FFS. What is different now? It's not as if they weren't told over and over again what the consequences would be. 🙄

Thats not a part of the tribunal at all.

I know it isn't.
It's a question I'd like to know thw answer to though.

Bastards. I'm not gonna thank a bunch of spineless c u next Tuesdays for finally, at the bloody last minute, admitting they were talking utter shite.

I want their heads on stakes (photos of the guilty, not their real heads, I'm no an animal, unlike them) all along North Bridge and down the Royal Mile.

Genius let’s do it

Can someone explain what Pam Duncan Glancy has done? I think she's doing an okay job as shadow scottish education secretary

Jist a note that whilst Labour have their own shadow cabinet, it is the conservatives who are the second biggest party.

I quite like Jackie Baillie, she's my MSP and has mostly been good and helpful with a few issues I've had. She's been good at standing up to Sturgeon too (although Ruth Davidson was best at that).

Cannot abide Anas Sarwar though and the poster who quite fancies him - I really hope you are joking. He's a weasel.

I didn't know the Scottish Labour Conference was this weekend. That will be interesting. Wonder what the mood will be there. I expect a few protesters...

PDG has been very firmly TWAW all the way through the GRR Bill and beyond.

'For the avoidance of doubt. Trans women are women, trans men are men. Trans rights are human rights. For as long as I’m an MSP, equality means equality, for everyone, without exception.'

Anyone know if BBC Scotland have covered this yet? I’m getting increasingly annoyed at the omission of any coverage of this saga. I read that hundreds of thousands of people have recently cancelled their licenses. What is the point of supporting an ‘independent’ trusted public broadcaster with strict rules on impartiality if it is no longer trusted or impartial?

Which is why the BBC keep trying to angle to get funding from taxes instead.

DuesToTheDirt · 18/02/2025 20:10

SionnachRuadh · 18/02/2025 16:58

In his best Captain Renault voice, Anas Sarwar is shocked, shocked, to discover that dodgy men take advantage of loopholes to access women's spaces.

I'll take it, but I'd still like to have a few moments with Anas to ask him what the actual fuck he was thinking.

The only plausible explanation is that the people who voted for the GRR were either malicious misogynists or halfwits.

Don’t know re TV and radio, but there’s now an article on the BBC website (Scotland news).

AnneKipankitoo · 18/02/2025 20:11

Yup. I wrote to all my MSPs . I did have some support but half of them said my concerns were invalid, blah , blah.

Helleofabore · 18/02/2025 20:11

How many times can we say it? Maybe if they weren’t part of the ‘special’ group working for the praise shining down from the activists who were celebrated at the time, they might have listened. But I doubt it. It took the latest polling, once Labour had put their toe in the water, to give these pollies the newly found conviction.

What a fucking waste. What a fucking mess!!!

She was on the equalities committee during the GRR Bill and a driver (if not the driver) of Labour’s stance . She treated many of us appallingly and dismissed all concerns.

I just want to share a pic of the map of the current petition to repeal the GRA.

Scottish women have bloody had it with the nonsense.

An article in the Spectator on Labour's volte face farce

https://archive.ph/OxwPN

This bit

Yet that clatter you hear is the sound of jaws dropping violently at the audacity. Shock at this astonishing volte face by Sarwar will be most keenly felt by two of his MSPs, Claire Baker and Carol Mochan, who were forced to resign their frontbench posts in the Scottish parliament when they declined to support the Gender Recognition Reform Bill.

As inded they had in 2022/23!

Nice to see they've peaked. Or at the very least, realised that this issue is political napalm.

I know this isn't the point of you showing that map @ArabellaScott but im actually curious about the tiny yellow bit in Scotland which is (I think) Aberdeenshire? Is that near Elgin/Fraser burgh/lossiemouth? Are there a lot of people there who support it? Or just don't know yet not to want to vote to repeal? It just stuck out compared to all the other red and dark red bits.

Tiny yellow bit? Elgin/Lossie/Fraserburgh are all dark red or red and pretty far apart?

Washinghanginginthesun · 18/02/2025 21:06

North Aberdeen is orange. And further south there is a tiny white bit that is Montrose basin

Aberdeenshire North/Moray East - yes, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Cullen, Buckie. Small towns involved largely in fishing, as a sweeping generalisation.

The numbers of signatures overall are so far relatively small, so it's a difference of a few dozen, I'd say! 20 signatories as opposed to maybe 80 in another constituency.

BUT! It just hit 10,000! In under a week. So it should be debated.

If you're looking at the map Iwanttoretire posted, that's an older petition. The numbers are very different (and boundaries have changed!).

PDG's speech on the GRR Bill.

ArabellaScott · 18/02/2025 21:19

Evidence session from an anonymous person during the consultation of the GRR Bill. The anonymous person (I assume a woman) was discussing the needs of BME women for single sex spaces:

'An option of an enclosed, gender neutral toilet would be great.'

Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP: 'where would a trans woman go if she didn’t want to
use a gender neutral toilet because she was worried she may out herself?'
