The original premises are getting crowded, we need to expand.

Welcome all women, and well behaved animals.

PS @MarieDeGournay 's use of the singular 'Tunnock' did not go unnoticed & unappreciated the other day.😂

Are you still running your competition to name the new chocolate cocktail, Marie? There've been several suggestions so far, but I think we could do with a some more.

lcakethereforeIam · 19/09/2024 12:52

Has anyone suggested the Tunnocktail?

inkymoose · 19/09/2024 12:57

lcakethereforeIam · 19/09/2024 12:50

I'm sorry but I don't care for either of them. There, I said it!

Beetles don't have two pairs of wing cases.

Although it wouldn't surprise me if Boiled had several. One for best, one for doing the gardening, etc. But only one set at a time!!!

Perfectly fair. AI has no idea what beetle wings look like, or even where they are on its carapace. Maybe this effort is slightly better?

Mmmmm I'd like one of those. Sounds so bad, it's wicked.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 19/09/2024 13:04

Marie de G a dit: To celebrate the re-opening, the Bluestocking will be serving a specially-developed cocktail to mark the occasion, consisting of vodka, blended Tunnock, chocolate liqueur and cream, topped with a chocolate shard in the shape of a quokka. A competition will be held to name the new cocktail.

Enries so far:

Tunnocktail
chocktail
un cocktail du Tunnocks
chocquoktails

lcakethereforeIam · 19/09/2024 13:06

It's 'The' Tunnocktail.

Although tbh the chocquoktail would get my vote.

The NT just sent me this recipe. Looks nice. Can someone ask the chef to run a few up for afternoon tea? We can forage for blackberries if anyone fancies doing that. I saw some ripening on my way in.

These Tunnock pics are all very well, but I prefer a Caramel Wafer.

EdithStourton · 19/09/2024 14:04

I picked some blackberries when walking the dogs. Unfortunately I ate them all.

In my defence, I was using 'Tunnock' in an abstract generic-y kind of way,
'Blended Tunnock'. Like omelettes are made from egg.

You can lob as many as you want into the blenderGrin
Yes my name-that-cocktail competition is still open. I'm underwhelmed by the suggestion so far
The Tunnocktail
chocktail
un cocktail du Tunnocks
chocquoktails.

I was hoping for something a bit more daring, inspired by 'Sex on the Beach' or something -
Tunnocks on the Tutonniere?
Long Slow Argument in Favour of Women's Biological Rights?
Between the Posts?

Went to the garden centre today & they've got a Christmas display already, so I bought some cards. Now I want to send them (before I lose them). That wouldn't look... eccentric, would it? 😂

Alternatively I could include a Christmas card with the birthday cards I have to send between now & the end of the year. Well, I am a pensioner & I'm not getting a Winter Fuel Allowance, so I have to make up the money somehow. With the price of stamps (don't get me started) it won't take many cards before I've got my £300 back.

I'm working on being an old lady. I've got a cat & my house is full of unfinished yarn projects & pairs of glasses which I can never find when I need them, & I've got a spare purse full of those fiddly little 5p pieces. What else do I need to do? I know I have to up my supermarket game, as old ladies round here typically buy 1 enormous beef joint, a bottle of strong booze & a bag of mint imperials - that's all.

Any advice gratefully received.

EdithStourton · 19/09/2024 16:01

Soz
I can pick some more if you like....
And try not to eat them all this time.

I used to pick blackberries when I was walking the dog, but now I forage for them in Sainsbury’s.

I’ve just had a phone call from the GP - apparently one of my blood tests showed inflammatory markers, so they want to see me again (in a fortnight). I have inflammatory colitis, so it’s probably that.

ifIwerenotanandroid, of course she means the blackberries... unless 'EdithStourton' is actually Roald Amundsen's username😱

That's a pretty impressive contribution. Will it be bettered or have you won already? Smile

Well I'm trying ( and failing) at old-ladying too.
Can't knit, hate Dubonnet, loathe bingo..

I do have two cats though. That's a good start. And I'm a thorn in the Rector's side at church. 😁 ( I think he hates me because I refuse to comply, won't do the actions to the kids songs, dont make cakes or coffee; neither will I die quietly)

Oh, I like the sound of you, Fuzzy. I also had a difficult relationship with the Rector - so much so that she was known in our house as the Rectum. Entirely her own fault. She's gone now & our thoughts & prayers are with her new congregation.
