Tommy Robinson and Let Women Speak

I've only read about this on Twitter so there's a chance this is being taken out of context, but it looks like Let Women Speak were part of Tommy Robinson's rally in London this past weekend:

This doesn't sit right with me at all. I've been to LWS events and thought I knew what they were about. I've argued against the guilt-by-association tactics that some activists use against LWS when male intruders have turned up to the events, like the neo-Nazis in Melbourne.

But here we see the opposite, LWS deliberately attending far-right fascist marches. This seems inexcusable to me.

Where are you getting this Jamaican flag thing from? I've only seen the cross of St George and the union jack picture. Can you post your source please?

Why don't you post your third and fourth hand sources?
If she attends far right rallies dressed in the "uniform" of the far right, it is a logical conclusion that she is at least sympathetic to them. She hasn't come out and said anything different

Well she wouldn't say much to you. You seem to think the Jamaican flag signifies far right now.

TinselAngel · 07/06/2024 14:44

Well except for the posters who are which is why people are questioning why they are suggesting that. So far it's just been "to understand" but the purpose of that understanding isn't explained or what it is they don't understand about them already.

In order to try to prevent them drifting towards extremism, by seeing if there is a way that their concerns can be addressed or if their concerns are genuinely unfounded then they can be educated about why they are unfounded.

But this isn't new. It's a fringe group which has always existed in some form or another under different names and groups since the country has tried to become less racist. Again, how exactly do you think they can be "saved" from extremism and what has it got to do with feminists to do that? Some would say being a far right or white nationalist supporter is pretty extreme already.

Apart from pictures, tweets and pages and pages of denial and minimisation.

I get the impression the only thing that's going to convince some on here that there is a problem with far right infiltration is if KJK gets a tattoo of TR on her forehead.

None of that is evidence that TR has influenced GC feminism though.

TinselAngel · 07/06/2024 14:52

I'm not saying feminists should do that I'm saying political parties should.

Edited

It's all from this very thread. Which are screenshot from her twitter.

But carry on minimising and denying. Nothing like a bit of gaslighting.

🤣
Boo hoo hoo, poor me, forced to march with the far right because of meany meany Labour.

TinselAngel · 07/06/2024 14:59

Are you 12 Cassie?

I was responding to posters advocating for women on this board to listen to them though.

Are you?

TinselAngel · 07/06/2024 15:05

OK. I'm not going to engage with you any more Cassie, it's utterly pointless. I was tricked into it on this thread by the name change but will be more careful in future.

Same.

LordPercyPercy · 07/06/2024 15:08

Same.

Likewise. It's not good faith and it's just silly.

CassieMaddox · 07/06/2024 15:11

Fine with me.
Thanks for sharing Lippys twitter though. A quick scroll shows she's quite well down the rabbit hole. Very familiar GC feminist themes, unrelated to trans issues. Such as a fondness for Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

CassieMaddox · 07/06/2024 15:12

Underthinker · 07/06/2024 14:51

If you say so.

Hepwo · 07/06/2024 15:42

See spart this reads to me as "I want to talk about Gillian Duffy and Gordon Brown because it is much more palatable to me to think its Gordon Brown's fault the feminist movement has been infiltrated by the far right than to consider that maybe I've had the wool pulled over my eyes".

@GrammarTeacher introduced this incident to the thread. Telling us she said a bigoted thing.

She thinks there's infiltration, quote "everything corrupted*.
Rather than having the wool pulled over my eyes, she has been asked to describe everything corrupted and the bigoted thing said.
She hasn't bothered.

By setting it up as "let's explore why Gordon brown was bad" you are managing your own cognitive dissonance about LWS by emphasising the comforting bit of the argument.

Nope, we are just waiting for the person that brought it up to elucidate or I will just consider it regurgitation of pre chewed ideas.

There are gazillions of threads where women console themselves that their move to the right is the fault of Labour. I didn't think I'd see it being used as a justification for a move to the far right thopugh.

There's only you and a few other KJK haters setting out that fantasy.

Imnobody4 · 07/06/2024 15:52

Good grief ‐ this thread is really frustrating.
First they told me I couldn't/shouldn't speak now they tell me shouldn't listen.
Awaiting further instructions from my glorious leader. Cassie do you need to know what I'm reading as well?

LordPercyPercy · 07/06/2024 15:59

Hopefully not anything posted on X by DJ Lippy, apparently she's "down the rabbit hole", you might catch facism 😂

illinivich · 07/06/2024 16:13

Don't be tempted to wear a flag round your shoulders when you look at X!

Its bad enough reading this stuff, but dont wear 'the uniform ' when you do. It'll make it so much worse.

CassieMaddox · 07/06/2024 16:35

mrshoho · 07/06/2024 09:03

I don't disagree with his statement there, but has Gordon Brown and the left learned anything about respecting peoples genuine concerns? Gordon Brown who referred to a woman he had a conversation with as 'some bigoted woman' . His mask slipped well and truly and we only witnessed it due to his mic fail. And Labour wondered why so many faithful deserted them.

This is where it started in my opinion. A derail that many enthusiastically seized on. Because its their comfort blanket about the Evil Left (who haven't been in power for 14 years)

The problem is wearing the uniform of the far right on a far right rally. Then complaining you are being "hounded" when people think you are far right.

CassieMaddox · 07/06/2024 16:37

Pesutto- I do not believe that it is appropriate to knowingly associate or share platforms with individuals who hold or express these extremist views. I also believe that there is no room to be blithe or cavalier in the face of Neo-Nazism.

I still agree with him. Shame many don't.

Well if you believe there is a social contagion element for being trans why would you rule it out for fascism?

Whoopy I win. Where's my prize? Although to be fair it was someone else who first brought up Gordon Brown. But in your world it's only a derail when it's not in support of the left.
