NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #50

nauticant · 07/08/2025 21:44

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence was 29 July 2025. It will resume again over 1 to 2 September for closing submissions.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February 2025. Sandie Peggie returned to give more evidence on 29 July 2025.

Access to view the second part of the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] by 5pm on Wednesday 9 July. Detailed instructions were provided here:

Morning All

Are we WFTCHTJ

Yes, it's taking me back to the previous sittings.

Where did the rest of July and August go?

katmarie · 01/09/2025 09:37

I'm in with a clerk by the look of things, black screen with CVP clerk at the bottom, and 16 waiting in the lobby. It looks like they are letting people in now.

I’ve only just seen it - it’s quite eye wateringly embarrassing 🤣 with all that navel gazing and total obsession with self, I’m surprised he has any time for actual lawyering.

It fits in very well as a youth tiktok equivalent of the likes of JR doing a Look At Me horseback gallop through London to celebrate becoming a KC. Nauseating self-obsessed c~~~s.

GCITC · 01/09/2025 09:39

I'm also being serenaded by the dulcet tones of the WFTCHTJ man.

WFTCHTJ now and have planned some home admin tasks while listening to submissions but will comment randomly on anything that is too good/outrageous to wait for the breaks.

from Herald Scotland blog
9:39am
Might be a bit of a delay to closing submissions. We understand that there will be a hearing first thing on whether the written submissions to the tribunal can be published.
We're not sure if this will be a public or private hearing.
Some submissions have already been published online.
The Tribunal Tweets X account has copies of For Women Scotland's and Not All Gays.
TransLucent, a trans-led advocacy organisation, has also been given permission to intervene, but, as far as we're aware, their submission is not yet public.
There's also, obviously, submissions from the legal teams representing Sandie Peggie, and NHS Fife and Dr Beth Upton.
Worth noting that in July, Judge Susan Walker KC, President of Employment Tribunals (Scotland) issued a document called Presidential Guidance on Open Justice in Employment Tribunal Proceedings in Scotland.
It sets out how hearings should be accessible to the public and press.
It also confirms that accredited journalists can live-report proceedings and, crucially, that members of the media are entitled to inspect key documents used in hearings — including witness statements, submissions and case papers — to uphold transparency.

In but no pic or sound

WFTCHTJ · 01/09/2025 09:44

Oh that's a shame, we might not get to read TransLucent's submission?

NebulousSupportPostcard · 01/09/2025 09:44

Does anyone know if Vic Valentine's written witness statement has been made public please, either by Vic or through a transcribed copy via press or in person observers? I'd love to read that one.

ickky · 01/09/2025 09:44

I was kicked, now WFTCHTJ again.

GCITC · 01/09/2025 09:44

I do hope we get to see the drivel TransLucent has written to the court, especially if they don't want it made public.

Igneococcus · 01/09/2025 09:45

What form does TransLucent's intervention take? Apologies if this has been answered before, these threads are moving too fast for me.

Argh! Is there a way to log in from a phone?

I logged in to the hearing before from a laptop but the same details are just giving me a black screen (no wftchtj) from safari on an iPhone.

Could you download a differenet browser, say Chrome, Firefox, or Edge? If you did you might need to change your default browser by using Default Apps in Settings.

Right, I'm off to set all my alarm clocks so I don't sleep in til lunch.

I have been terrible and have struggled to wake in the mornings all summer but this morning I woke naturally and sat bolt upright in a haze, wondering why! 😂 All the alarm clocks worked across the universe for me.

INeedAPensieve · 01/09/2025 09:58

ArabellaScott · 01/09/2025 09:21

Yep. The Scottish government needs to be investigated. It's been taken over by a damaging, illegal ideology, and has pissed away vast amounts of our money promulgating this misogynist, destabilising, anti-science, anti-reality cult.

It has to end, now. It's undermining all faith in government, law, education, health, the media, the arts ...

Indeed. I actually feel it undermines the work that I do as well. I'm proud of the work I do and the help it gives to young people but the stain of gender ideology has seeped in to such an extent that even some of my findings and insight gets undermined by the equality team's determination to "queer" it all. I'm trying to push back but it's hard.

I'm into the conference
