I've come in to have a gin and to ponder over Meghan Markle calling the LA Children's Hospital "otherworldly" - that's such an odd word to use. What did she mean?!

"Otherworldly"? She hasn't been here, she knows nothing!

Chipmunk with levitating tray. That's new for the Bluestocking.

I can hear @AlisonDonut searching for her boots.... Watch out!

I've already been out in them to assess the damage from last night's storm [one large branch down and polytunnel fully intact]. So nice to still have dry feet!

Wrenched them off Boily's little feet then? She was dancing around in them earlier.

I'm glad your polytunnel survived.

Sounds like a good idea. The quokkas painted the door red overnight.

And I'm suitably dressed!

I forgot about wearing red today, but I'm not going anywhere, so I'll wear red the next time I'm going to be out and about.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't get any major damage from the storm, @AlisonDonut. It is actually sunny here today, which is pretty unusual for us this year.

lcakethereforeIam · 10/10/2024 12:53

Happy RedXX day. Love the T-shirt, name and colour scheme.

Call that a storm?

We've had the highest winds in the entire solar system here!

I know!

My BIL and family are in Florida right by Cocoa Beach. So we are awaiting news of their safety at the moment.

I do hope they're safe and not too badly affected

But I was referring to the BBC weather app glitch, which you might not know about in France, of course.

It's been the subject of some very funny comments on MN.

It's very embarrassing, though, for the BBC and its weather data provider DTN, especially at a time when so many people are so badly affected by a real hurricane.

Happy RedXX Day! Just been out wearing red with red nails & a red bag (& a patterned skirt with red in it, so as not to overdo it 😁). I made an 'X' finger
salute, but only to myself at home.

Didn't root out my red shoes, either, though now I'm at the Redstocking I'll get a pair of red wellies out of the Red Welly Cupboard in the armoury corridor. There's plenty in there for everyone.

Hope everyone's OK in Florida. I have rellies in Orlando, but we haven't spoken for years, so no idea if they're OK.

I love the Red Welly Cupboard.

Hope everyone is ok today, wherever they are.

Chersfrozenface · 10/10/2024 14:13

Don't we also need a raincoat cupboard?

I used to wear a yellow workman's raincoat back in the 80s, long before bloody Joules and blasted Keeping Faith. Harumph!

So, navy for me, if that can be arranged.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/10/2024 14:18

@Chersfrozenface Well, I'll ask the AI, but given the trouble it had with the boot cupboard...

Numbers 2 and 3 look great.

I might even venture out to the animal paddocks in my wellies and raincoat.

Are the pockets large enough for a goodly number of apples?

I'd ask whether they're goat proof, but pretty much nothing is, so I won't waste my breath.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 10/10/2024 14:36

The pockets are big enough for ANYTHING! This is the Redstocking, remember?

I finally listened to Lucy W while ironing yesterday, & it was about a team of female shoplifters who wore special bloomers with big pockets. They could fold & roll even fur coats till they were tiny, to get them out of the shop!

I've just remembered poachers' pockets.

And those coats with multiple pockets that people buy to get round budget airlines' luggage restrictions.

Your be amazed what someone can fit in their pockets when no one is looking!

Couldn't go out so didn't get a chance to flaunt the one piece of red in my wardrobe😞but Aphrodite here kindly offered to wear it☺

I brought nothing red with me on holiday but it was properly sunny today at last so I expect my face has been an appropriate hue today.

This morning DH checked what the weather would be like on Sunday - not sure which app but not the bbc - and announced it was predicted force 12 so we wouldn't be flying home as planned.

Ours have checked in. We had a hurricane when we visited years ago, we knew it was bad when they closed the macdonalds which seemed to be the one thing that people used as gauge to how serious the weather might be.

I'd never seen trees at 45° until then. It was pretty mental.

Magpiecomplex · 10/10/2024 17:43

Seeing as how I'm well 'ard, me, are any of those red wellies steel toes? Otherwise I shall have to respectfully decline. My existing ones do have red soles, so they could be argued to be in the spirit of the thing.
