NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #42

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

It sounds like there was a group of them who whipped everything up to be so much more than even Dr Upon reflected on at the time.

They wound each other up in a purity spiral and were determined to 'get Sandie' somehow. The fact that everyone was informed of how they should feel by Kate Searle in an email BEFORE she even talked to Sandie speaks volumes.

NHS Fife has it's HR department saying 'no'. Whilst it's got this lot and Isla in DEI running around stirring the shit. They take 18 months to clear Sandie. No one seems to know their arse from their elbow. The doctors are treated like gods whilst the nurses are there to be shat on. And they think that it was appropriate to have supported Dr Upton in all this throughout. If they'd got off their arses and looked at this properly at the start, and what evidence they had this court case should never have seen the light of day.

Instead here we are. NHS Fife have become a laughing stock with medical staff saying sex is a nebulous dog whistle, they absolutely can tell that a man is a woman but they cant tell the sex of a baby born in their own A&E department or be sure of their own chromosomes.

Sack them. Sack the lot of them.

One for medics and HR people. If a doctor has been shown to tamper with notes/ evidence to make themselves appear more credible in any legal dispute arising, would that make it difficult for them to obtain insurance? How seriously would the GMC take interfering with evidence? I presume all doctors are expected to keep accurate, strictly factual contemporaneous notes to cover themselves if something goes wrong, as described by a Dr upthread? Would future employers be permitted to decline Dr Upton's offer of his services on the basis that he has already landed one health board deep in the slurry pit?

They need a coup. A damn good rooting out of corruption.

Just to add in that the use of exclamation marks is quite common by programmers. Special characters are used in all sorts of coding languages and so extend into normal written text as a form of short hand.

I can't believe these people have risked their reputations and careers just to try and take down a woman whose only 'crime' is that she didn't want to take her clothes off in front of a man in a women's changing room- a space he shouldn't even have been in.

I think she'd pared it down thinking time might be tight, realised that with a reasonably swift morning the available time means she can inrease her slot, and so said "yes" and is now cracking her knuckles.
