The “women’s march” that’s all about the men.

I couldn’t see a thread about this, but I’m just here to share how annoying it is to see a so-called women’s march so concerned with placating men. This is the march in January.

As well as the highly predictable “this is for all women” (meaning including the ones who are men) and the ‘we don’t tolerate transphobia’ (meaning any concept of sex-based oppression), the Facebook group is full of posts reassuring men that of course they’re welcome and it’s not all men and obviously “not my Nigel”. It’s infuriating. Why do people do this?

Someone posted a picture of a book by Yvette Cooper and a badge in suffragette colours (a present from her daughter). Pretty much every comment is telling her off and wanging on about 'transwomen '. This group has not changed.

You have a screenshot?

Projectme · 26/12/2024 22:04

This one. The comments are posters bickering amongst themselves...'yeah but she didn't write the book tho'...'she's just a journalist...'

And apparently the suffragette colours have been misused by transgender exclusionary 'feminists' because apparently its the colours for the genderqueer flag. 🙄😑😑

The group aren't happy she is in it because of her stance on sex and gender?

@TigerLily40

Their ignorance knows no bounds and I will highlight this to the group lead again. I didn't always agree with Thatchers politics but what she done as a working class born woman in the male dominated world of politics was amazing and she pushed feminism into the spotlight. If I were in that group still, I would lose my shit.

TigerLily40 · 26/12/2024 23:35

And of course referring to anyone with opposite views as a transphobe.

Sparklybutold · 27/12/2024 09:17

And their inherent responsibility to 'educate people'.

INeedAPensieve · 27/12/2024 10:05

Jesus just returning to this thread and it's got worse and worse! Good luck raising this @TigerLily40 I hope this gets taken seriously. I'm particularly shocked at a small charity who help women and children escape domestic violence etc being banned because they practice a single sex service (which is legal and written into the Equality act) to support women. The charity still signpost transwomen to another LGBT support charity, which is the right thing to do. This is not hateful in any way, it's actually far more than what happened the other way round with Edinburgh rape crisis centre, which refused to signpost women who needed single sex care to beira's place, accused all traumatised rape survivors who wanted that as hateful bigots and have subsequently been found to have discriminated against an employee and rightly criticised by an independent review.

It's just shocking to me. This is so anti women and children. Reasonable adjustments have been put in place by that small charity. Still not good enough for that lot apparently. Instead they are happy to invite along a man who shouted fuck you at FGM survivors and rape survivors at a feminist conference in Glasgow. Awful, awful people. And a lot of them are women! Betrayers of their own sex class to pander to men and men's feelings. It's so obviously a hateful, misogynistic ideology which has poisoned a women's march. Ugh.

I've been a young woman taken in by all that libfem shit. It's only looking back that it is obvious what a con job was pulled on us.

Liberate yourself by stripping, sex work, pole dancing, and self.objectification? How curious that womens liberation looks exactly like men's sexual fantasies.

They allow just enough room for a pretence of bravery - wear a t shirt with a swear on it, say 'fuck the terfs'.

The terfs were never the ones attacking women, abusing women, or using women.

They were the ones trying to sound the alarm.

But the libfem story is that women disagreeing are worse than the incel men who are actually posing a threat to women and girls.

Have only read up to this post so far (apologies if the thread has moved on since), but it reminded me of this book. While I don't agree with all of the author's conclusions or suggested solutions, the book is thoroughly researched, and she makes some excellent points around this issue and argues them extremely well.

Absolutely bang on Arabella

And their inherent responsibility to 'educate people'.

Yes that really does annoy me. I don't need "educated" and made to change my mind. Some of the points I raised, well let's say it's a hill I will die on.

FlowchartRequired · 27/12/2024 12:14

In this context, does educate mean 'shame people who disagree into not speaking their opinion' or 'brainwash them'?

I don't think anyone needs to organise to 'wreck' this march, tbh. They look perfectly capable of doing it all by themselves.

Racism now 🤣

Absolute nutcase.

Men are not women!

They don't seem to have grasped that making women afraid of commenting, or even liking posts, because they know they'll get blocked and kicked out, isn't the same as being the majority.

Exactly. It's "no debate" and silencing women's voices and concerns circa 2020.

That comment that was screenshot sounds like they are singing from Nicola sturgeon's hymn book with the "racist bigot" comment. Look how well that turned out for our ex FM up here.

WhoPutTheBomp · 27/12/2024 13:32

I'm not wanting to wreck their march, either, goodness me, no.

If any of the march group people are reading this, have a think about why telling the group you want to punch a woman who disagrees with you is a really bad thought to voice when you are intending to march against violence against women! Are you REALLY marching for all women? Ask yourself why those women but not THOSE women.

Don't get me started on Sturgeon. She is a far left crook who got caught out with lies and deceit. She too accused people of being bigots if they disagreed with her, she actually put a trans rapist in a bloody women's prison!

TigerLily40 · 27/12/2024 13:43

Well my response to their lead. Wonder what the response will be but I am just going to contact the press contact I made before Christmas at the advice of the FSU and maybe go ahead with the discrimination story.

They certainly have managed that on their own. They are a joke over social media especially on X / Twitter. They aren't smart enough to realise they are feeding the patriarchy by shitting on women's rights for trans rights.

I really want to know how we are bigots and racists??? I want to see examples of this.
