I disagree with lots of people on various things. I've never thought "I'd rather hear s/he is dead"

I know the death threats are despicable, but honestly the lies and delusion are something else

JKR is back on twitter today, retweeting about the Giggle case and tweeting about the Khelif case - definitely not scared off. No past tweets deleted, as far as I can see, no matter what the TRAs would like to think. I presume she has just been on holiday.

I saw something on facebook calling for everyone to unfollow pink news because of their transphobia! They've surely not come out in defence of JKR?

Never! No, a whistleblower within PrickNews put out a recording of Cohen talking about PrickNews, and it hasn't gone down well at all.

I read that as meaning that advertisers are wishing to access the 'Pink Pound' - the allegedly greater disposable income of gay men - and have cottoned on that the trans-identified are either poor or saving up for surgery or otherwise not a profitable niche to be advertising to - so Cohen is under some pressure to make PrickNews appeal more to gay men and less to the trans-identified.

Naturally the trans-identified are outraged, hence the calls to unfollow.

I'm not sure what tickles me more from that recording - Cohen's belief that PrickNews is "an entertainment content powerhouse", or that he equates serving the trans-identified readers as charitable work.

I hazzard a guess that a large percentage of her trolls are American, and all that entails.
We are definitely dumbing down as a species at an alarming rate. Look beyond just our education systems, to our diet and the poisons in the air soil and water. If our brains are clogged with microplastics, our blood our guts, and we are under assault from forever chemicals, how can anything work properly.

In the 70s and 80s we finally recognised what lead was doing to our brains and nervous systems after millenia.
We are an unthinking species for all our smarts.
This insanity is all of a whole.
If we compartementalise we will never get to the root of any social ill. And that includes violence.

A very rich and therefore quite powerful woman who won't bow down to aggressive males and their allies.

Even worse than the 'witches' of the 1600s, or the 'dungaree-wearing lesbians' of the 80s or the hysterical suffragettes (who in some cases were also wealthy enough to be tricky to deal with).
It's OK to have rich powerful men (and there is clear evidence is there not that much of this TR activism is bankrolled by rich men), not quite so OK when it's rich powerful women.

How do you figure that she is "rather obsessed with people who are either trans or don't meet her criteria of what a woman should be"? From what I have seen, I think it could possibly be reasonable to say that she is "rather obsessed with" the rights and needs of women, and that this sometimes leads to her making comments that may seem non-pandering unsympathetic from non-women-centered perspectives. I say tough; how many times do we normalize men and handmaidens being obsessively male-centered?

No idea re the nameless "football manager", but Imane Khelif is absolutely a legitimate (and huge) subject of discussion right now. If Rowling has been pointing out the negative impact to women of allowing men to participate in the specific sporting events that are reserved for women (BECAUSE women needed and fought for and gained the right to women-only events), then hell yeah it makes perfect sense that she tweets that. And the fact that tabloids retweet it isn't a negative (from a feminist perspective, mind - because this is a feminist board).

I vehemently disagree with the feelings in those tweets. JKR is a fucking saint. But it says 'wish he was hearing' I think he's entitled to feel that way no matter how delusional we think he is. The tone is there but he doesn't actually threaten to kill her. I really don't like policing anyone's speech, I don't think that's something good at all. So I think we should allow people to speak that way even if we personally and all the good people we know wouldn't speak that way no matter how much we dislike a person.

It seems very clever to accuse her of deleting tweets? Because of this big thing where no one can find where she was transphobic, I think there is prize money unclaimed? Now an uninformed person will think the actual offensive tweets have been deleted but the tone of JKR twitterX is clearly woman's right (and therefore anti transgender rights) so it must be true shes transphobic evil witch who needs to be burnt

I don't agree with you. I don't think that being determined is the same as being obsessed. Her position is very clear, and has been transparently outlined in the essay she wrote four years ago about why she was doing this. It's still there on her website and you can read it for yourself, which you should do if you really want to understand her. And especially if you genuinely want to play a more productive role in the discussions on this site.

I know right! She just spent TWO WHOLE WEEKS obsessively ignoring them! And enjoying herself whilst doing it! What a bigot! What a transphobe. I heard twelve trans women died because of the lack of attention* And it's all JK's fault!

*This statement is a lie JKR has actually harmed zero transwomen.

Khelif is taking action because of harassment on SM. JKR receives abuse and death threats and Khelif's supporters (and TRAs) are OK with that, obviously. You couldn't make it up.
