NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board - thread #2

nauticant · 04/02/2025 11:37

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks.

SP talking about situation where she said to manager she was
Going to have to speak to Beth (presumably as Esther hasn't been able to solve issue) Esther didn't say anything in response to SP saying she'd talk to Beth herself.

Missed bits but judge now asking about 24/25th December incident

Wow this thread is in trending again

Does a hairdryer have to be pink to be classed as a woman's? Mine is black. Is it male, or does it just identify as male?

Which just goes to show how stupid this gender nonsense is.

Mine is blue. Clearly male.

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:53

Judge asking when SP was aware that Fife had given Beth permission to be in the women's.

Gave??date and answered because he was in there.

Signalbox · 05/02/2025 10:53

I wonder if the Defence will cross-examine MF. There was another case where they didn't cross examine the claimant's expert presumably because they knew it would go very badly for them. Can anyone remember which case?

I'm hoping for some iconic one liners from SP, like: I'm less transphobic, more ' couldn't give a shit'

... and a seething 'you can't handle the truth'

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 05/02/2025 10:54

Roxanne Tickle's barrister argued with every fibre of her being to ensure Helen Joyce couldn't give evidence for Sal Grover.

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:55

SP telling judge about what she saw when she went in to changing rooms I presume on the 24/25th December date ? The one where Beth was coming out of the toilet

Going to have to speak to Beth (presumably as Esther hasn't been able to solve issue) Esther didn't say anything in response to SP saying she'd talk to Beth herself.

Thatcomes across to me as someone who genuinely thinks they can change Beth's mind. Which is consistent with Sandie's testimony

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:56

Judge asking SP to tell him exactly what happened using the photographs of the changing room as an aid.

legalimmigrant · 05/02/2025 10:56

I'm getting tired of this witch trial and a some Judge getting to decide whether or not women are allowed basic human rights.

Are women allowed single sex spaces that don't include male bodies or not? It's pretty simple.

OBVIOUSLY she won't be the only one who objects, it's just every other woman is too scared to - not surprisingly since she was suspended and is being put through this living hell of abuse where her very perceptions are questioned (as in coercive control).

It would be reasonable to assume every woman with a religion that involves sex segregation would object. And every woman who has been traumatised by male violence. And many women who have significant flooding during their periods won't be that happy dealing with it in the presence of males. So if you have 'gender based' changing rooms, you're excluding all of them unless you have single sex also. Not inclusive for it just to be gender based.

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:57

We are down to pointing out exactly where everyone was positioned.

ILikeDungs · 05/02/2025 10:57

Wasn't all of this covered thoroughly and slowly, yesterday?

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:58

None of this should matter.

There was a man in the woman's changing room. I don't give a flying fuck where he was in the room

Yep! Obviously not sufficiently clearly enough for the judge!

No wonder they needed 10 days

Bannedontherun · 05/02/2025 10:59

I think judge wants to be sure of sp perspective before hearing du

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 10:59

Up to Fiona and the doctor leaving together, and Dr Upton was washing his hands.

Scout2016 · 05/02/2025 10:59

No one is disputing Upton and Sandie were in the changing room together. Why does it matter who was stood where? Sandie isn't arguing he was right up next to her, and he isn't arguing he was shielding himself in a corner in fear / modesty... So why does it matter?

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/02/2025 10:59

This feels like a full re-run of the questions last two days, not just clarification of unclear points?

It makes more sense now why the pane decided to not continue last night even though NC said she's prefer to so SP could be dismissed.

ickky · 05/02/2025 11:01

I think it matters because DU asserted that SP was blocking his exit from the CR.

Feelingathomenow · 05/02/2025 11:01

How the fuck have we got to the point where valuable NHS resources are being used to defend the position that being a woman is a matter of mind not biology. How are you supposed to trust any doctor who doesn’t know the difference between a man and woman

This I think is the issue. Even this tribunal will not give us certainty. We need absolute clarity that a biological male is not allowed in female toilets/changing rooms or single provision. We need clear legal rights. Never in 2025 did I think we would be having this discussion.

Boiledbeetle · 05/02/2025 11:02

Up to DU getting undressed.judge: that means Dr Upton had to walk from the sinks to the middle of the room which meant Dr upton had to walk past you.

SP yes.

Judge getting her to state EXACTLY every detail.
