The Bluestocking: where conversation should supersede cards

The Blue Stockings Society was founded by women emphasising education and mutual cooperation. Men could attend as invited guests, but in this Women's Pub, they are only welcome to peer enviously through the windows.

All women welcome!

All tastes catered for.

All food containing calories will not increase waistlines.

All drink containing alcohol will not intoxicate beyond the mildy merry and slightly inhibited stage. Guaranteed no hangovers.

Don't mind the gerbils, hamster, capybaras, quokkas and other assorted rodents. They're all female, all staff and very accommodating...

Thank you @MyrtleLion that's cheered me and my hostile environment up no end!

ETA although if the ones on the top left start removing clothes or sitting on my knee I'm out of here

Britinme · 11/02/2025 18:42

I love the dancing gerbils!

How many fingers am I holding up?

You're a beetle. You don't have fingers.

Hello from Ireland! That's some glasses you've got, Fuzzy!😄

Marie, you look just like a lovely red something from Sesame Street!

Boiledbeetle · 11/02/2025 19:08

Animals! Those bloody dancing gerbils are animals! I'm not safe here!!!!

Mine too, but I couldn't think of the term and didn't want to describe it.

And I didn't want to ask the AI for it & then try to put it on MN. I could hear the rozzers already.

They're here!

I want a cancan dress! But in colours to match today's nails i.e. shell-like pale pink/white flashing pale blue-green, with subtle blue sparkly bits. That should be easy enough for the gerbils to run up... Yep, that'll do nicely.

PS Get welly soon.

Oooh pretty!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 11/02/2025 19:49

Ooh-er Missus! Mine is but a pale, though iridescent, shadow of yours.

I'm hoping to englitzen it a bit later, though, with turquoisey microflakies.

Magpiecomplex · 11/02/2025 19:53

Turquoisey microflakies sound great! Also sounds like a band name Grin

Coming right up! They've been rehearsing for hours and want to know which outfits you prefer.

Alas wouldn't put the name in, but the auditions are going well!

Does anyone else read the AI misspellings in the voice of Nigella Lawson?

Egg? With a smidge of salad cream if a proper serving of mayonnaise would have too much fat in it for you.

Hm, I suppose I could do a quick scramble (cant be doing with waiting to hard boil one egg and shell it when we're wanting to go out). I tend not to think of eggs as much as I should because DH is hypersensitive to their freshness ... I should remind him to buy them for me. I like one poached in beans or a tomatoey soup.

Just keep four hard boiled eggs in a sealed box in the fridge.

Your DH doesn't need to eat any not-just-cooked ones.

They make a great snack, and contain all sorts of valuable vitamins and minerals, according to Google.

When I was at school, on the days I didn't get the bus I used to eat a shelled one in the car for breakfast.
