How many “cis” male members of staff do you suppose would approach teenage girls in the lingerie department?

And the hash tag about tall women is seriously worrying as I know why they want you to think that they're just tall.

Oh. yes. They leverage tall women because it suits them to.

Tall women - meaning that surely female people are just getting confused between a tall woman and a male person.

Tall woman - 'tall' is just another adjective like 'trans', didn't you know? Both are types of 'women'.

Tall women - this type of woman is currently getting abused by female people for using the correct single sex space for them.

The list goes on. The leveraging and political appropriation of anyone who is convenient is par for the course.

A quick search of MN tells me this is 'nipple clamp Molly' who threatened to sue and got deselected as a candidate for the greens after bringing the party into disrepute.

Yeah I'm not sure Sophie Molly saying anything about safeguarding is going to help the argument for the M&S worker much.

That is the one!

murasaki · 06/08/2025 17:08

A pillar of society with impeccable taste in people who know how to behave in public spaces.

Oh, wait.

That is the one!

Yes, Sophie Molly/Sparkles/who the fuck knows now who declared at a 'protest', attended by Scottish Green MSP's, that he intends to 'shit on JKR'. Same guy who, with his cronies, held a protest outside the women's toilets in a shopping centre in Dundee and (as a pp said) who is such a liability that the Scottish Greens (hardly known for the high quality of their election candidates) deselected him from the list.

Scottish Greens deselect general election candidate over JK Rowling comments

Sophie Molly posted to X last year referring to the author as a “torn-face cow”

So:

  • All males beyond the age of let's say 10, excepting I guess some with learning difficulties, are aware of basic female boundaries. These boundaries include that males should not start unsolicited discussions about underwear with any female strangers, and especially young ones who are likely to be embarrassed and aren't well versed in telling said males to f* off.
  • Males also know that being a shop employee (in a different department of the shop) makes no difference.
  • Males also know that men are not employed to "help" women or girls choose underwear.
  • Males also know that men who do any of these things are doing so for their own benefit, i.e. fetish or harassment.

A question for the trans women on the thread - do any of you agree that what happened is not ok? If so, I haven't seen any such posts. You realise it looks like you're all in the pervert category, right?

Or do you genuinely not understand that this is a boundary for females?

This is a screenshot of a tweet from a male person declaring that a child must be a bigot if they were upset. And declares that it is creepy and wrong to safeguard a 14 year old girl.

And the tweeter of that statement wanted to be a candidate for an electorate in Scotland.

That post is really, really worrying especially this part

.. we're talking about a 14 year old girl who is fully responsible for her actions ..

This reads like the sort of reasoning that a pedophile would use to justify their abuse.

It does, doesn't it?

Much as the media are painting this as a left/right issue it’s really not. JK Rowling has always been left leaning, for example. I’m a lefty academic and I’m also TERF. These sorts of arguments obfuscate the real debate here, about whether it’s ok for a transgender woman to offer a service to a 14 year old in a lingerie department. And I’m going with no, it’s not. He should have understood that would not be welcome in the same way that if a man offered help in the same situation it would be weird and uncomfortable.

He is a man

This is why actual sexed words are important.

It smacks of the police response to the girls in Rotherham etc.

NeverOneBiscuit · 06/08/2025 17:41

So Lun82, you’re in alignment with Molly/Sophie Sparkles as regards whether it’s appropriate for a male to approach, unasked, a female child in the bra section. Right side of history, innit?

murasaki · 06/08/2025 17:43

They really don't realise they leave receipts all over the Internet, do they.

DuesToTheDirt · 06/08/2025 17:43

For you scolders who think we're transphobic, er no, I don't care either way if a transwoman shop assistant wants to advise me on wine, or household ornaments, or birthday cards. BUT NOT FUCKING UNDERWEAR! WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON?

Incidentally, I'd also find it well weird if a female shop assistant from another department approached me in the lingerie department and offered to help me with bras.

ThatBlackCat · 06/08/2025 17:43

Lun82 · 05/08/2025 22:51

This thread and the comments are disgusting. This poor employee did absolutely nothing wrong.

What is disgusting, is your ignorance, @Lun82 . It's disgusting to attempt to justify a MALE accosting a 14 year old girl, to talk about underwear. Anyone attempting to justify that has no idea of safeguarding or sexual predators.

  1. M&S have said he was not supposed to be working that section. So he shouldn't even have been there.
  2. M&S don't approach customers, it's a rule, so they are not allowed to ask if they need help - there is the clue he was in the wrong.
  3. Finally, he FLED when the mother came on the scene! He is a predator!

He did EVERYTHING wrong!

NeverOneBiscuit · 06/08/2025 17:44

I guess at least Sparkles doesn’t dress up his willingness to ignore women’s boundaries with faux confusion & naivety. We know he thinks women should just STFU so he can ‘exist’.

ThatBlackCat · 06/08/2025 17:45

Lun82 · 05/08/2025 22:54

What crime exactly is it is that they would be reporting?

Males approaching underage girls to talk to them about their underwear used to be a crime - I'm pretty sure!

At the very least, he's a filthy sexual predator!

RedToothBrush · 06/08/2025 17:45

And yes it was the one I was thinking of who dressed up like a school girl at Hogwarts.

It's all a bit Jimmy Saville

Lun82 · 05/08/2025 23:11

As far as I can from the thread, this employee asked a mum and her daughter if they needed any help. That's their job.

@Lun82 No, it is NOT their job. M&S aren't allowed to approach customers.

If you see nothing wrong with a MALE approaching young girls to talk about their underwear with them, there is something wrong with the wiring somewhere. I suppose you also think there is nothing wrong with girls accepting a ride from the man with the van sitting outside their school?

murasaki · 06/08/2025 17:49

You might be right there. Getting away with it while the evidence is clearly there.

ThatBlackCat · 06/08/2025 17:51

Lun82 · 05/08/2025 23:13

We don't know anything about the employee except a complaint from a customer. There is not proof that they were trans, they did nothing wrong. They asked a women and her daughter if they needed help,

Whether they were 'trans' or not, they were, a MALE.

It is VERY WRONG for a MALE to approach young girls and discuss their underwear with them. You really should not need this explained to you....

Rob Rinder displaying a great grasp of how teenage girls feel. Who the fuck even is he?

He's an ex-lawyer, now does TV. He is gay - maybe he's one of those gay men who don't give a damn about women.
