NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #23

nauticant · 02/03/2025 12:52

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It is planned that it will resume on 16 July and the last day of evidence will be 28 July and then there will be 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing will end on 30 July.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely was obtainable by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

However, as a result of problems with the livestreaming, apparently caused by a very large number of observers, remote public access to the hearing was suspended on Tuesday 11 February. It was suggested that it might be reinstated at some point but don't count on it.

The hearing is being live tweeted by https://x.com/tribunaltweets and there's additional information here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/peggie-vs-fife-health-board-and-dr. This also has threadreaderapp archives of live-tweeting of the sessions of the hearing for those who can't follow on Twitter, for example: archive.is/xkSxy.

@NotAGentleReminder also: so sorry to hear of this. May she find her way in this crazy world, hopefully back to you.

Thanks, I hope so too. Back to me would be lovely. More than anything though, I want her to come back to herself

@NotAGentleReminder YES - however much of a struggle it is to accept oneself (speaking from personal experience) we are all unique and wonderful as we are…

When I see these young adults who appear brainwashed, especially the young women who appear to have taken testosterone, and think of my trans-identifying daughter who has left our home, cut me off and not told me where she is, I feel very sad and afraid for her.

There are so many of us these days, mourning our lost children.

Absolutely, learning to know onesself and accept onesself is a key part of growing up, and takes longer for some of us than others, for various reasons. This toxic 'trans' ideology, and the enabling of it by intentional groomers, 'gender' zealots, well-meaning be-kinders, those browbeaten into going along with it, jobsworths and those scared of losing their jobs, not to mention our institutions of healthcare, education and law and what appears to be a wilful ignorance of online social contagion, can absolutely trash an adolescent's psychological development. And long-term physical health if medically and surgically enabled (permitted malpractice imo).

I'm sorry you and yours are going through this too. Hoping our children emerge from this madness safe and unscathed and can go on to live happily, healthily and fulfilled. Hoping also for the healing of our family relationships.

Kit's bio misgenders him! "Kit (he/him)... They..."

Or is it somehow magically not twansphobic if one of the sacred caste do the misgendering?

Dr Beth Upton, born a man,

The Mail are getting bolder and more forthright. Why shouldn't all media be equally clear?

KnottyAuty · 05/03/2025 22:54

Wow that all seems quite damning and seems to confirm the application to make KS the R3 has now officially gone in?

KnottyAuty · 05/03/2025 23:02

And more from the Courier… the journalists seem to be very unhappy not to have questions answered?! They’ve all been busy this afternoon

Very detailed legal analysis on the EA2010, EA2006, Codes of Practice by the EHRC and Case by Case assessments… in their opinion blanket policy on single sex spaces are acceptable under the EA as described here:

It's a few posts back now, sorry about that, I'm just catching up with this thread -
I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter, NotAGentleReminder, and I echo what other posters have said - I hope she find her way safely back to herself, and back to you.

It's not quite so wall-to-wall trans everything these days, and maybe just maybe some of the challenges that are becoming more common will find their way into your DD's consciousness..

Sending love and strength to you, and to your daughter.

tampering or loss of evidence

Ah, but that's the beauty of Scottish hate incidents. No evidence required, surely? Just report that you were offended and they write it down in their little book. They said they would investigate every hate crime, but made no such promise about incidents. These aren't recorded agains the offender, so presumably aren't investigated or prosecuted - but by reporting and recording, Something Has Been Done.

Or possibly not, if the reporting centre doesn't know it's a reporting centre.

In 2021, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland found there were 242 centres registered, although in many cases inspectors "found they had either closed, had moved, or staff did not know they were meant to be providing this function".
