Better gilded than gelded, @inkymoose

Also (pedant alert) isn't the plural of moose, er, moose?

Or is it different in the Bluestocking?

DeanElderberry · 08/10/2024 09:21

You are probably correct. It not a plural form I need to use on a regular basis.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/10/2024 09:33

I love a bit of pedantry.

Horrifying scenes in Aviemore, where wild haggis broke into a shop, and stole the Tunnock's teacakes.

To be fair if they have managed to avoid getting culled during the haggis hunting season, and got off the hill with their uneven legs then personally I feel they deserve the Tunnock's as a reward for their perseverance and tenacity!

FuzzyPuffling · 08/10/2024 10:18

Those haggis look remarkably like quokka. Are they related?
Or are the quokkas just blaming it on the haggis?

FuzzyPuffling · 08/10/2024 08:00

The quokkas have been practising their Morris dancing ( cultural disconnect?) and would love to do a turn in the stable yard.

I've tried explaining morris dancing to CP before. He didn't know what I was talking about.

Humble apologies, Android. It's late and I have had too much Bluestocking Sloe Gin with Crisps. But Copilot's gone all app-ified. It's nasty. Would only put 2 mooses in a picture after several total dud pics. No edits offered like there were before (watercolour/steam punk/art deco etc). 3-winged bird unasked for. Any suggestions?

I get tons of duff pictures & sometimes have to give up completely. I don't bother with the editor thingy - if you want a style you can just put it in the description, e.g. art deco or bas relief or photorealism. Some things work better than others.

Well, I declare!!

This one of those songs earworms that's banned in our house - DH will give me a line from it to taunt me & the proper response is a warning pointy finger & a "DON'T YOU DARE!".😂

Another one is the Captain Pugwash theme tune.

Damn, I forgot this in that thread about the weird things couples say & do.

We deffo need a plural of moose that isn't moose.
Think of the poor gerbils - if they are told 'This tray of Tunnock-based cocktails is for the moose', how are they to know if it is intended for AgileGold, who has ordered drinks for all of her new-found chums < thank you, jolly kind, don't mind if I do> or all for Inky who is drowning her sorrows because she is no longer the only moose in the village, OR is intended for both Inky and AgileGold who by now have bonded and are drinking to being new best <hic> friends.

A Bluestocking plural is definitely needed. I suggest 'moosen'.

During Italia 90 - a big big deal in Ireland, so lots of TV and radio coverage using Nessun Dorma as the theme - my family back home had a 'Nessun Dorma' box, like a swear box, and anyone caught even humming a few notes of it to themselves had to put money inGrin

Mooseseses? Moosae?

FuzzyPuffling · 08/10/2024 10:55

Maximoose?

Mice. That won't be confusing at all.

'The moose or elk (Alces alces) is the world's tallest, largest and heaviest extant species of deer and the only species in the genus Alces.'

I'm not sure Alces alces really helps in the search for non-confusing terminology.

Moosen?
Like 'children'?
Do we also go for 'deeren' and 'sheepen'?

I think it should be 'Meese':
Moose=> meese
Goose=> geese

True, but it might be a comfort to inkymoose to know that although she is no longer the only moose in the village, she is still 'the only species in the genus Alces'. Smile

Maybe if Inky and Golden are different sexes, we could have little mooselets?

DeanElderberry · 08/10/2024 11:36

Although moosen are elks, Irish elks were not moosen, but giant deer Megaloceros giganteus. A cursorial species with fat black humps that maintained sex segregation during at least some parts of the year.

And big.
