wanting sexual experiences with heterosexual males - and the only way to achieve that being by deceit - is a usual ( removed double negative ) feature in sexual assault cases"
or
"what you did has an identifiable feature commonly found in sexual assaults"

I don't think the Judge is making excuses. I think he is justifying his judgement that it is sexual assault, and the prison sentence he gave.

Edited

I think the judge is referencing the inevitable 'poor me, just want to have sex like the 'other women' do' defence by pointing out that frustration at not having sex is a commonality between this individual and other sexual assailants, ie, not unique and not mitigation. That's how I read it anyway.

I know this is going to sound off, but I know that some gay men like straight men and I sometimes wonder if some men become trans women in an attempt to attract them.
