The original premises are getting crowded, we need to expand.

Welcome all women, and well behaved animals.

Si tes lecons sont going badly, tu dois continuer avec Jacques-Henri & co however long it takes until you improve. Them's the rules, sorry (Leetle Beetle not sorry, eh?).

I fear it may take years to get even a tiny bit fluent., Even with 3 hunks lessons a day!

It is a cross I shall have to bear.

😏

Ok ok. I'll show you the image with the all-lefthanded women. Don't say I didn't warn you

I think they're conjoined twins who have a shared left hand. Redhead does a right hand (it's around her twin's shoulder), grey haired has a left instead of a right.

Sinister sisters.

Brilliant bluestocking-ish analysis there, Errol. Badge of honour due to be awarded to you, I think.

I found another bluestocking badge, but I'm drowning in the colours of the yarn on the same site... 😍

I have a puddle of reality in that I spent quite a bit of this afternoon at the cataract clinic. They're early but won't get any better and are beginning to affect me now. Boo hiss.

Sorry to hear that, Fuzzy.
Cataracts are one of the rare conditions where you wish the sufferer will get worse soon, cos then they'll remove them and it'll be a whole new brightly- coloured world out thereSmile Hang in there till then.

Luckily (part of the same brewery chain as the Blustocking) there is a handy Puddle of Reality pub next to most medical establishments. It's more or less identical to our Bluestocking, so you'll not be falling over anything as the layout will be as you expect it to be.

Although I do believe they don't have goats.

Just told my daughter for using 'less' instead of 'fewer'. She said she didn't care for that kind of pedantness! I told her 'pedantry'!

I feel I've failed as a parent.

Told off.

Thank you @ifIwerenotanandroid . They look delicious, but far too many for me
Anyone want to share?

ifIwerenotanandroid · 17/09/2024 20:38

Well, if you insist, @FuzzyPuffling , but they were to last you through the evening.

Boiledbeetle · 17/09/2024 20:44

I just love how you never get to the bottom of the glass. Heaven is chocolate flavoured.

I didn't tell her off though, I just told her.

Can I have the chocky* drink on the left? And the cake!

Everyone is under strict instructions to not bring any more mugs into the house. My mug cupboard is currently like the box with one too many maltesers. That's why I always have to have a mug of tea on the go.

*fortunately I noticed I'd missed the 'h' before I posted Blush, that would've been Murpy's law.

JanesLittleGirl · 17/09/2024 21:30

OK. Now that the outbreak of Franglais has dissipated, I feel safe to drift in for a quiet drink.

I should reverse the two principal clauses but I can't be arsed.

EdithStourton · 17/09/2024 22:41

I need to down a quick cocky (h in place) cocktail before bed.

I love the yarn, @ifIwerenotanandroid
And @FuzzyPuffling a friend of mine had her cataracts done about 15 years ago. She was thrilled with the results.

EdithStourton · 18/09/2024 06:49

Well, Murhpy's law prevailed there, I blame autocorrupt.
Too late to edit now....

What is this 'one too many Maltesers' of which you speak, @lcakethereforeIam? That is not a problem that ever occurs in this household! 😂

And @EdithStourton is right, @FuzzyPuffling - my mum had her cataracts done and it made a massive difference - she was very pleased. Though I am sorry to hear that you will need them done.

I am off for my blood test shortly - nothing but water has passed my lips since 9pm yesterday, and I am really looking forward to some coffee, and a bowl of Shredded Wheat when I get home.

I'm currently enjoying my first cup of tea of the morning on behalf of you as well as me this morning. Hope you're out of the doctors quickly and back home enjoying breakfast in a very short while .

What does blue stocking stand for?

Educated intellectual women!

"Bluestocking (also spaced blue-stocking or blue stockings) is a term for an educated, intellectual woman, originally a member of the 18th-century Blue Stockings Society from England led by the hostess and critic Elizabeth Montagu (1718–1800), the "Queen of the Blues", including Elizabeth Vesey (1715–1791), Hester Chapone (1727–1801) and the classicist Elizabeth Carter (1717–1806). In the following generation came Hester Lynch Piozzi (1741–1821), Hannah More (1745–1833) and Frances Burney (1752–1840).[1] The term now more broadly applies to women who show interest in literary or intellectual matters.[2]"

Pub names don't necessarily accurately describe the people who frequent them, of course. Grin
