The “women’s march” that’s all about the men.

I couldn’t see a thread about this, but I’m just here to share how annoying it is to see a so-called women’s march so concerned with placating men. This is the march in January.

As well as the highly predictable “this is for all women” (meaning including the ones who are men) and the ‘we don’t tolerate transphobia’ (meaning any concept of sex-based oppression), the Facebook group is full of posts reassuring men that of course they’re welcome and it’s not all men and obviously “not my Nigel”. It’s infuriating. Why do people do this?

Women need change, we need MVAWG to be addressed.

Jeering at women on Mumsnet is not going to do that.

And what is this 'we are the majority' shit - are they anti minorities, now?

What a waste of everyone's time and energy.

@TigerLily40 do you have the contact details for the central person you're liasing with? I wonder whether more people contacting her would help get the message through that there are lots of women who are being silenced and chucked out of their own group!

I have emailed a couple more politicians and have notified them about Glasgow inviting that hate group along with notifying the police.
I have received an invite to attend a council committee meeting for one of the objections I put through. I know the group read this page and I couldn't care.
I am currently awaiting a response from one of their leads about the recent developments and awaiting her response regarding my request for them to put up a statement about the points I raised.
The press have been contacted but I am awaiting her response before I proceed with them. I do hope we can move forward without making this all public for them but as time moves on and the group seems as oppressive as ever, it unfortunately seems unlikely.

I do have a couple of other things up my sleeve that I won't share on here of course as previously mentioned, they read this.

Yes, talk about rewriting history! They really are a gang of deluded, lying bullies, aren't they? They must think that most people are as dim witted and ignorant of the facts as they are. Petty dictators, excluding and calumniating anyone who doesn't kowtow to their alternative reality.

Well, I wonder if, when they read this thread, it gives the nasty bullies pause for thought? Probably not, they'll be the usual pissed on their own sense of rectitude zealots. They'd happily herd you off a cliff at gunpoint and sleep well, imagining that they'd done a good deed.

If all this has caused the pause then we will be at fault, they certainly won't take responsibility

Silencing dissent and banning all questions is not a productive strategy, longterm.

You can control a closed group to an extent, but authoritarian and censorious approaches like this end up in purity spirals and eventual collapse.

How can they ever be sure they've rooted out all the wrong thinkers? What if there are 'terfs' or 'Karens' or 'boomers' still among their numbers?

A healthier approach is to foster open discussion and even disagreement. Thats how you stand a chance of instigating real change.

Exactly, like they aren't encouraging discussion and not encouraging free thinking. Imagine trying to control what someone reads, I really hated comparing it to what the Nazi's did to the Germans but it is what they done. Controlling thought and promoting propaganda through controlling what people read etc....I was really shocked and disappointed to see that they were doing that.

I do see this march collapsing, primarily due to poor organisation and this behaviour. I am so relieved I saw the light when I did.

Well I have been left on read by the lead of the group so wonder if a lot is going on or she's just not replying to messages over the festive period?

I agree, what an excellent point; it would be very good, if they'd come for a factual, reasoned debate.

I think the one who said they'd like to "belt terfs" would not be able to engage in factual, reasoned debate sadly.

Unfathomable that this is someone involved in a women's march to protest about VAWG. Can they not hear themselves???
