Just saw this on threads. How is it ok. To wish someone dead? How is that being on "the right side of history"?
I disagree with lots of people on various things. I've never thought "I'd rather hear s/he is dead"

If vocal and powerful people hadn't started pushing back and holding the movement to account imagine what the Olympics would have looked like. It would have been the be kind Olympics with lots of brave trans women clutching their medals. Brave lia Thomas being heralded as the female answer to Michael Phelps

Bluemincat · 24/08/2024 08:12

She's the baddie because she tells the truth. And TRAs don't want the truth out there.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 24/08/2024 08:16

Where is DADjoke when the call arises?

RufustheFactualReindeer · 24/08/2024 08:16

Not long ago she was obsessed with a trans football manager (who had done nothing wrong except exist), now she's obsessed with Imane Khelif

you’re obsessed with JKR mate, pot, kettle and all that

RufustheFactualReindeer · 24/08/2024 08:18

And i think she’s probably obsessed with womens rights 🤔

BaileySharp · 24/08/2024 08:22

The unhinged reaction to JK Rowling is what opened my eyes to the madness of gender ideology. Nothing she's done deserves the hare and death threats she got. I didn't think too much about trans people before this other than feeling the few trans people seemed to subscribe to stereotypes more than other people.

When I saw the reaction JKR was getting I looked into it more and found this board and now see how awful the whole thing is

CountZacular · 24/08/2024 08:25

JKR is a baddie because she couldn’t be cowed. TRAs have done pretty well at getting any dissenter to back away with their tails between their legs and issue a grovelling apology for holding any opinion that asserts biological sex is real and matters.

Enter JKR. She didn’t back down, instead she eloquently and carefully explained why she felt the way she did. But too late for the TRAs, she didn’t apologise and worst still, they couldn’t take everything from her as punishment for her saying no.

Nobody on this thread is particularly surprised by this. We all know that a woman having an opinion men don’t like is far, far worse than actual crimes men commit (you only need to look at the situations when TW do murder or rape and they’ll be posters telling women they are pure evil for not obeying the pronouns of said TW).

But JKR is public enemy number one because the more they tried to rip her to shreds, the more steadfast she’s become. And there’s nothing more enraging to these men than women they can’t force to submit to their will.

I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of calling her a "baddie", but she does seem rather obsessed with people who are either trans or don't meet her criteria of what a woman should be.

Not long ago she was obsessed with a trans football manager (who had done nothing wrong except exist), now she's obsessed with Imane Khelif.

a billionaire with 14M followers on twitter and almost everything she tweets is repeated by the tabloids, and this is what she chooses to use it for?

I would usually say "not my prob, go ahead" other than she could be putting trans women and other women at risk of harm with her tweets.

btw where is her chum Bindel? Or is there a game going on where people go quiet from twitter so everyone guesses where they are?

When she doesn’t reply for a couple of weeks because she’s on holiday it’s because she’s running scared but then when she does post she’s obsessed. She can’t win so there’s no point her even attempting to play the game. She’ll post as she wants - and this IS a case that needs highlighting. Putting men in women’s sports is putting women at direct harm.

And the football manager you mentioned - was that not the same man who’d been trying to harass her long before she commented about him?

Bluemincat · 24/08/2024 08:47

I hadn't even noticed that she was away/hadn't posted. Yet somehow the TRAs who accuse HER of being obsessed are watching her every move and notice when she hasn't posted on Twitter and are gleefully making up horrible reasons why she hasn't posted. Such hypocrisy!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/08/2024 08:58

Mate, she wouldn’t notice whether you called her a baddie or not.

SerendipityJane · 24/08/2024 09:17

The truth its that being "the baddie" has made JKR much more famous and rich than if the TRAs had shut the fuck up. And that's the bit they really can't stomach.

Imagine being so fucking stupid that you empower your supposed "enemy". Because TRAs haven't (once again demonstrating that imagination is a function of intelligence).

Also JKRs work has become as embedded with childhood as Alice in Wonderland. Which must really sting, What culture defining literature have TRAs ever come out with ?

Buace · 24/08/2024 09:43

Can you expand on the mechanics of that statement@SerendipityJane

The existence of this thread for a start ... and then JKRs name appearing not just in the literary supplements, but the actual real news. Can't be bad for sales (not that I am suggesting it's the reason, which is what makes it even more delicious).

I'm probably wrong, as usual. But I don't see why that should stop me 😀

RainWithSunnySpells · 24/08/2024 10:18

Can someone explain to me why so many TRAs appear to think that Imane Khelif is going to be awarded the rights to Harry Potter (I assume that they think this could be a result of IK's French legal action, somehow)?

All I can come up with is a bizarre fever dream or wishful thinking.

TWETMIRF · 24/08/2024 10:28

If you can believe a penis person is a woman then you can believe any old shit

JeremiahBullfrog · 24/08/2024 10:36

JKR is potentially in trouble for calling a person "male" on the basis of reasonable evidence and saying that person was "smirking". This makes her a horrible bully.

JKR's detractors are frantically expressing their hope that she go to jail, going on and on with a bizarre story about her being driven mad by mould, inventing positions she clearly doesn't actually hold, implying she's a hypocrite for wearing makeup, suggesting she's a racist, calling her a bitch and a bigot (most of this drawn just from looking through the current "top tweets" on a search for "Rowling", where hardly anyone seems to have anything positive to say to her) -- and yet the idea that maybe they might be horrible bullies apparently hasn't crossed their minds.

Poster upthread says JKR is ‘obsessed’, if by obsessed you mean ‘feels very strongly about’ then yes she’s obsessed with women’s rights and truth. Truth. That illusive thing.

She’s also a ‘baddie’ because the patriarchy are well used to silencing women and in this case they can’t. Sucks to be them ( as my tween would say 😂).

I believe that we all recognise that apple cannot recognise and actively dismisses male abuse and violence against female people.

I also believe they have supported abusers over the victim before in their need to demonise women who disagree with apple.

She's obsessed with women's rights.

Just like that Emmeline Pankhurst - shockingly obsessed with women's right to vote she was.

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 24/08/2024 11:56

Thanks sensible women of MN. Or men. Don't want to misgender anyone Wink You've restored my faith in sensibleness (I know it's not a word)

Honestly my RL friends all either believe TWAW or don't say anything about it so I was feeling rather alone.

Of course threads (and presumably TwiX) is now full of how happy her legal team will be that she couldn't keep away from SM. (Didn't she say she was going on holiday and wouldn't be on-line? Rather than that she was scared away?)

JKR thoughts and speech come from a place of protecting women and standing up for their safety. Nothing she has said in my opinion is offensive or incorrect. Love her.

it's august

they're on holiday you absolute doofus.

Some people really do need an intervention on the social media front. It's like they literally can't think of anything else

Because they have huge difficulty distinguishing fantasy from reality. I think some of them genuinely think this could happen because they want to it.
